Roger Cadle, musician
Roger Lee Cadle, 44, a widely known Greater Cincinnati musician and recording engineer, died Tuesday at Bethesda Hospital North after a short illness.
For more than 16 years, Mr. Cadle, a Carthage resident, owned and operated the Audio Workshop recording studio in Carthage and was a former member of the Carthage Busi ness Association.
Mr. Cadle was part of the Cluricaun band, performing traditional Irish music at Celtic festivals and gatherings in Kentucky and Ohio since 1990. He also had performed at a number of churches, including Faith Christian Fellowship in Newtown, where he was a member.
Mr. Cadle grew up in Cleveland and came from a family of Bluegrass musicians. He began playing Bluegrass at age 7 and sang as a teen-ager with the Crownsmen quartet. In 1978, he moved to Cincinnati and began his career in the recording business.
Among his recording projects were the "Dead Serious" soundtracks for the Christian youth group Mishpachah and Christmas recordings for the former Central Trust Bank.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Cadle; children, Alison and Roger II, both of Carthage; his parents, George and Jane Cadle of Cleveland; a brother, Michael Cadle of Nashville, Tenn.; and a sister Karen of Cleveland.
Services: noon Saturday at Faith Christian Fellowship in Newtown. Visitation: 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Services on Saturday
for CFC's John Schiff
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday for John J. Schiff, who founded the Cincinnati Financial Corp.
He died Wednesday at age 82.
Mr. Schiff began Cincinnati Financial out of his insurance agency on Central Parkway with one secretary.
At the end of 1997, the Fairfield-based company had revenues of $1.9 billion, earnings of almost $300 million and more than 2,700 employees.
At the time of his death, Mr. Schiff was chairman of the executive committee of the board of directors of Cincinnati Financial Corp. and the Cincinnati Insurance Cos.
He was married to Mary Reid Schiff for 50 years, until her death in 1995.
Mr. Schiff leaves sons, John J. Schiff Jr. and Thomas R. Schiff, both of Cincinnati; and daughter Suzanne Reid of Barnstable, Mass.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. Saturday at Shiloh United Methodist Church, 580 Anderson Ferry at Foley Road, in Delhi Township, followed by services at 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will be at Spring Grove Cemetery.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Vincent F. Grote, had served
as city communications chief
Vincent F. Grote, retired superintendent of communications for the city of Cincinnati, died Tuesday at Drake Center. The Westwood resident was 82.
Mr. Grote's primary concern was the safety of others. It was under his tenure that Cincinnati became the first American city to buy two-way radios for its police officers.
He was a 40-year member of the International Municipal Signal Association, an organization comprised of government employees with the purpose of improving safety equipment on the job. From 1969-70, Mr. Grote served as president of the organization.
At this year's conference, the group named him president emeritus of its Educational Foundation.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine M. Jungkunz Grote; daughters, Deanna Smith of Cincinnati and Karen Stilson of Toronto; a son, James Grote of Batesville, Ind.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Catharine Church, Westwood.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Neidhard-Minges Funeral Home, Westwood.

Dentist James E. Hewett,
had practice in Mariemont
Longtime Indian Hill resident and Mariemont dentist James E. Hewett died Wednesday. He was 75.
Dr. Hewett earned his bachelor's degree from Miami University in 1946, and gradu ated from Georgetown Univer sity Dental School in 1950.
He later opened a private practice in Mariemont that re mained in operation for 34 years.
Dr. Hewett, who was a member of the Eastern Hills Dental Study Club and the Cincinnati Dental Society, al so and was a lifetime member of the American Dental Asso ciation.
Survivors include his wife, Mary F. Hewett; sons, James E. Hewett Jr. and Christopher B. Hewett; brothers, Clifford B. Hewett and Edwin W. Hewett; and a sister, Marjorie H. Petty.

John Bueker, Price Hill
John Henry Bueker, one of Price Hill's oldest citizens, died Thursday at the age of 101.
A lifelong resident of Price Hill, Mr. Bueker was managing officer of the Price Hill No. 2 Building and Loan Co. He helped found the Price Hill-Western Hills Kiwanis Club in 1948 and never missed a meeting in 50 years. He was president of the club in 1953 and was secretary for 14 years.
Mr. Bueker also was active in the Price Hill Civic Club and was selected to be its Man of the Year.
He played semi-professional and amateur baseball with the St. William's Club and the Price Hill Vernons and used to tell stories about a 19-inning game the Vernons played against the Waco Club at old Crosley Field in 1920. He was voted into the Hall of Fame of Price Hill Old Timers Ball Players in 1965. Mr. Bueker made a tape recording of his memories of Price Hill, which is at the Cincinnati Historical Society Museum.
He leaves his daughter, Jean Herman of Price Hill, and son, Jack Bueker of Delhi; 18 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Lawrence Church, Price Hill.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at B.J. Charles Welling, metal worker
Charles Fredrick Welling, 83, a Cincinnati native, died in South Lake Tahoe, Calif., Oct. 9.
A sheet metal worker in Greater Cincinnati for 50 years, Mr. Welling retired in California in 1976. He was a member of the Sheetmetal Workers Union.
Mr. Welling enjoyed playing the stock market, as well as the Racebook at Harrah's casino.
He is survived by a brother, John A. Welling, of Middletown, Ohio; sister-in-law, Mitzi Welling, of Middletown, Ohio; seven nephews and five nieces; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was held Wednesday, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, South Lake Tahoe, Calif.
