Anthony Chiodi, 73, of Cincinnati, died Wednesday.

Mr. Chiodi was a teacher and coach for 23 years in the Cincinnati Public Schools, and for 15 years he owned and operated the Winter Garden, a popular country and western night club in Elizabethtown, Ohio.

Mass of Christian burial: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Church, 2853 Erie Ave., Hyde Park.

Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m.Sunday at Gilligan Funeral Home, 8225 Montgomery Road.

Raymond Bates, Cadillac salesman

Raymond Allen Bates, a salesman with Thomson-MacConnell Cadillac for 26 years, died Friday.

A resident of Blue Ash, Mr. Bates had received numerous sales awards locally and nationally.

He also had a long career in radio and television, holding sales positions at WTHR television in Indianapolis, KPLR television in St. Louis and WCKY radio here.

Born in Indianapolis, Mr. Bates attended Purdue University and served in the Korean War aboard the USS Shields. He was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association and the Navy League.

Mr. Bates was an active member in the Rotary Club of Cincinnati and was chairman of the Bloom Middle School mentoring Project.

He was also a member of the Hartzell United Methodist Church where he served as an usher, a member of the Methodist Men's Group and served on several church committees. Mr. Bates leaves his wife of 28 years, Kathie (Ruckriegle) Bates; four daughters, Heather Rae of Cincinnati, Suzanne Evans and Pam Metzler of Indianapolis, and Monica Ushacoff of Carmel, Calif.; and three sons, Allen, John and Andy Bates, all of Indianapolis.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Hartzell United Methodist Church. Visitation: 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Gilligan Funeral Home, Montgomery Road, and at the church one hour prior to the service.

Patricia Dengler, salon software pioneer

Patricia Dengler, 68, president and co-founder of a company that supplies softwa re to beauty salons, died Thursday.

Mrs. Dengler started a new career in mid-life when she formed The MIKAL Corp. in 1981. It was among the nation's first software development companies for beauty salons.

A beauty industry pioneer, she computerized more than 2,500 salons and spas throughout the country, many of them even before the popular growth of personal computers.

Both of her children, Renda and Fred, worked with her in the business, which remains the nation's longest-running salon software developer.

"She was totally dedicated to the business and was always willing to help," said MIKAL client Kenneth Collopy, owner of Kenneth's Haircutting in Blue Ash. "When I was first computerized, she often helped me with software problems in the middle of the night."

Born in Zanesville, Mrs. Dengler traveled extensively representing her company and hosted biannual user-group conventions, helping clients keep current with the latest technology.

Throughout her battle with cancer, friends said, Mrs. Dengler endured with her positive attitude, her inner strength, her forward vision and her deep faith.

In addition to her daughter and son, she leaves a brother, James I. Dew. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred.

Services: 10 a.m. today at St. Thomas Church in Zanesville. Donations: Salvation Army, 60 N. Riverside Drive, Batavia, Ohio 45103.

Edith Pauline Reissig, GOP activist

Edith Pauline Reissig, a Republican activist and mother of Anthony Reissig II, a n administrator with the Hamilton County Board of Elections, died Saturday in Cape Coral, Fla. She was 88.

Mrs. Reissig, who moved to Cape Coral in 1976, was the former owner-operator of Reissig Realties and Parking, Inc., in Cincinnati.

She was a member of the Women's Republican Club and was personal assistant in the presidential campaign of the late Sen. Robert A. Taft, who ran for the presidency in 1948.

Other survivors are a daughter, Patricia McDonough, of Coral Springs, Fla.; five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Her husband, Anthony, preceded her in death.

Services are today at the Metz Chapel, 1306 Lafayette St., Cape Coral.
