McCLASKEY Franklin K. McClaskey, age 73, died March 31, 2001 Doctors Hospital West. Born and raised in Marion, Ohio, retired self employed accountant, U.S. Navy Veteran WWII. Preceded in death by parents Hugh and Camilla McClaskey; brothers Charles and Glen. Survived by loving wife of 52 years, Clara (Betty); daughter, Connie and fiancee Rick Carroll; sons, Ronald (Chrisy) and Jerry McClaskey; grandchildren, Paul Johnson, Lindsey McClaskey; brother, Harry McClaskey; sister, Juanita McClaskey. McWHORTER Clifford "Pearl" McWhorter, 95, died March 28, 2001 Grant Hospital. Retired employee Westinghouse. Preceded in death by parents, wife Pearl, and son Clifford. PACK Lloyd Pack, 81, of Pataskala, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 29, 2001. Member of Heritage Free Will Baptist Church since 1954 and was a Deacon. Veteran of WW II with the Coast Guard. Lloyd worked for North American and retired from COTA in 1983. Survived by his wife of 59 years, Helen Pack; 2 sons, Robert L. (Loretta) Pack of Canal Winchester and Edward A. (Marie) Pack of Moore, Okla.; 1 sister, Jewell Sparks of Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren, Teresa (Matthew) Edic of Columbus, Robert Timothy Pack of Canal Winchester, Kristina (Philip) Hicks and Aaron Pack, both of Norman, Okla. and Amy Pack of Moore, Okla.; great-grandchildren, Timara Pack and William Edic. Preceded in death by his parents Lee and Ethel Pack and 1 brother. ROWLAND Robert C. Rowland, age 55, died unexpectedly Thursday, March 22, 2001 at his residence in Delray Beach, Florida. He was a resident of Columbus, Ohio for many years of his life. Preceded in death by father Charles Rowland. Survived by son, Marcus Rowland; daughter, Heather (Paul) McMullen; granddaughters, Mallory and Haley; brothers, Ronald (Carolyn) Rowland and Daniel (Pat) Rowland; mother, Lorene Rowland; nieces & nephews, aunts & uncles, and cousins. Friends may call at JW ROSS FUNERAL HOME, 1173 E. Hudson St., Columbus, Saturday, April 7 at 3 p.m. Memorial service at 3:30 p.m.

SCHLEZINGER Nathan S. Schlezinger, 92, of Wyncote, who served as chief neurologist at Wills Eye Hospital and a professor of neurology at  Jefferson Medical College, died Friday of pneumonia at his home. Upon receiving his degree of doctor of medical sciences in neurology and psychiatry from Columbia University in 1938, Dr. Schlezinger established a private neurology practice in Philadelphia. Within a year he was chief of neurology at Wills Eye Hospital, where he served through 1976. He also served as an attending neurologist at Thomas  Jefferson University Hospital from 1939 to 1990, where he also was a professor of neurology. In addition, he worked as a neurology consultant at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Coatesville. He maintained his private practice through 1990. He specialized in neuro-ophthalmology and myasthenia gravis. A native of Columbus, Ohio, Dr. Schlezinger received a bachelor's degree from Ohio State University in 1930 and a medical degree from  Jefferson Medical College in 1932. He then completed a series of residences at  Jefferson Hospital, Montefiore Hospital in New York, and the Psychiatric Institute in New York. He was a member of several professional organizations, including the American Neurological Association, the American Psychiatric Association, the American Psychoanalytic Association, and the American Medical Association. Dr. Schlezinger wrote 33 articles on neurology in a variety of professional journals. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bobette; children, Lynn Schlezinger, JoAnn Simon and Nan Smolow; one brother, Edward Schlezinger of Columbus, Oh.; and numerous other relatives and friends of Columbus, Oh. Memorial contributions may be made to  Jefferson Medical College Alumni Annual Giving Fund, 1020 Locust St., Room M-41, Philadelphia, 19107.

SMITH Amy Louise (Wolfe) Smith, 86, of London died at 10:25 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2001 in Madison County Hospital. Born March 29, 1915 in New Lexington. She was a daughter of Rev. William F. and Elizabeth D. (Winterhoff) Wolfe. A member of St. John's Lutheran Church in London for more than 60 years; she was very active in the church serving as organist, senior choir member, junior choir teacher and Sunday School teacher. In 1968, she was the London Jaycees Mother of the Year. Survivors include children, David E. Smith and Dennis R. (Carmia) Smith, all of London, Noel V. (Bruce) Bigham of Columbus, Prudence L. Koch of London and Claudia L. (Dr. Martin) Saperstein of Hilliard; grandchildren, Gregory D. Smith of St. Louis, Randal N. (Lin) Smith of Hilliard, Eric B. Smith of Wichita, Ks., Adam D. Smith of London, Ryan M. Smith of Ft. Rucker, Al., Lauren B. Bigham of Columbus, B. Edward "Ted" Bigham of Columbus, Heidi L. Koch of Columbiana, Molly E. Koch of London, Mark (Michael) Baum and son, Brendon of Hilliard, and Matt (Julie) Baum and son Alec of Mt. Sterling; several step great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Theodore "Ted" (Marge) Wolfe of Pensacola, Fl., Bette (Byron) Prushing of Gahanna, John A. (Loretta) Wolfe of Gahanna and Patricia (Dave) Dickendesher of Sandusky, Mich.; numerous nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Ralph D. Kate Smith of Brookville, Fla. and Eugene Dowell of Tampa, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond B. Smith on June 2, 1978; brothers and sister, Richard H. Wolfe, M. Catherine Krumm, and William W. Wolfe. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. John's Lutheran Church, London. Interment will follow in Kirkwood Cemetery. STEVENS Louise M. Stevens, age 86, of Circleville, March 30, 2001 at Logan Elm Care Center. Preceded in death by sister Joyce Ann Smith and brother Cappie "Buss" Smith. Survived by husband of 67 years, James D. Stevens; sons, James (Vivian) Stevens of Circleville and William (Kathy) Stevens of Ashville; grandchildren, James (Nicole) Stevens, Cheryl (Jerry) Mudd, Bruce (Barbara) Stevens, Christine (Steve) Younger, and Michelle (Carl) Goddard; great-grandchildren, Gerri Lynn Mudd, Debby Mudd, Jamie Stevens, Brook Reid, Krysten Goddard, Jessica Stevens, Cole Younger, Justin Reese and  Taylor Reese; sisters, Ruth (Bill) Mosic of Grove City, Bess (Bill) Cummins and Dorothy (Lloyd) Foster of Calif.; brothers, Gail (Kay) Smith of Calif., and Don (Sherry) Smith of Lima, Oh.; many nieces and nephews. TEMPLE Thomas Temple, Jr., age 79, of Grove City, passed away Thursday March 29, 2001 at Mt. Carmel Medical Center. Member of Grove City United Methodist Church. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and served during WW II, Korea and Vietnam. Preceded in death by his brother John Temple. He is survived by his wife, Frankie; children, Timothy (Regina) Temple, Carolyn Temple and Susan (Donald) O'Conner; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, George (Helen) and Charles (Marianne) Temple. TUDAS John H. Tudas, age 79, of Pickerington, died Thursday, March 29, 2001 at his residence. Retired locomotive engineer for the Pennsylvania Rail Road. Veteran WW II U.S. Army, serving during the Normandy D-Day Offensive. Member of Moose Lodge #652, American Legion Post 0011, Lancaster, Lafayette Lodge #652 F&AM and the Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus. Preceded in death by brother Lewis Tudas. TURANCHIK Julie R. Turanchik, age 52, March 30, 2001. Julie was a teacher at Epworth Kindergarten and a member of Second Church of Christ, Scientist. She is survived by parents, Glenn and Jean Colerider; husband, James; and daughters, Oma Laura, and Meredith Anne Turanchik; sisters, Kimberly (Charles) Inglefield, and Tracy (Kyle) Colerider-Krugh. Service will be held Monday, April 2, 2001 7:30 p.m. at the WEIR-AREND FUNERAL HOME, 4221 N. High St. (3 blocks S. of Henderson Rd.), where friends may call 1/2 hour prior to service. VANCE Rosa Nell Vance, age 88, of West  Jefferson, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2001 in Dr's West Hospital, Columbus. She was born February 23, 1913 in Beaver Kentucky, the daughter of the late Levi and Dinah (Hall) Mitchell. Rosa was a member of the Little Angel Baptist church of Groveport. Gardening, cooking, and quilting were some of the things she loved to do. Survivors include; 11 children, Glen (Shirley) Vance of Keller, Tx, Loretta (Franklin) Horn of West  Jefferson, Wince (Brenda) Vance of Chillicothe, Valda (Jack) Dawson of Coschocton, Gilberta (Ron) Lutz of Galloway, Lois Marcum of Gahanna, Peggy (Myron) Crawford of Mt. Sterling, Jim (Debbie) Vance of Galloway, Saundra (Charles) Sapp of Las Vegas, Nv., Gary (Janet) Vance of Goshen Ky., Coy Vance of Columbus; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; a great great granddaughter; brother Drexel (Jean) Mitchell of Groveport. Preceded in death by husband Arthur Vance (1977); son Arthur Vance, Jr.; two grandsons Darius Horn and Randy Vance; great granddaughter Prussia Kauffer; brothers Hillard and Foster Mitchell; sister Olive Walker.
