Dorian Ruth Perlongo

MARION -- Dorian Ruth Perlongo, age 87, formerly of Plymouth, Mich., and Marion resident since 1981, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at Alter Care of Bucyrus.

Private arrangements and burial in Plymouth, Mich., are being handled by Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors.

Carlton Eugene Jenkins

DELAWARE -- Carlton Eugene Jenkins Jr., 31, Delaware, and formerly of Marion, passed away Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, in Delaware.

Born July 12, 1972, in Marion, he is the son of Carlton Eugene (Ruth) Jenkins Sr. of Richwood and Linda Frances (John) Morrissey of Marengo.

He was employed at Mitchell's Car Wash in Delaware and had formerly farmed in Marengo.

In addition to his parents, he is also survived by two daughters, Cassandra and Kala Conkle of Marion; his grandmothers, Lillian Clark of Marion and Doris Gilliam of Richwood; a sister, Audrey Havranek of Marengo; six stepsisters, Paula Morrissey, Vicki Dick, Ruth Ann Morrissey, Kelly Tillman, Susan Potter and Mary Ann Morrisey; two stepbrothers, Johnny and Vince Morrissey and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at the Boyd Funeral Home. Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.

Dorothy M. Mitchell

MOUNT GILEAD -- Dorothy M. Mitchell, 90, of Ohio 19, Mount Gilead, Ohio, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, in the Morrow County Hospital Extended Care Facility.

She was born in Lisbon, Ohio, on July 12, 1913, the daughter of the late Dan and Hazel (Marshall) McKee.

Dorothy helped operate a family farm and was dedicated to her family. She was a member of the Williamsport United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and was active with the Church Missions. She was also a member of the Larkin Club and the Johnsville Band Boosters.

She is survived by two sons, Dan (Mildred) Mitchell of Prospect, Ohio, and Dean (Beth) Mitchell of Mount Gilead, Ohio; a daughter, Sandra (Bill) Houk of Mount Gilead, Ohio; five grandchildren, Melody, Heidi, Dan, Tina and Dale; five great-grandchildren, Megan, Amber, T.J., Rosie and Shane; and many special friends.

Her husband, Donald H. Mitchell, whom she married Aug. 20, 1933, preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 1989. A brother, Urson McKee, and sisters, Mary McKee and Esther Hollinger, also preceded her in death.

The Rev. Brent Miller will conduct private family services in the Craven Funeral Home in Mount Gilead. Burial will follow in Rivercliff Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Williamsport United Methodist Church.

Zelma G. Carpenter Huebner

WESTERVILLE -- Zelma G. Carpenter Huebner, age 87, of Columbus Colony Elderly Care, Westerville, formerly of Marion, passed away Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004.

She was born on Aug. 19, 1916, in Batesville, Ohio, daughter of Alva and Mary Carpenter.

She was preceded in death by loving husband, Milton B., who died in 1995. They were married for 54 years. Also, was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Mary Lois Suhr.

Zelma graduated from Ohio School for the Deaf. She was a great mother, and is survived by her sons, Richard (Nancy) Huebner of Westerville, Roger Huebner of Columbus and Jerry (Mary) Huebner of Nashport, Ohio; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; sisters, Olive Maurer of Columbus, Lenna (Alfred) Clauss of North Olmsted, Dorothy (Bob) Morris of Summerfield, Norma (McKinley) Morris of Summerfield; brothers, Rodney (Erma) Carpenter of Quaker City, Bobby (Elaine) Carpenter of West Lafayette, Herbert (Esther) Carpenter of Quaker City, Frank (Bessie) Carpenter of Sarahsville, Max (Sharon) Carpenter of Quaker City and Connie (Marsha) Carpenter of Westerville, numerous nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Schoedinger North Chapel, (5554 Karl Road, Columbus, OH 43229), where a funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004. The Rev. Richard Burnett officiating. Private family interment in Marion, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CCH II Chairs and Table Fund, Ohio School for the Deaf Alumni Association, 901 Sunbury Rd. Westerville, OH 43081.

Gerald B. 'Butch' Clark Jr.

MARION -- Gerald B. "Butch" Clark Jr., 51, 693 Sugar St., Marion, passed away at 2:05 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at his residence.

Born March 20, 1952, in Marion, he was the son of the late Gerald Clark Sr. and Gladys (Lesig) Clark.

On Oct. 24, 1992, in Marion, he married Shelby E. (Carroll) Clark; she survives in Marion.

He was a heavy equipment operator for 40 years at Sims Brothers Inc. in Marion. He attended Marion Enterprise Baptist Church.

He is also survived by three daughters, Nikki Clark, at home, Kelly Castle, Marion, Crystal Clark, Columbus; two brothers, Don Clark, Kentucky, Jerry Clark, Marion; two sisters, Mrs. Larry (Barbara) Ricketts, Prospect, Mrs. David (Debra) Call, Kentucky; a grandchild, Payge Moore; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Clark.

The funeral is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, at Marion Enterprise Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred Buckner officiating. Burial is in Chapel Heights Memory Gardens. Friends may call 5-9 p.m. Friday at the church. Arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Darrell Carroll, Larry J. Williams, Larry W. Williams, Kenny Jeffers, Tim Sams, Timmy Sams, Corey Carrell, Justin Carrell, Larry Payne, Jerry Mitchell and Josh Bidwell.

Beverly A. (Gunn) Taylor

MOUNT GILEAD -- Beverly A. (Gunn) Taylor, 66, of U.S. 42, Mount Gilead, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, in Morrow County Hospital. During her protracted illness, she was sustained by her faith and by the love and prayers of her many friends.

Beverly was born in East Chicago, Ind., on April 30, 1937, the daughter of the late John L. Gunn and Gwendolyn Sisson Gunn Naragon of Avon Park, Florida.

Beverly graduated from Riley High School in South Bend, Ind., and received her B.S. in speech and hearing therapy from Indiana University. She then received her M.S. in guidance and counseling from The Ohio State University. At the age of 58 she received her R.N. degree from Marion Technical College.

Beverly assisted her husband, Dr. William Taylor, for 13 years at the Village Veterinary Clinic. Later she was employed as a nurse by Woodside Village Care Center in Mount Gilead. Geriatric nursing was her joy. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder and on the church board. She was a member of the Columbus Museum of Art, the Columbus Symphony and the Red Hat Society. She had also served on the Mount Gilead school board. Beverly enjoyed gardening, reading, bird watching, traveling. She was dedicated to her family.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Dr. William M. Taylor, whom she married May 3, 1968; a son, Luke (Becky)  Taylor or Minneapolis, Minn.; a daughter, Susan (Jarett Millar)  Taylor of Minneapolis, Minn.; a foster son, Matthew (Karen) Bartholomew of Haram, Ga.; two brothers, David Gunn of Elkhart, Ind., and John Gunn of Indianapolis, Ind.; and a sister, Sharon Gerkin of Columbus.

The Reverends Dennis Braun and Jan Dykstra will celebrate her life and Christian faith in a memorial service at the First Presbyterian Church, Saturday, Feb. 21, at 2 p.m.

Rather than flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or the Sloan Kettering Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 750, New York, NY 10131.

Arrangements are in the care of the Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Gilead.

Melvin Wesley Lehner

MARION -- Melvin Wesley Lehner, 87, Robinson Avenue, passed away at 11:10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at his residence.

Born Dec. 20, 1916, in Richland Township, he was the son of the late Wesley and Clara (Fetter) Lehner.

On Sept. 25, 1935, in Greenup, Ky., he married Pauline E. Ruth; she died Oct. 22, 1993.

He retired from Commercial Steel in 1973. He was secretary of Moose Lodge 889 for 10 years. The Moose was his love. He was an active member for 60 years, receiving his Pilgrim degree in 1970 and life membership in 1975. He was also a member of the 800 Club, past state president and was the state bowling chairman for 23 years. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church.

He is survived by a son, M. Eugene (Joyce) Lehner of Marion; two daughters, Mrs. Barbara (Marvin) Bosh of Marion, Mrs. Charlene (David) Mattison, Grandbury, Texas ; six grandchildren, Randy Lehner, Douglas and Tim Bosh, all of Marion, Becky Hackenbracht, Galena and Kevin and Mark Mattison, Texas ; 13 grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Reeder, Marion. He was preceded in death by a sister, Gertrude Heimlich.

The funeral is 10 a.m. Monday at Denzer-Farison-Hottinger Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Weston  Jones officiating. Burial is in Grand Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call 2-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home where a Moose Lodge service will be held at 7 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church or Heartland Hospice, 6500 Busch Blvd. No. 210, Columbus, OH 43229.
