Marjorie Ruth Carpenter

CARDINGTON -- Marjorie Ruth Carpenter, age 91, of County Road 135, Cardington, died peacefully Friday morning, Dec. 12, 2003, at Kingston Care Center in Marion.

Marjorie was born on Feb. 24, 1912, to the late Arthur and Roma (Gillson) Sellers.

On Dec. 31, 1936, in Mansfield, Ohio, Marjorie married Donald O. Carpenter, and he preceded her in death.

Throughout her lifetime, Marjorie was a farmer's wife and homemaker. She attended the First United Methodist Church in Cardington and was active in the chancel choir for 50 years.

Survivors include her son, Richard Carpenter (Karen) of Columbus; sister, Lucille Heacock of Cardington; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington on Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at the First United Methodist Church in Cardington with Pastor John  Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Glendale Union Cemetery.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider Quality of Life Hospice or the First United Methodist Church in care of the Gompf Funeral Home.

Stephen G. Isett

DELAWARE -- Stephen G. Isett, 52, Delaware, passed away at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware.

Born Feb. 2, 1951, in Marion, he was the son of Frederick W. Isett and Dorothy E. Baer Isett; his mother survives in Pinellas Park, Fla.

On July 9, 1977, in Columbus Grove, he married Cheryl J. Plotner; she survives.

He was self-employed as a computer programmer and member of Forest Lawn Presbyterian Church.

He is also survived by a sister, Barbara J. (Gregory) Zoker, Plain City.

The funeral is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at Denzer-Farison-Hottinger Funeral Home with Donald Bryant officiating. Burial is in Grand Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Marion County Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Irene H.M. Ireland

MOUNT GILEAD -- Irene H. M. Ireland, 90, of Mount Gilead, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, in the Morrow County Hospital Extended Care Facility.

Friends may call at the Craven Funeral Home in Mount Gilead on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The Rev. Bruce Hartley will conduct funeral services there Saturday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Galion.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 75 East High Street, Mount Gilead, OH 43338.

James F. Rensch

MOUNT GILEAD -- James F. Rensch, 78, of U.S. 42, Mount Gilead, Ohio, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at his home.

He was born in Galion, Ohio, on Jan. 10, 1925, the son of the late Homer F. and Hilda Plack Rensch.

He graduated from Galion High School in 1942 prior to serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. He moved here from Columbus in 1952. He was a fruit and sheep farmer who also enjoyed gardening. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Mount Gilead.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy M. Cronenwett Rensch; two sons, Doug (Shelly) Rensch of Columbus, Ohio, and Tom (Nancy) Rensch of Mount Gilead, Ohio; two daughters, Judy Rensch of Minneapolis, Minn., and Susan Rensch of Shelby, Ohio; six grandchildren, Adam and Carlie, Douglas II, Erica and Jason, Elisabeth, Victoria and Marie; two great-grandchildren, Salina and Logan; a brother, Elwood Rensch of Virginia; and two sisters, Evelyn Decker of Columbus, Ohio, and Virginia Rensch of Galion, Ohio.

Two brothers, Edward and Kenneth, also preceded him in death.

Friends may call at the Craven Funeral Home in Mount Gilead on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. Pastor Dennis L. Braun will conduct funeral services in First Presbyterian Church on Friday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Bryn Zion Cemetery.

Larry Roger Hill Sr.

May 29, 1941-December 14, 2003

NEVADA -- Larry Roger Hill Sr., 62, formerly of Seymour, Ind., died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at the residence of his sister Carolyn in rural Nevada. He had lived with her for the past two years.

Born in Sycamore, he was the son of the late Cassius and Mattie (Barth) Hill.

On Jan. 15, 1974, he married Sandra Howard and she preceded him in death May 10, 2001.

He is survived by six sons, C. Joseph Fischer of California, Michael Hill Sr. and John Fischer, both of Seymour, Ind., Bruce Fischer of Virginia, Larry Hill Jr. and Patrick Hill, both of Florida; and a daughter, JoAnna Hill of Ohio; 33 grandchildren, two brothers, Robert Hill of Ohio and Ronald Hill of Indiana; four sisters, Amy Conn, Carolyn Shook and Susie Clady, all of Ohio, and Ada Morton of New Jersey.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Lynne Hill, a grandson Chase Michael Jarrett, three brothers Harold, Richard and Jerry Hill, two sisters, Phyllis Hill Eckelberry and Vivian Hill.

He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Seymour and worked for the Cummins Technical Center and retired after 27 years of service. He was a charter member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge and earned Fellowship (Fellow). He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in North Vernon, Coffee Creek Conservation Club, The Indiana Bass Club and REACT.

Calling hours will be Thursday at the Voss & Sons Funeral Service from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service. Funeral will be Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. D. G. Morris officiating. Burial will be at the Marion Baptist Cemetery in Jennings Co., Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.

Francis 'Ed' Hendrickson

RICHWOOD -- Funeral arrangements are pending with the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood for Francis "Ed" Hendrickson, age 80, of Richwood. He died late Wednesday evening, Dec. 17, 2003, at his home surrounded by his family.

Virgil D. Denton

CARDINGTON -- Virgil D. Denton, age 89, of County Road 169, Cardington, died Thursday morning, Dec. 18, 2003, at Woodside Village Care Center.

He was born Feb. 26, 1914, in Ashley, to the late Owen W. and Fredia (Wood) Denton.

Virgil was married on Feb. 26, 1939, in Cardington, to Marguerite Heacock. She preceded him in death on Feb. 20, 1992, after 53 years of marriage.

A lifelong farmer, Virgil had worked with the local schools' FFA groups, served as a Lincoln Township Trustee and had co-founded the Morrow County Junior Sheperds Club. He was also a member of the Cardington First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Denny Denton of Fredericktown; a daughter, Karen Stephens of Cardington; six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Denton of Cardington; and a sister, Maxine Bont of Mount Gilead.

In addition to his wife and parents, Virgil was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.

Friends may call Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at Gompf Funeral Home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at 11 a.m. with Pastor John  Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions are requested to consider Hospice of Morrow County or the Cardington Emergency Squad in care of Gompf Funeral Home.
