Robert E. Allen, insurance agent
In addition to a successful career in insurance, Robert E. Allen, of Lake Lorelei in Brown County, Ohio, devoted much time to Masonic activities, including singing at a variety of Masonic programs.
Mr. Allen, 67, died Tuesday.
He was in the insurance business for about 40 years and was vice president of C. Edward Lovins Insurance Agency in Milford. He also was a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker.
He sang bass for the Scottish Rite Choir, the Syrian Shrine Chanters and at the Shrine Circus All Masons Night at what is now Cinergy Field. There he sang the National Anthem.
As a Mason, he was a member of the Valley of Cincinnati and was elected to receive the Meritorious Service Award, presented to those who attained the distinction of 32nd Degree.
Mr. Allen leaves his wife, Jeanette M. Allen, of Lake Lorelei; sons, Edward Allen and William D. Allen; a daughter, Kathy Allen; stepsons, William R. Miller, Tony Miller and Ron Miller; a stepdaughter, Diane Schellenberger; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services: Masonic and Scottish Rite services at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Elden A. Good Funeral Home, 2620 Erie Ave., Hyde Park.
Visitation: Friday from 5 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.

Sheldon Honnert, builder
Sheldon E. Honnert, 83, of College Hill, died Tuesday.
Mr. Honnert was a principle in the construction firm of Edward T. Honnert and Sons, which was well-known for years in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati for construction of numerous churches and schools including St. Peter in Chains Cathedral, Christ the King Church, Little Flower Church, St. Ann's Church, LaSalle High School, Wyoming Middle School, Middletown High School, Crest Hills Country Club and Mercy Hospital, Hamilton.

Harriett Iglauer, civic and social leader
Harriett S. Iglauer, longtime Wyoming resident active in social, political and charitable causes, died Jan. 13 at the Evergreen Retirement Community.
The South Bend, Ind., native received her bachelor's and master's degrees in social work from the University of Chicago.
She came to Cincinnati in 1959 and became active in the work of the League of Women Voters. She served as president from 1964-68, then as the statewide LWV's program chair for government structures and as vice president for programs.
She chaired a number of study committees focused on the problems of city and county government. Mrs. Iglauer was the second recipient of the League's Martha Taft Service Award in 1989.
As a medical social worker, Mrs. Iglauer worked at the Family Service Association of Cincinnati for many years. She supervised graduate social work students, a position she called 'the most rewarding thing I did in social work.'
'My mother was a woman very much ahead of her time,' said her son, Bruce Iglauer of Chicago. 'She graduated from the University of Chicago before World War II. She was a working woman, very active in the community, not the traditional stay-at-home mom of the 1950s.
'She was the most ethical and honest person I have ever known in my life. She had a very dry sense of humor and was always able to laugh at herself. As a parent, she was an inspiration.'
Mrs. Iglauer served for 20 years on the board of the Children's Psychiatric Hospital and was a member of the boards of the Association of Home Care Agencies and the Philada Senior Citizens' Center. She was active with the Workum Foundation, which provides scholarships to exceptional social service students.
She also leaves her son, Bruce, Mrs. Iglauer leaves a daughter, Carol Iglauer of St. Louis. Her husband, John Iglauer, died in 1953.

Thomas Robinson, worked at Coldstream
Thomas 'Robbie' Robinson, who worked as locker room attendant at Coldstream Country Club for 23 years before retiring, died Thursday.
The Hyde Park resident was well-known in golfing circles and since 1991 had volunteered as locker room attendant during the Kroger Senior Classic in Mason. Mr. Robinson and a few friends would shine at least 78 pairs of golf shoes and 78 pairs of street shoes for the professional golfers each day. Mr. Robinson also worked there during the regular PGA and LPGA tournaments.
'This has been my life for 40 years,' Mr. Robinson once told a reporter. 'When you do something for that long, you either like it, or you hate it. I love it.'
