She specialized in portraits and theatrical photos. Her clients included singers and entertainers from the heyday of the Beverly Hills Supper Club and local performers.

She was best known for her portraits and theatrical work.

"She was very picky. It had to be just so or it went in the waste basket," said her husband, James Frishe.

"She took a lot of entertainers. And she wasn't very easy on them. She would put them in poses and worked with the light. She wanted the results and that's what she got," he said.

She was president of the Professional Photographers Association of Greater Cincinnati in 1959, a member of the Professional Photographers Association of Kentucky, and president of the Zonta Club of Cincinnati in 1969-70.

She received several awards for her work. She was listed in the "World Who's Who of Women."

Lifelong pilot 'Fred' Link 'just had to be flying'

Fidelis "Fred" Link, 85, of Anderson Township, whose long career as an airplane pilot ranged from flying small crop dusters to big Air Force bombers, died Sunday.

"Flying was his life," said Mr. Link's daughter, Connie Merrill. "He just had to be flying."

Mr. Link logged more than 44,000 flying hours, which calculates to spending more than five years of his life in the air.

In World War II, he was an adjutant to Gen. Douglas MacArthur and traveled with him.

Later in Cincinnati, Mr. Link was a pilot for Vulcan Oil and Senco Products. After retiring from Senco, where he also was technical services manager, he worked as a private flying instructor.

A native of the St. Louis area, Mr. Link built model airplanes as a boy and idolized Charles Lindbergh. As a teen, his first airplane ride was with a barnstorming pilot flying out of a recently harvested wheat field.

"He was selling rides at a penny-per-pound of gross weight, which was a fair bargain in my case," Mr. Link wrote in his memoirs.

"The experience was unbelievable. No sense of height or speed. All normally familiar objects appeared in miniature below. It was as if the first step off of planet Earth."

Mr. Link went on to pilot gliders, crop dusters in Mississippi, Air Force craft, passenger planes for Ozark Airlines and company planes.

During World War II, Mr. Link spent 39 months in the Pacific area, flying night bombing raids, fighter missions and piloting virtually every type of Air Force plane used in the war. He was the personal pilot of several generals and retired after 10 years in the Air Force as a colonel.

"I admired greatly his skill in handling any sort of plane," praised Lt. Gen. Robert Richardson, who spent 800 hours in the air with Mr. Link during World War II.

Besides flying, Mr. Link also enjoyed writing, jogging and archery.

Other survivors include two daughters, Carolyn McKenney and Connie Merrill; sons Donald, Edward and Philip, and eight grandchildren.

Services: 10 a.m. Friday at the T.P. White & Sons Funeral Home, 2050 Beechmont Ave. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials: the Alzheimer's Association, 644 Linn St., Cincinnati 45203.
