Mildred P. 'Millie' Brown

MARION -- Mildred P. "Millie" Brown, 74, of Mautz Yeager Road, passed away at 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton, Fla.

Born March 15, 1929, in Vincennes, Ind., she was the daughter of Noah Purcell and Cula (Updike) Purcell.

On Jan. 7, 1949, in Romney, Ind., she married George K. Brown; he survives.

A member of Epworth United Methodist Church, she was active in golf, tennis and bowling at the Marion Country Club, Junior Service Guild where she did makeup and was active in skits for the Follies, Sis Investment Club and Circulating Book Club, Altar Guild at church, certified scuba diver, Marion Careline, Marion AA, Marion Crawford County ADAMH Board. She enjoyed international travel for more than 30 years with her husband. Her favorite places were Singapore, Hong Kong, Kenya, Rome, Cairo and Paris.

In addition to her husband, she is also survived by her children, Sandra Kay (Lee) Myers, Marion, Sherry Dawn (Rick) Kelly, Marion, Crickette (Paul E.B.) Brown-Glad, San Mateo, Calif., Brooks K. (Amy) Brown, Marion, Christi Marie (Ralph) Holmes, Prospect, and 12 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie.

The funeral is 10 a.m. Thursday at Epworth United Methodist Church with the Rev. Max Williams officiating. Burial is in Marion Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for emphysema may be made to the American Lung Association.

Bobby Floyd Sr.

MARION -- Bobby Floyd Sr., 73, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at Riverside Methodist Hospital.

Born Aug. 15, 1930, in Beloit, Wis., he was the son of the late George and Katherine (Walls) Floyd.

On July 31, 1950, in Indiana, he married Vera (Spates) and she survives in Marion.

A resident of Marion for 52 years, he was a tool and die maker with Eaton for 42 years where he also served on the fire brigade. Bobby was a member of the Mayes Community Temple Church of God in Christ, the Medgar Evers Elks #1547, the Boilermakers Union, the NAACP, and he served on the Democratic party committee.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Barbara E. (Michael) LaVette of Marion; sons, Robert G. (Marilyn) Floyd Jr. of Columbus, Victor L. (Michelle R.) Floyd of Marion, Thurmon (Lucinda D.) Floyd of Marion; a sister, Betty Washington of Rockford, Ill.; brothers, Richard Floyd of Rockford, Ill., Charles Floyd of Columbus; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at the Mayes Community Temple Church of God in Christ with Elder John Mayes officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Heights Memory Gardens. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. tonight at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mayes Community Temple Church of God in Christ.

Arrangements are being handled by Boyd Funeral Home.

Roger Keener

MARION -- Roger Keener, 47, Marion, passed away at 1 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at his residence in Marion.

Born Jan. 21, 1957, in Charleston, W.Va., he was the son of the late Noah R. Keener and Nina (McLaughlin) Keener; his mother survives in Caledonia.

A U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of the American Legion in Caledonia.

He is also survived by a son, Brandon Keener of Galion; three daughters, Heather Keener of Crestline, Christina Keener of Galion, Ashley Keener of Galion; 11 brothers, Hershal McLaughlin of Glen Bernie, Mo., Bill Keener of Harrisburg, Pa., Grover Keener of Charleston, W.Va., Don Nicholas of Marion, Jerry Nicholas of Cartersville, Ga., James Nicholas of Orrville, Kenneth Keener of Galion, Gene Keener of Caledonia, Mike Keener of Caledonia, Steve Keener of  Oklahoma and Warren Keener of Marion; five sisters, Stella Murphy of Marion, Aleatha Hodge of Charleston, W.Va., Frances McCormick of Charleston, W.Va., Cindy Nicholas of Waverly and Ruth Nicholas of Mount Gilead; three grandchildren and his fianceé, Phyllis Eades of Marion. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Keener.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, at the Church of Christ in Caledonia with Minister Larry Fridley officiating. Burial is in Caledonia Cemetery. Friends may call 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Boyd Funeral Home and 10-11 a.m. Monday at the Church of Christ in Caledonia.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Charlotte J. Livingston

MARION -- Charlotte J. Livingston, age 71, of Marion, died early Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 18, 2004, at her home.

She was born Feb. 28, 1932, in New Lexington, to the late John and Garnett (Vernon) Murray.

She was a homemaker, had worked in housekeeping at the old Marion General Hospital and then the current Marion General Hospital, former member of the Abundant Life Assembly of God Church in Marion. She enjoyed camping and cooking. The joy of her life was her family: her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On June 16, 1969, at the Grace Baptist Church in Marion, she married William "Bill" Livingston and he survives.

Also surviving are children Judy Cochran of Mount Gilead, Pam Franklin of Marion, Lori (Nicholas) Yeager of Delaware, Tracey Livingston of Marion, John (Patty) Ryan of Marion and Mike (Pam) Ryan of Marion; grandchildren, Timothy Landon, Heather Cellar, Jasmyne Landon, John Ryan, Jason Ryan, Billy Cochran, Sarah Yeager, Whitney Ryan,  Taylor Livingston and Morgan Hollenbach; stepchildren, Sally Jo Smith, Connie Buskirk, Bill Livingston, Tim Livingston, Sheila Dickerson and Renee Morgan; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous stepgrand- and great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood where the funeral will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. Chaplain Dan Kiger will officiate. Burial will be held in the Claibourne Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Quality of Life Hospice at 278 Barks Road, Marion, OH 43302.

Harold L. Dildine

MORRAL -- Harold L. Dildine, age 82, of Morral, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, in the afternoon at the Mount Carmel West Hospital in Columbus.

Arrangements are pending with the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood.

Esther R. Blank

MARION -- Esther R. Blank, age 96, of Marion, died at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at Community Health Care Center in Marion, Ohio.

She was born June 25, 1907, in Marion, Ohio, to the late Harry and Melinda (Krause) Long.

She was the widow of Robert D. Blank, whom she married July 7, 1924, in Monroe, Mich. He died March 31, 1993.

She was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church and past member of Pleasant Homemakers and member of the Pleasant Garden Club.

She is survived by two sons, Richard D. (Joan) Blank, Wilmington, N.C., and James A (Joann) Blank, Marion; three daughters, Patricia A. (Howard W.) Davids, Marion, Phyllis (Elden) Tyson, Salem, S.C., and Mary Lou (John) Witmer, Purserville, Va.; brother, Ronald (Caroll) Long, Prospect, Ohio; sister, Norma Jean Hughes, Marion; 19 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. One sister, Elizabeth Dix; one son; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild preceded her in death.

Public calling hours are 4-7 p.m. Monday. A private funeral service will be held Tuesday at Denzer-Farison-Hottinger-Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Weston  Jones officiating. Burial will be in Marion Cemetery.

The family requests memorials be in the form of contributions to Emanuel Lutheran Church Radio Fund.

Opal Jean Sproull

MARYSVILLE -- Opal Jean Sproull, 64, of Marysville, died Saturday morning, Feb. 21, 2004, at her residence.

She was retired from the Scotts Company after 26 years of service and since retirement, operated Grandma Opal's Sewing from her home.

Calling hours will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home, 975 N. Maple St., Marysville, where funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Mo Dunn officiating and burial following at Hopewell Cemetery, near Magnetic Springs.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Loving Care Hospice in care of the funeral home.
