Michael Curtis Wright, athlete

Services for Michael Curtis Wright, a 16-year-old Madison, Ind., boy killed Wednesday in an automobile accident, will be on Saturday.

The teen was a student at Madison Consolidated High School, where he competed on the track and swimming teams. He had worked as a lifeguard this summer at the Clifty Falls State Park pool.

Michael was the son of Michael and Diane Wright. Oth er survivors are two sisters, Mary Catherine and Megan Kimberly; maternal grandparents, Paula and Roger MacDonald; and paternal grandmother, Mary Ellen Wright.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church, Madison, Ind. Visitation: 4-8 p.m. tonight at Morgan-Webster-Nay Funeral Home, 325 Demaree Drive, Madison. Memorials: Michael Curtis Wright Memorial Fund.

Louis Osborne, county treasurer

Louis  Johnson Osborne, who served as the Switzerland County, Ind., treasurer for eight years and was a former president for the Vevay Town Board for eight years, died Wednesday.

He was 68 and lived in Vevay, Ind.

Mr. Osborne also owned and operated a 5 & 10 variety store for 23 years and was a former co-manager for the former TG&Y Store in Madison, Ind.

Services: 1 p.m. EST Sunday at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry St., Vevay, Ind. Visitation: 5-8 p.m. EST Saturday.

Memorials: American Cancer Society, American Diabetes. Association or to the Switzerland Baptist Church.

John J. Gannon, Bell executive

John J. "Jack" Gannon, 68, who rose from an telephone installer to senior vice president at Cincinnati Bell Telephone Co., died Monday in Sarasota, Fla.

Mr. Gannon was also the starting catcher on the Bentley Post American Legion baseball team that won the national championship in 1947. A graduate of Western Hills High Schoo, Mr. Gannon played baseball at the Ohio State University, where he was the team's captain, and in the Reds' minor league system.

An outgoing man who made it a point to know everyone's name, friends described Mr. Gannon as the "consumate marketeer."

Mr. Gannon joined Cincinnati Bell as an installer-repairman in 1954 and by 1957 had become part of management.

He was elected senior vice president in October 1978 and retired in 1987.

"He was just a tremendous friend," said Frank Sommerkamp, a retired Cincinnati Bell employee and Gannon's long-time friend. "Jack made work fun. You enjoyed working for him. He had a tremendous capability for names and happenings."

Mr. Gannon had lived in Sarasota, Fla., for the last 10 years.

JOEL K. CUMMINS, 39, of West Chester, died Wednesday. He was a project leader with production process services for General Electric. Thomas Woeste, circulation manager

Thomas J. Woeste, 51, of Melbourne, Ky., died Thursday from an infection that might be linked to eating raw oysters from a local restaurant.

Mr. Woeste, who died at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas, was a circulation manager for the Cincinnati Enquirer. He also was a former president of the Association of Alternate Postal Systems and a member of Melbourne Volunteer Fire Department.

Cincinnati health officials said it could be a week before they determine whether the infection from the oysters caused Woeste's death.

The bacterial infection - vibrio vulnificus - often found in shellfish, hasn't been seen in Greater Cincinnati in 10 years, said Dr. Malcolm Adcock, Cincinnati Health commissioner.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the illness can be fatal to persons with underlying health problems such as hepatitis or other liver disease, diabetes., cancer or stomach problems. Persons who use steroids for asthma or arthritis are also at risk.

Adcock declined to identify the restaurant that served the raw oysters, pending positive ID of the bacteria by a lab.

Survivors include his wife, Kimberly S. Taterka Woeste; a brother, Rick Woeste of Melbourne; and sisters, Donna Woeste of Covington and Sandi Kitchen of Alexandria.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 5:30 p.m. Monday at St. Mary Church, Alexandria. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Alexandria. Memorials are suggested to St. Philip's Church Building Fund, 1402 Mary Ingles Highway, Melbourne, Ky. 41059.

WILMA RACHEL (ANDERSON) CADDELL, 70, of Bennington (near Aberdeen), Ind., died Thursday. Ms. Caddell was a homemaker and earlier in life, she was a beautician and restaurateur. Services: 2 p.m. EST Sunday at Temple Baptist Church, Patriot, Ind. Visitation: 5-8 p.m. EST Saturday at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry St., Vevay, Ind., and 1 p.m. Sunday until time of service at the church. Memorials: Temple Baptist Church.

JOHN S. POSGAY, 81, of Newport, died at 5:58 p.m. Thursday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. He was a machinist who taught design, art, and architecture students at the University of Cincinnati for 20 years. Mr. Posgay helped run the shop where UC students would build their class projects. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed fishing.

Other survivors include his wife, Louise Kraft Posgay; daughters, Franci Sims and Anita "Rudi" Moorman, both of Crescent Springs; sisters, Rose Coleman of Bethpage, N.Y., and Helen Chadbourne of Bronx, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Therese Church, Southgate.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport, with prayers at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery,  Taylor Mill.

Judith Ann Jines Day, legal secretary

Judith Ann Jines Day, a former secretary for the governor's office in Kentucky, died Saturday at age 46.

Mrs. Day, of Madison, Ind., had worked as a secretary all of her life. She was with the Madison State Hospital for the past 19 years.

Mrs. Day is survived by her husband, Jonathan; a son, Jason N. Murphy; her mother and stepfather, three brothers, a sister and several nieces and nephews.

Sister Anthony Mary Fette, artist, teacher

Sister Anthony Mary Fette, a Sister of Charity in Cincinnati and an art and social studies teacher for many years in Ohio and Michigan, died Saturdayat Mother Margaret Hall in Mount St. Joseph, Ohio.

Sister Anthony Mary, 90, had been a Sister of Charity for 68 years. Her first years of teaching were spent in Chillicothe and Detroit. She came to Cincinnati in 1936 to teach at St. Lawrence School in Price Hill. She later taught at Resurrection, St. Dominic, St. Martin de Porres and St. William schools in Greater Cincinnati.

While teaching in Michigan in the 1960s, she had two one-woman art exhibits of her oils and watercolors at area libraries.

When she retired to the Sisters of Charity Motherhouse in 1972, she took joy in driving other sisters wherever they wanted to go. She retired to Mother Margaret Hall nursing home in 1992.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Lorraine Fette of Cincinnati.

Mass: 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Motherhouse Chapel. Visitation: 1:30 to 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Motherhouse Heritage Room.

Gerald Scott, foundryman, devoted dad

Gerald R. Scott, a former chairman of the Southwest Ohio Foundrymen Society, died Monday at age 66.

Mr. Scott, who was named Foundryman of the Year in 1983, lived in Cold Spring, Ky.

His eldest daughter, Connie R. Scott of Edisto Island, S.C., said her father was accomplished but she remembers him more for his wisdom and kindness.

"When I think of my dad, I think of his total devotion to his family," Miss Scott said. "My dad was always there for everybody, for his kids and his grandkids and everyone else."

Mr. Scott was a metallurgy engineer and a Navy veteran. He also was a deacon with Christ Church United Church of Christ in Fort Thomas, Ky.

Miss Scott said her father was insightful and kind. He encouraged her to become a registered nurse for a community mental health center in South Carolina.

Other survivors include his wife of 45 years, Gypsy L. Scott; daughters, Sandra Brown of Covington, Cindy A. Hughes of West Chester, Lisa R. Palmisano and Pamela L. Pauley, both of Fairfield; sons, Richard Gangwish of Edgewood, Ky., Gerald R. Scott of Dayton and Timothy W. Scott of Erlanger, Ky.; sister, Jean E. Falk of Covington and brother, David L. Scott of  Taylor Mill, Ky.; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services: 10 a.m. Friday at Christ Church United Church of Christ. Visitation: 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas.
