Margaret Lemker Keiley

Margaret Lemker Keiley believed anything worth doing was worth doing properly.
So when Mrs. Keiley was an elevator operator at the old McAlpin's store in downtown Cincinnati, she stood all day instead of periodically resting on the elevator stool.

Later, when she was a garment inspector at the old Heinlein's shirt factory in Cincinnati, she insisted that every shirt that went through her hands be up to standard, with no defects or extraneous threads.

And when she volunteered to run parish festivals at the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, she made sure they were well organized and adequately staffed.

She "believed that if she had a job to do, she'd do it right," said her daughter Margaret Moreno of Kenwood. Mrs. Keiley, formerly of Covington, died Tuesday at Carmel Manor in Fort Thomas. She was 93.

Her husband, George Keiley, died in 1987.

Also surviving are another daughter, Judith Reilly of Ryland Heights; nine grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, Covington. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington.
