Mary Esther Franz

MARION -- Mary Esther Franz, 95, Sunbridge Care Center, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003.

Born Sept. 7, 1908, in Caledonia, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Ada (Rinker) Nufer.

On Feb. 16, 1931, in Maysville, Ky., she married Charles J. Franz; he died Dec. 17, 1958, in Marion.

She was a hairdresser for more than 20 years in various shops throughout Marion. She was a graduate of Caledonia High School and Marion Beauty and Cosmetology School. She was a member of Caledonia Memorial Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by one brother and five sisters.

A gathering of relatives and friends will be held on Monday, Dec. 18, 2003, at 10 a.m. in the Boyd Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas Orr officiating. Burial is at a later time in the Marion Cemetery. Calling hours will not be observed.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes. Association or the Arthritis Foundation.

Betty J. Harden

FT. MYERS, Fla. -- Betty J. Harden, 77, Fort Myers, Fla., died from stroke while celebrating Thanksgiving in Las Vegas with family and former husband, Fred M. Harden, Guadalajara, Mexico.

Betty was partner of Harden Music Stores in Marion, is survived by Susan Leers, Chicago, Fred Mike Harden, Boston, Scott and Vincent Harden, Ft. Myers.

Audrey Patrick

MARION -- Audrey Patrick, 100, Marion, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at her residence.

Born Feb. 9, 1903, in Enon, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Wallace and Pearl (Rae) Cutlip.

On Dec. 10, 1921, in Camden-on-Gauley, W.Va., she married Glennie Vernon Patrick; he died Dec. 21, 1973, in Marion.

A homemaker, she attended the Kensington Place Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by two sons, Russell Patrick of New Plymouth, Lee Patrick of Metamora, Ind.; three daughters, Frances Patrick, Wilma Patrick and Edie Patrick, all of Marion; a sister, Erma Griffith of West Virginia; 21 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Vernon Patrick, a daughter, Violet Southward, two brothers and two sisters.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Friday at Boyd Funeral Home with the Rev. John Wildman officiating. Burial is in Grand Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Indian Holiness Mission, P.O. Box 130, Chambers, AZ 86502-0130.

William E. Beckley

MARION -- William E. Beckley, age 84, formerly of Richwood, died at 2:50 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, at Maplewood Nursing Home.

Born July 24, 1919, he was the son of the late George Beckley and Eva Beckley Smith.

On May 5, 1942, he married Mildred C. Beckley and she survives.

He retired in the early 1980s as a welding superintendent with the former Marion Power Shovel Co. He was of the Catholic faith, loved hunting very much, enjoyed welding as a hobby and fixing farm equipment and volunteered years ago with a fire department in Jal, N.M.

He is survived by a son, Richard Beckley of Columbus; a daughter, Patsy Ann Wagner, Schulenburg, Texas ; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at Boyd Funeral Home with the Rev. Father Michael Nimocks officiating. Burial in Price Cemetery. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mildred C. Beckley

MARION -- Mildred C. Beckley, 83, formerly of the Richwood area, died at 6:10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, in Maplewood Nursing Home in Marion.

Born April 11, 1920, in Natchitoches, La., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Adell (Cardino) Landrum.

On May 5, 1942, she married William E. Beckley, who preceded her in death Dec. 9, 2003, in Marion.

Of the Catholic faith, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by a son, Richard Beckley of Columbus; a daughter, Patsy Ann Wagner of Schulenburg, Texas ; a brother, Jack D. Landrum of Waco, Texas ; a sister, Lucille Bonds of Hobbs, N.M.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Calling hours will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, in Boyd Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, by the Rev. Michael Nimocks. Burial will be in Price Cemetery.

Keith H. Holland

LARUE -- Keith H. Holland, 75, of LaRue, died at 6:40 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at Memorial Hospital of Union County, Marysville.

He was born May 11, 1928, in Hardin County, to the late John Herbert and Opal (Daly) Holland.

On Sept. 11, 1949, he married Patricia Clark in Hepburn; she survives in LaRue.

A retired farmer, he also sold and repaired farm buildings. He was a member of Hepburn United Methodist Church, Lathan Lodge 154 F&AM, Kenton Elks Lodge 157 and a former Dudlay Township trustee. He enjoyed flying airplanes.

He is survived by two daughters, Joan Finocchiaro of Oakdale, Calif., and Susan Cooper of Kenton; five grandchildren, Michael and Pfc. Scott Holland, Emily, Hannah and Sarah Cooper; one brother, Ray Holland of Crestline; and three sisters, Mary Kay (James) Carey of LaRue, Dorothy Stoughton of Tipp City, and Reba Coats of Kenton. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Holland.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at Price Funeral Home in Kenton with Pastor Dennis Livingston officiating. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in care of the funeral home.

Pauline Dickason

MARION -- Pauline Dickason, age 57, 491 Olney Ave., died at 2 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, at her residence.

Born April 24, 1946, she was the daughter of Ralph and the late Fleeta Tabitha (Dunlap) Dorsey.

On June 5, 1989, in Pembroke, Va., she married Lewis R. Dickason, and he survives in Marion.

A resident of Marion for 12 years, she formerly lived in Smithers, W.Va. She was employed as a baker at Meijer for 12 years and was a member of the Moose and Eagles lodges, and the Army and Navy Club.

She is survived by a daughter, Mistie Mathes, Nitro, W.Va.; a brother, Bob Dorsey, Smithers, W.Va., two sisters, Eva Damron, Gauley Bridge, W.Va., and Arlene Johnson, Lookout, W.Va.; and one grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Eric Tolley.

There will be no calling hours observed and burial will be at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Boyd Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
