Velva M. Pinkerton

MOUNT GILEAD -- Velva M. Pinkerton, 93, passed away at 1:05 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, at Woodside Village Care Center in Mount Gilead.

Born July 16, 1910, in Hurricane, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Wilbert and Martha (Smith) Hager.

She married Gilmer B. Pinkerton and he died in 1953.

She had been employed at Henney and Cooper as a cook.

She is survived by two daughters, Maxine Ambrose, Marion, and Dorine Ann Calbert, Columbus; a son, David Ray Pinkerton, Buckeye Lake; a sister, Maggie Keeling, Hurricane, W.Va.; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Leo Pinkerton, and a sister, Edith Holton.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Grand Prairie Cemetery with the Rev. Victoria Powers-Smith officiating. Friends may call 10-11 a.m. Monday at the Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Carol J. Heid

NORTHPORT, Ala. -- Carol J. Heid, 65, of Northport, Ala., and formerly of Indianapolis, Ind., passed away Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, in Plantation Manor in McCalla, Ala.

She was a homemaker.

She was born April 10, 1938, in Marion, Ohio, to the late Rev. Martin E. and Ruth Hollensen. Her father was minister of Emanuel Lutheran Church for more than 40 years.

Mrs. Heid was a member of the Holy Comforter Anglican Church in Montevallo, Ala.

Survivors include her husband, Louis F. Heid III; daughter Dr. Jill J. Martin; son, Louis F. Heid IV; grandchildren, Meghan E. Hawkes, Tiffany A. Heid and Louis F. Heid V; sister, Dorothy R. Baughman.

Graveside services were Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery at Glenns Valley. Visitation was Friday, Dec. 12 in the G.H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Ave.

Claire Emelia Strickler

MARION -- Claire Emelia Strickler, 86, formerly of Kirkpatrick, passed away at 5:20 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at Kingston Residence of Marion where she had been residing.

Born April 18, 1917, in Logan, she was the daughter of the late Alexander F. and Clara Mae Dauber White .

On July 22, 1945, in Kirkpatrick she married John A. Strickler; he died Jan. 9, 1998.

She had been a school teacher with the Marysville Schools. She was a member of Kirkpatrick Church of Christ, graduate of Ohio University, member of DAR and Ohio Teacher's Association.

She is survived by nieces and nephews, James (Ann) Hill, Robert Strickler, Arlene Lawless, Marvin (Ardella) Hill, Paul (Betty) Hill, Sue (Jeff) Tennant, Sally (Larry) Buck and sister-in-law, Sarah Hill-Leslie. She was preceded in death by a sister, Hester Lee White .

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Monday at the Kingston Residence of Marion with Chaplain the Rev. Daniel Kiger officiating. Private burial is in Caledonia Cemetery. Arrangements by Denzer-Farison-Hottinger Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Quality of Life Hospice or charity of the donor's choice.

Erma R. Davis

MARION -- Erma R. Davis, 74, 175 Community Drive, died at 8:15 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, in Community Health Care Center.

Born June 27, 1929, in Marion, she was the daughter of the late Hiram and Effie Huffman.

Her husband, Earl O. Davis Sr., preceded her in death Dec. 22, 1990.

She was employed in sales at Wells Department and Kings Department stores.

She is survived by two sons, Randy (Karinda) Davis of Marion and Earl (Jean) Davis Jr. of Grove City; two daughters, Donna (Robert) Crabtree of Marion and Debra Davis of Dayton; a brother, Robert Huffman of Marion; three sisters, Dorthea Severns, Virginia Siler and Sue Shockey; grandchildren, Tracy (Richard) Robins of Marion and Anthony and Derek Davis of Grove City; great-grandchildren, Britany Crabtree, Dakota Kerns and Madison Robins.

She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Lester, Frank and Donald Huffman; four sisters, Marjie Brown, Loretta Welch, Leona Chapman and Doris Chapman; and a great-grandchild, Ashley Kerns.

Friends may call 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Radnor Cemetery in Radnor.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Judy May McClain

RICHMOND -- Judy May McClain, 49, of Caledonia, Ohio, formerly of Richmond, passed away at 11 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, in Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio, following a three-month illness.

Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, at the Everhart Funeral Home, 110 W. Main St., Richmond, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Burial will follow in Fort Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Amyloidosis Research Foundation.

Mary McClintock

CARDINGTON -- Mary "Aldine" McClintock, age 75, of County Road 166, Cardington, died Friday afternoon Jan. 9, 2004, at Marion General Hospital. Arrangements are pending at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington.

H.R. Canter

MARION -- H.R. Canter, 53, of Marion, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, after an extended illness in Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. Arrangements are being handled by Boyd Funeral Home.

Lois J. Thacker

MARION -- Lois J. Thacker, 75, of 438 Girard Ave., Marion, died at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, at Marion General Hospital.

She was born July 8, 1928, in Columbus, to the late Louis and Ruth (Walton) Raybourn.

She was employed by Nippert Electric as a machinist and a member of St. Mary Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Ruth Shoemaker, Marion; three sons, Mark Thacker, Lexington, Ky., Terry (Ruth) Thacker, Marion, and Robert Thacker Jr., Marion; one brother, David Raybourn, Galaway; one sister, Shirley Raybourn, Reynoldsburg; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Robert Thacker; two daughters, Mary Ann Thacker, and Kimberly Hale; and two brothers, Larry and Allen Raybourn.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at St. Mary Church with Father Michael Nimocks officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors.

Memorial contributions can be made in care of Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors.
