Foreman White, 102, appreciated technology

A fan of technology, Ralph Foreman White lived through a century full of changes it wrought. He was born in 1898, in a world not yet dominated by cars or radio, and died Saturday looking forward to getting a Web TV to explore the Internet.

Mr. White, 102, a long-time resident of Mount Lookout, was an office manager and traveling salesman. He retired in 1959 after 21 years at construction materials manufacturer Cinder Products.

His daughter, Ruth Mary Himes, said he was an accomplished troubleshooter around the office. He had a flair for ironing out disagreements and finding solutions to difficult problems, she said.

"He should have been a diplomat," Mrs. Himes said.

Mr. White attended both Walnut Hills High School, where he was president of the senior class of 1919, and Cincinnati Art Academy.

Although he never fulfilled his dream of becoming a professional artist, he drew, painted and took photographs for much of his life.

He was a 32nd degree Mason and earlier this year received an 80-year clock award from Hyde Park Mason Lodge No. 589.

Mr. White 's wife, Myrne, died in 1967.
