Gary Lee Deaton, 48, of Wilder, died at 7:22 a.m. Thursday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. He was an electrician with Cognis Corp., Cincinnati. His wife, Patricia Deaton, died in 1997.

Survivors include a son, Gary Lee Deaton of Newport; stepdaughters, Dawne McGrath of Newnan, Ga., and Shannon Ingram of Hebron; sisters, Barbara Rutherford of Wilder and Connie Powell of Erlanger; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Thursday at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Sand Run Cemetery, Hebron. Anna Jones, 93, of Latonia, died at 5:27 p.m. Sunday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Full Gospel Pentecostal Church, Latonia. Her husband, Louis Jones, died in 1976. A son, James Edward Anderson, died in 1994.

Survivors include sons, Butch  Jones of Latonia, Douglas  Jones and Joe Jones, both of Morning View, and Dennis  Jones of Ryland Heights; daughters, Margaret Owens and Doris Jones, both of Covington, Dorothy Meeks of Cincinnati, Alva  Jones of Palatka, Fla., and Alma Rosfelder of Ryland Heights; 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will begin there at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.

John M. Judy, 78, of Cynthiana, died Sunday at Harrison Memorial Hospital, Cynthiana. He was a retired insurance agent with Lincoln Income Life Insurance Co., a member of Cynthiana Baptist Church and a member of the Lincoln Income Life Hall of Fame. He was an Army veteran.

Survivors include a son, John "Mitchell" Judy of Cynthiana; sisters, Beatrice Routt of Cynthiana and Helen  Jones of Kentontown; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana. Carl Nelson Kettenacker, 91, of Edgewood, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Cen ter South, Edgewood.

Emily Magers, 64, of Hyde Park, died Thursday. She was a retired executive secretary for Aventis Pharmaceuticals. She was a valued adviser with the Hyde Park Square Art Show, was a member of the art show committee, and was an active member of the Inter national Association of Admin istrative Professionals. She al so held positions on the Cincinnati Chapter Board of Directors, including the presi dency and several terms as parliamentary adviser.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Elden A. Good Funeral Home, Hyde Park. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ever green Cemetery, Southgate. Memorials are suggested to Our Hearts, 1738 North Shor tridge Road, Indianapolis, Ind. 46219.

Nellie Mann Meier, 94, of Independence, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Cen ter South, Edgewood. She was a retired cafeteria worker with White 's Tower Elementary School, Independence, and a member of Hopeful Lutheran Church, Florence. Her hus band, William V. Meier, died in 1961. A daughter, Betty L. Adams, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Norman D. Meier of Independence; a sister, Mildred M. Faulbush of Independence; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.

Helen O'Connell, 84, of Carlsbad, Calif., formerly of Fort Mitchell, died Friday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home, Highland Heights. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, Terry O'Connell of Gallatin, Tenn.; a daughter, Sandy O'Connell of Carlsbad; sisters, Mary Niehaus of Fort Mitchell and Bea Spencer of Erlanger; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will begin there at 1 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to charity.

Dorothy Frances Olding, 85, of Downey, Calif., formerly of Erlanger, died Dec. 19 in Torrance, Calif. She was a retired shoe finisher with Specialty Shoes and Fern Shoe companies, California.

Survivors include sisters, Bernice Heithaus of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., Margaret Ficke of Buena Park, Calif., and Virginia Holthaus of Cincinnati; and a brother, Frank Olding of Tucson, Ariz.

Billie Jo Stiene Parent, 29, of Wapakoneta, Ohio, formerly of Burlington, died Friday in Lima, Ohio, in an auto acci dent. She was a homemaker and a volunteer with the Ohio Reads program and Northridge Elementary School in Wapakoneta.

Survivors include her husband, Eric M. Parent; a son, Stephen Michael Allen Parent, at home; her mother, Betty Tanner Stiene; a brother, Jodee Stiene of Burlington; and a sister, Tina Stiene of Burlington.

Katherine Joy "Kitty" Per raut, 76, of Cynthiana, died Monday at Harrison Memorial Hospital, Cynthiana. She was a retired hairdresser and a member of St. Edward Church, Cynthiana. Her husband, Timothy Carroll Per raut, and a son, James Carroll Perraut, both preceded her in death.

Survivors include daugh ters, Crickett Perraut  Woods and Kathy Jo Perraut, both of Harrison County; and five grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Edward Church, Cynthiana. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Burial will be in St. Edward Cemetery, Cynthiana.

Orvil Perry, 87, of Jonesville, died Sunday at Grant Manor, Williamstown. He was a carpenter and farmer, and a re tired employee of Square D Co. He was a member of Con cord Baptist Church.

Survivors include sons, George Perry of Williamstown and Eugene Perry of New Albany, Ind.; a daughter, Doris Lanham of Riverview, Fla.; a brother, Thomas Perry of Dry Ridge; a sister, Ruth Bishop of Worthville; six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Ursula Robbins, 63, of College Hill, died Saturday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. She was a dietician.

Esther Neuwirth Rupard, 87, of Erlanger, died Sunday at Village Care Center, Erlanger. She was a retired cashier with Mabley & Carew, Cincinnati, and a member of Erlanger Baptist Church. She was a member of the church choir and was a Sunday school teacher. Her husband, Joseph Rupard, preceded her in death.

There are no immediate survivors.

Rosella Payne Schadler, 83, of Independence, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Cen ter South, Edgewood.

She was a former em ployee of the Kroger Co.

Virginia Marie Schomaker, 77, of Fort Thomas, died at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker and a member of Siena Seniors of St. Catherine of Siena Church, Fort Thomas. Her husband, Howard A. Schomaker, died in 1974.

Survivors include a daugh ter, Virginia A. Schomaker of Fort Thomas; sons, Stephen H. Schomaker of Fort Thomas and Joseph A. Schomaker of Mount Pleasant, Mich.; a sis ter, Marjorie C. Johanneman of Fort Thomas; a brother, Donald C. Beck of Pittsburgh; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Dennis Sullivan, 53, of Delhi Township, died Friday in Cincinnati. He was a claims specialist for Cincinnati Insurance Co.

Survivors include his wife, Janice James Sullivan; a daughter, Colleen Sullivan; a son, Patrick Sullivan; and brothers, Tom Sullivan, Mike Sullivan and Jim Sullivan.

Donald Earl Tapp, 73, of Covington, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired paint sprayer and assembler with General Motors, Cincinnati, and a member of Community Pentecostal Church, Independence.

Survivors include his wife, Mamie Lee Thompson Tapp; daughters, Lawana Smith of Florence, Sue Smith and Audrey Dotson, both of Covington; sons, Von Omer Tapp of Evington, Va., and Donald "Rusty" Tapp Jr., Dan J. Tapp and Mark John Tapp, all of Covington; sisters, Marie Bond of Louisville, Betty Yazell of Berry, Dorothy Overly of Cyn thiana and Elizabeth Clemons of Florence; 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Zelda Ruth Williams, 72, of Fort White, Fla., died Sunday in Gainesville, Fla.

Survivors include her hus band, Elmer Williams; a daughter, Lynn Davidson of Cincinnati; a son, David Williams of Hayesville, N.C.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Eleanor Seger, advocate for parks and recreation
Eleanor Birkenhauer Seger, a longtime advocate for parks and recreation in Campbell County, Ky., died Saturday.

Mrs. Seger, 90, was a former Highland Heights park commissioner and served on the city's recreation committee for 17 years. A shelter house in Veterans Park is named after her.

Mrs. Seger never graduated from high school, but passed an entrance exam to get into the University of Cincinnati's night school and earned a degree in interior decorating. She would later work as an interior decorator for Shillito's and Pogue's department stores.

Survivors include four sons, Charles Seger of Highland Heights, Ky., Daniel Seger of Greenville, S.C., Herbert Seger of Southgate, Ky., and John J. Seger Jr. of Alexandria, Ky.; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas.

Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 6612 Dixie Highway, Suite 2A, Florence, Ky. 41042.
