Dominic Million, Sycamore football senior
The way Dominic Million lived his life could be seen in his death.
About 1,200 people - classmates, 120 football teammates and 5 busloads of students from Sycamore High School - turned out for visitation and funeral services today.
Tearful mourners crowded the parking lot and the chapel of Thompson, Hall and Jordan Funeral Home in Forest Park. Inside the chapel, mourners stood two deep along the walls.
Dominic Million, 18, was killed Friday in a traffic accident on northbound Montgomery Road at Cornell Road in Symmes Township.
Today would have been the Sycamore senior's last day of classes.
Marjorie Million, the mother of the varsity football team running back, said the loss had been buffeted by the community's outpouring of support.
"I always tried to teach him that whatever life deals you, try to deal with it because God never puts anything on you you can't handle," said the mother of three.
"I was really surprised ... Many people loved my son and when I see all these people..."
Dominic, who has two younger brothers, was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a close friend, John San Marco, another 18-year-old Sycamore High School senior and a varsity football player.
Mrs. Million, who has visited the San Marco family, noted that John "is taking it hard.
"He was trying to avoid an accident when he hit the utility pole," Mrs. Million said.
"I told him 'I love you, and I fault you for nothing.' "
