JAY Betty Janet Jay, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001 after a brief illness. A fun-loving, gentle soul, a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend, she will be sorely missed. She loved to travel and was a long-time member of Temple Israel. Preceded in death by her husband Jack G. Jay, she is survived by her children, Susan (Arnold) White, of Columbus, Laurie (Larry) Abramson, of Columbus and Steven Jay, of Santa Barbara, Calif.; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Eric, Andrew and Lauren White and Julia Abramson; brother, Harold Furstman, of Boynton Beach, Fla. Funeral service will be held 11 AM Thursday, April 12, 2001 at SCHOEDINGER MIDTOWN CHAPEL, 229 E. State St. Rabbi Arthur P. Nemitoff officiating. Interment Green Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: Temple Israel, Mt. Carmel Hospice, Voices of Hope, or National Cancer Research Institute.

KENT Dora L. Kent, age 91, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at Arbors West, West  Jefferson, Oh. Retired from the State of Ohio. Preceded in death by husband Ralph, sisters Oma Nicholes and Catherine Miller, brothers Ruben, John, Max and Oliver Daily. Survived by daughter, Rosemary (Jay) Caldwell of Plain City; grandson, Bradley (Cindy) DeLong; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Arielle and Cory; sister, Clarice Parmer. Funeral service Friday 1 p.m. SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W. Broad St., where friends may call Friday 12-1 p.m. Pastor Jerry Caldwell officiating. Interment Pleasant Hill Cemetery, West  Jefferson, Oh.

KING (INGLAND) Viva L. King (Ingland), age 80, of Upper Arlington, passed away Monday, April 9, 2001 at The Ohio State University Specialty Hospital. She was preceded in death by her first husband Julian P. Ingland in 1974 and second husband William W. King on July 24, 2000, parents Clifford E. and Byrdie Scurlock and sister Gertrude Huffman. Viva is survived by her sons, Craig P. (Jody) Ingland and Brent J. (Barb) Ingland, both of Columbus; daughter, Joyce (John) Fidler of Reading, PA; step-children, Wayne (JoAnn) King of Greenville, OH, Shirley (Rev. David) Coolidge of Anderson, IN and Sharon King of Richmond, IN; grandchildren, Jeremy P. Ingland, John B. Fidler, Benjamin A. Ingland, Jenny Dolan and Joey A. Ingland; and great grandson, Brady A. Ingland. Friends may call Wednesday, April 11, 2001 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and 1 hour prior to service from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on April 12, 2001 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., where a funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Rev. Robert I. Mathis officiating. Interment Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Women's Ministries at Meadow Park Church of God, 2425 Bethel Rd., Columbus, Oh. 43220 in her memory.

LACKEY Catherine L. "Katie" Lackey, 78, of Columbus, died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at her residence after a brief illness. Born December 10, 1922 in Logan, Oh. Daughter of the late Harold W. and Myrtle M. (Kitchen) Larimer Sr. Mrs. Lackey was a retired legal secretary for the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services with 32 years of service. Member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Logan. 1940 graduate of Logan High School. Past Matron of OES Venus Chapter #76 in Logan, having received her 50 Year Pin in 1993. Member of Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority, Logan, Public Employee Retirees of Franklin County, BES Retirees of Columbus. Survived by sisters-in-law, Virginia Larimer and Zerna Stiverson, both of Logan; brother-in-law, Chester Lackey, Logan; cousins, Betty Smart, Logan, and Martha Salmans (Frank) Ross, Cambridge; many nieces and nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Marvin Lackey in 1991 and a brother Harold W. Larimer Jr. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2001 at the ROBERTS FUNERAL HOME, 60 W. Hunter St., Logan, Oh., 740-385-2627, with the Rev. Paul L. Elhard officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Logan. Friends may call Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home where Eastern Star Services will be held at 7 p.m.

LILLY Virginia Lee Lilly, age 79, of Columbus, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2001 in Riverside Hospital. She was born September 29, 1921 in Columbus, the daughter of the late Wade C. and Sarah L. (Horn) Simkins. Virginia was a resident of Claremont Village Retirement Community and was a past employee of Lazarus. Survivors include daughter, Linda (Herbert) Urell of Columbus; son, William (Mary) Lilly of Lilly Chapel; three grandchildren, Laura Brooks, Phillip and Zachary Lilly; three brothers, Sam (Dorothy) Simkins of Falmouth, Mass., Richard (Rowena) Simkins of London, Ohio, John (Marian) Simkins of North Carolina; sister-in-law, Marian Miller of Columbus; brother-in-law, Morris Lilly of Lilly Chapel. She was preceded in death by parents and husband Albert W. Lilly. Memorial Service 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the RADER-McDONALD FUNERAL HOME, West  Jefferson with Rev. Fred Kinne officiating. There will be no visitation.

LOHR-WALKER To our loving daughter Madison, What a difference one day makes One day our lives contained all we could have wanted. The next day our daughter's short life had ended. It was all so quick, life, birth, then death. The little time you spent here put a big impact on our lives. We all will survive, as will your memory. Much love Angel. Mommy and Daddy. LOOMIS Joan M. Loomis, 80, Tuesday, April 9, 2001 in Sarasota, Fla. A former 50 year resident of Columbus and owner of Loomis Advertising Agency in Columbus, where she was retired. Prior to establishing her own agency, she worked for the John Barcroft Agency in Columbus. She was a graduate of Ohio State University. Survived by a brother, Joseph MacKinnon of Columbus; and two sons, Peter A. Loomis of Alexandria, Va. and John C. Loomis of Sarasota, Fla.; many nieces and nephews other relatives and friends. Arrangements are being handled by Hawkins Funeral Home in Sarasota, Fla.

LaROCHELLE David B. LaRochelle, age 41, of Columbus, died unexpectedly Monday, April 9, 2001 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was a Home Improvement Contractor. He was a graduate of Upper Arlington High School Class of '77 and Franklin University. He was an avid sports fan, golfer, and animal lover. He is survived by his wife, Kim; daughter, Dominique; step-daughters, Tiffany and Shannon Evans; parents, Thomas and Janet LaRochelle; brothers, Alan (Jackie) and Jon (Sherry) LaRochelle; niece, Beth LaRochelle; nephews, Sean, Cody, Jon, and Joshua LaRochelle; father and mother-in-law, Bob and Yvonne DeStefano; many relatives and friends. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2001 and Noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2001 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2001. PELTON Helen D. Pelton, age 82, a long-time resident of Clintonville, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at the Convalarium at Indian Run. Retired teacher from Columbus Public Schools and taught in the New Holland School System. Preceded in death by parents George and Edna Smith Dusler; sister Betty Winning and granddaughter Tamara Joan Pelton. Survived by husband of 61 years, John Z. Pelton; son, John D. SAILOR Virgil H. Sailor, age 69, passed away April 10, 2001 at home. Lifetime member of the Brothers Club and 4-S Club. Retired from Lattimer-Stevens and Stedman Floor Co. Survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Mary; devoted pet, Samantha; sisters, Mary and Alberta; sister-in-law, Jodi (Steve) Elgin of SC; special friends, Sue Lawson, Larry Grote, Bill Goodwin, Dick and Tom Stedman, Sue Robinson; and numerous other friends and neighbors. SHERMAN Erla J. Sherman, age 92, of Columbus, died Saturday, April 7, 2001 at Sunrise on the Scioto. She retired from State Auto Insurance Co., where she worked as a key punch operator. She was a founding member of East Columbus Church of Christ. She was active with the State Auto Retirees, and was an avid traveler and euchre player. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles, son Thomas J. Connell, sisters Helen Casto and Lillian (Francis) Caldwell, sister-in-law Jeannie Casto, brother-in-law Fred Stamm. She is survived by granddaughters, Deborah (Joseph) Streb and Sherry Baffert; daughter-in-law, Shirley S. Connell; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Stephanie and Sterling Streb, Taylor, Canyon, Forest and Savannah Baffert; sister, Doris Stamm; brothers, William (Lacy) and Robert Casto; many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2001 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Garden. SKINNER Jane M. Skinner, age 84, of Columbus, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001 in Bonita Springs, Fla. She was born in Athens, Ohio on May 14, 1916. Preceded in death by her son Kennard A. Skinner Jr. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Kennard A. Skinner Sr.; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Roger Rees of Columbus; daughter-in-law, Ina Skinner of Grove City; grandchildren, Kennard Skinner, Kathi (Joe) Kaising, Amanda Rees, Kendra Skinner; and great-grandson, Evan Kaising. A graveside service will be held for the family at Alton Township Cemetery, Alton, Oh. If they choose, friends may make memorial contribution to their favorite charity in Jane's memory.
