Minnie Taylor, led Ky.'s Mission Friends
Minnie Bell Taylor, 80, former state director of the Mission Friends program of the Kentucky Baptist Convention, died Sunday.
From 1970 through 1975, Mrs. Taylor traveled across Kentucky and helped Baptist churches start Mission Friends programs that encouraged children to become "missionaries" in their communities by helping their parents and other children.
"She came from a religious family and she was very dedicated to her church work," said her husband of 62 years, George Taylor of California, Ky.
She also was a favorite of children in her community.
"It was not surprising for neighbor children to be at our breakfast table," said her son, George Mosley of Alexandria. "Everyone wanted Minnie Taylor to be their mom. Even adults called her 'Mom.' "
Other survivors include a son, William Mosley of Falmouth; daughters Bonnie Welch of Harrington, Del., Phyllis Rooney of Dayton, and Minnie Styer of California, 21 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sons Steven Mosley and Duane Mosley and daughter Judy Kennish.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at First Twelve Mile Baptist Church in California. Funeral services follows at 11 a.m.

Sherry Noakes, loved holiday festivities
Sherry Ann Noakes loved kids, holidays and parties - especially when all three converged.
Mrs. Noakes, 48, of Burlington, Ky., died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Hospice in Covington after a three-year battle with cancer.
A dedicated volunteer at Burlington Elementary, Mrs. Noakes really got busy when a holiday approached.
"She just enjoyed planning parties, anything with kids, making desserts and snacks," said her husband, Jim.
At Halloween she often made her own costumes and went trick-or-treating with her sons. At Christmas, she made her own wreathes and gave them to teachers and turned her Gallatin Street home into a holiday showplace, he said.
Other survivors include sons, Michael G. and Ryan K., both of Burlington; her mother, Osceola Edwards of Florence; and sisters, Lana K. Breggen of Florence and Diana Phillips of Elsmere.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Florence Cemetery.

Earl W. Lloyd, 89, bottler and farmer
Earl William Lloyd of Alexandria worked 35 years as a bottler with the Wiedemann Brewing Co. in Newport.
After he retired in 1975, Mr. Lloyd was able to turn his attention to his 70-acre farm.
There, upon occasion, he would leave his tractor idle and plow and disk the old-fashioned way - with work horses.
"He was a super old guy, and we'll miss him greatly," said a son, Don Lloyd of Persimmon Grove.
Mr. Lloyd, who suffered from Alzheimer's disease, died Wednesday night at the Baptist Convalescent Center in Newport. The Melbourne, Ky., native was 89.
He kept horses and mules on his farm, where he raised corn and tomatoes and alfalfa.
He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.
Earl Lloyd's wife, Anna Simon Lloyd, died in 1951.
In addition to Don Lloyd, Mr. Lloyd is survived by a son, Bill Lloyd of Alexandria; a sister, Betty Lloyd Moher of Melbourne; a brother, Thomas Lloyd of Melbourne; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Alexandria. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home in Fort Thomas.

Charlane Rust, 59, Kentucky educator
Charlane Baldwin Rust, who helped launch the Head Start program in Pendleton County, Ky., in 1994 and was recognized for outstanding service to the Red Cross during the Falmouth flood, died Friday at her home in Falmouth. She was 59.
Mrs. Rust was named director of the year by Head Start in 1998.
She also taught Catholic religion classes to Pendleton County students from the mid-1980s through the early 1990s. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Falmouth, where she was a lay pastoral minister.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Falmouth.
