Mulvane, she had 4 sisters and 2 brothers who preceded in death. Surviving are several nieces and nephews and the Richard and Esther McCarley family. Marie was a former Advertising Manager of American Ceramic Society. Graveside service will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2001 at Green Lawn Cemetery, Columbus. McCLAIN Harold Verle "Mac" McClain, age 81, Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at Doctors Hospital West after a brief illness. Veteran U.S. Army, serving in WW II. Member of Center Lodge #86 F&AM in Johnstown, Oh. and VFW in Alexandria, Oh. Preceded in death by sister Alma Louise Converse. Survived by wife of 45 years, Dorothy Jane; sons, Thomas E. (Maureen) Persinger of Westerville and Stacy J. (Elizabeth) McClain of Chesapeake, Va.; daughters, Bobbie S. (Donald) Wolfe of Columbus, Kathleen B. (Gregory) of Centerville, Oh. and Colleen (James) Geiger of Alexandria, Oh.; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren. Arrangements completed at JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME, 2693 W. Broad St. Private graveside service held at convenience of family at Northlawn Memory Gardens, Westerville, Oh. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.

PEARL Suzanne Pearl, 68, of Delaware Co., died Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at her home. Past Worthy Grand Matron, OES of Ohio. Survived by husband, Robert; 3 children; 5 grandchildren; and brother. PIATT Edward H. Piatt, age 73, Saturday, April 7, 2001 at the Grant Medical Center. A U.S. Army Veteran. Survived by his devoted wife, Ruth; son, James Andrews III; sisters, Viola (Wade) Tobias of Manassa, Va. and Mary Sue (Thomas) Perkins of Jacksonville Fla.; brothers, Samuel Piatt of Richmond, Va., Horace (Mary) Scott of Forestville, Md.; brother-in-law, Samuel Roberts of Albany, Ga.; sister-in-law, Lucille (William) Barnes of Omaha, Ne.; family friends, Maxine Griffin, Gary Williams and Terry Sita Roberts; many other relatives and friends. Funeral 8 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2001 at the Calvary Treemont Missionary Baptist Church, 1255 Leonard Ave. Rev. Dr. Harold Hudson, Officiant. RAMSEY Shane Keith Ramsey, passed away April 8, 2001 in Mt. Carmel Hospital. Shane was born April 6, 2001 to Randy L. and Lisa Y. Ramsey of West  Jefferson. He is survived by a great-grandmother, maternal and paternal grandparents, several aunts and uncles, special friends, Brian, Cathy, Tracy, Patty and Debbie. Randy and Lisa would like to invite every one to visit with them 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2001 in RADER-McDONALD FUNERAL HOME, West  Jefferson.

RICHTER Carrie Pearl Richter, age 93, Monday, April 9, 2001 at Laurels of Norworth. Preceded in death by husband Raymond. Survived by son, Don (Jan) Fickas of Columbus; grandson, Eric (Susan) Fickas; sister, Eunice Wright; numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Richter was a long time member of the Clownettes of Egyptian Temple, Tampa, Fla. A service of celebration will be part of the Easter Sunday Service at Bethel United Methodist Church, 1220 Bethel Rd., 10 a.m. April 15, 2001. RITCHEY Clara Ritchey, Sunday, April 8, 2001 at St. Rita's Home. Born in Garrett, Indiana, the daughter of Frank and Anna Johnson. Preceded in death by husband George; son Ralph and son-in-law Don Kunkler. Survived by daughters, Rita Kunkler of Boca Raton, Fla., Mary Jo (Harold) Weekly of Newark, Oh., Betty (Terry) Caldwell of Perrysburg, Oh., Sr. Christella Ritchey, O.S.F.; and daughter-in-law, Barbara Ritchey; 16 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; good friend of the family, Pat Meredith; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dr. Robert Ritchey, Helen Mallory, Dr. Jim (Marianne) Ritchey, Helen Strapp Ritchey and Nancy Ritchey; many nieces and nephews. RYAN John Orvle Ryan, 53, of Columbus, after a battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by brother Little Richie. He will be deeply missed by his parents, John and Frances Ryan; sisters, Patricia Danielson, Frances Quickle, Shirley Waybright; brothers, Michael Leach, Harold Leach (Gladys), Ronald Leach (Judy). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He served 15 years in the military before being employed by LPI Services. SHERMAN Erla J. Sherman, age 92, of Columbus, died Saturday, April 7, 2001 at Sunrise on the Scioto. She retired from State Auto Insurance Co., where she worked as a key punch operator. She was a founding member of East Columbus Church of Christ. She was active with the State Auto Retirees, and was an avid traveler and euchre player. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles, son Thomas J. Connell, sisters Helen Casto and Lillian (Francis) Caldwell, sister-in-law Jeannie Casto, brother-in-law Fred Stamm. She is survived by granddaughters, Deborah (Joseph) Streb and Sherry Baffert; daughter-in-law, Shirley S. Connell; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Stephanie and Sterling Streb, Taylor, Canyon, Forest and Savannah Baffert; sister, Doris Stamm; brothers, William (Lacy) and Robert Casto; many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2001 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Garden. SMITH Dale F. Smith, 79, of Williamsport, Oh., passed away at his home on Sunday, April 8, 2001. He was born February 10, 1922, the son of Harry and Nellie (Finney) Smith. He served in Merchant Marines in WW II in the Far East Theater. He was a prominent farmer all his life until recently retired. Also served as Monroe Twp. Trustee for many years. He is survived by a brother, Gale (Alice) Smith of Alaska; sister, Evelyn (Leon)  Woods of Fla.; sister, Vivian O'Donnell of Columbus; numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews of Columbus, Oh., Fla. and Md.; several cousins; special friend, Hazel Scott of Tronton, Oh.; very special friend, neighbor and partner, Dale W. Mowery and family of Circleville. A Funeral service will be held Thursday April 12, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. at the PORTER FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Sterling. Rev. Dianne Berger will officiate with the interment to follow in Hebron Cemetery, Monroe Twp. on Crownover Mill Rd. SMITH Mark E. Smith, age 39 of Sarasota, Fla., died unexpectedly Thursday, April 5, 2001 in Sarasota. Formerly of Columbus, Ohio and Detroit, Michigan. Owner and Franchisee of several Domino's Pizza stores in the Sarasota and Naples, Florida area. Former manager and area supervisor of Domino's Pizza in Columbus and Detroit. Former president of the Domino's Franchisee & Owners Association. A 1980 graduate of Westerville North High School and attended the University of Dayton. Mark is survived by his former wife, Denise Smith of Sarasota; son, Mark Jr., and daughter, Brianna; father, Charles Smith of Columbus; sisters, Gabrielle Tammer of Columbus, Virginia (David) Huffman of Upper Arlington, Ann Margaret Heiser of Louisville, Ky.; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jeannine and Joseph Zing of Tampa; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd. (on US Route 62, * mile northeast of Hamilton Rd.), Gahanna. TACKETT Valeria B. Tackett, 83, passed away Monday, April 9, 2001. She was a longtime member of the Barnetts Creek Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by husband Glen V., parents Furman and Shirley (Lambert) Blair, brother Turell Blair, sister Lena Caudill, grandson James K. Porter. She is survived by daughter, Frances (James) Porter; son, Gerald Tackett; granddaughter, Vickie (Paul) Combs; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Alice Brown, Addie Fraizer, Bobbie Jean Watkins; host of nieces and nephews.
