McADOO Lois Phillips McAdoo, of Upper Arlington, died April 12, 2001 at The Ohio State University Medical Center. Native of Missouri. Widow of W. Quinn McAdoo. Longtime member of Lane Avenue Baptist Church. Survived by her daughter, Lois Ann McAdoo; sister, Freda Folkerts; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Friends may call 2-4 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2001 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, where a funeral service will be held Monday, April 16, 2001. Dr. Wayne I. Nicholson officiating. Interment Union Cemetery.

McBRIDE, O.P. Sr. Catherine McBride (Sr. John Dominic), died suddenly on Tuesday, April 10, 2001 in Mohun Health Care Center. Sister was a native of Clydebank, Scotland and her parents William and Sarah McBride, were originally from Donegal, Ireland. Sister entered the Dominican Sisters novitiate from St. Vincent Ferrer parish in New York City in 1937 and pronounced her vows in 1939. Her long years of ministry include 6 years working for the Dominican Fathers at the Dominican House of Studies in River Forest, Ill. She also served at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Ct., Mary Immaculate School and St. Augustine Convent in Ossining, N.Y. and St. Mary's in Brooklyn, N.Y. When her health began to fail she returned to St. Mary of the Springs in 1988. Sister is survived by her devoted grandniece, Isobel Mrugala in Scotland; 5 grandnieces and grandnephews in the Doolan Family in Calif.; and many other relatives and friends both here and in Scotland. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 7 p.m. in the Motherhouse Chapel on Monday, April 16. The viewing will be from 2-4 p.m. on Monday. On Tuesday there will be a Mass in Mohun Chapel at 10 a.m. followed by the burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. McGARVEY Seth P. McGarvey, age 22, of Columbus, passed away Friday, April 13, 2001. Survived by mother, Debra Hepler, Columbus; father, Dan McGarvey, N.J.; brother, Shad McGarvey; sister, Shanna McGarvey; nephew, Joseph McGarvey, all of Columbus; grandparents, Richard and Gloria McGarvey, Baltimore; aunts, uncles, cousins and many good friends. PINKERMAN Morgan J. Pinkerman, 68, of Grove City, died Thursday April 12, 2001 in Mt. Carmel Medical Center. Member of Pleasantview Baptist Church and veteran of Korean War. Preceded in death by wife Stella (12/25/99) and parents Hillis and Elva Pinkerman and brother Charles Pinkerman. Survived by children, Morgan L. (Brenda) Pinkerman, Juliann (Michael) Stamper; step-children, Brenda (Leonard) Wagner, Carol Ann Robinson, Bethany (Gary) Vanderson; 7 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Geraldine DeWitt, Vera Small, Betty Lou Gates and Adele Ashley. QUEENSLAND Norwin C. Queensland, of Columbus, born August 12, 1931, died April 12, 2001. Preceded in death by wife Thelma Chamberlain-Queensland. Survived by dear friends, Cindy Siders and Lindy Egan. President and CEO of Metro-Trade Plate, Inc. Member of the Printing Industry of Central Ohio, Inc. Veteran of the U.S. Navy. Ohio State University Alumni with a degree in Engineering. A loyal and honest friend to those who were fortunate enough to know him. A quiet keeper of promises. ROSS Violet Marie Ross, age 83, of Obetz, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2001 at Mt. Carmel Hospital. Was a good and faithful servant of the Lord. Violet was a wonderful loving wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma. She lived for over 50 years in Obetz and attended the Bride of Christ Church of God in Groveport. Preceded in death by husband Hal, parents Chapman and Ellen (Ross) Adkins, sons Rev. David Sr. and Carl Ross, grandchildren Adam Delaney, Ellen and Billy Brumfield. Survived by children, Ellen (Kenneth) Hall of Grove City, Carol (Gail) Landefeld of Orient, Janet (Belve) Damron of Pickerington, Brenda Delaney, Rev. John (Gail) Ross, both of Groveport, Rosalie Cline, Donna (Brumfield) Ross, Rev. Ernest (Rachel) Ross and daughter-in-law, Linda (Ross) Ellis, all of Obetz; 26 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dr. Claude (Anne) Adkins, DMD, Dr. Charles Glen (DeDe) Adkins, MD; sister, Eileen (George) Asbury. SMYERS (NEFF) Dora Smyers (Neff), age 89, passed away Friday, April 13, 2001 at Columbus Community Hospital. Member of Lighthouse Ministries. Preceded in death by brother Carl Osborne. Survived by children, Betty Smith, Charles (Mary) Neff, Ruth (Dan) Roese, Sonja (Michael) Roese, Ralph (Leslie) Neff and Cathy Nunamaker; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Russell Osborne, Blanche Babcock, Marie (Leo) Jordan and William (Margaret) Osborne; numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. Preceded in death by mother Joan Blackwell Wagner and father Eugene Roosevelt Turner, Sr. Survived by his devoted and loving partner, Jamele Bailey; son, Eugene R. Turner, III; sisters and brothers, Roberta, Alice, Charles, Lydell, Gerald, Johnnie Blackwell, Michael, Sabrina, Doug, Earnest and Kathleen; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. VANCE Paul Wells Vance, age 84, of Columbus, died Friday, April 13, 2001 at his residence. Retired from The Ohio State University Hospital Accounting Department. Veteran WW II, U.S. Navy. He was a loving husband and father. Survived by wife of 57 years, Margaret; sons and daughters-in-law, Paul (Rene) Vance Jr., Houston, Tex. and Frank (Lorraine) Vance, Galena, Oh.; grandchildren, Zachary Vance, Derek Vance, Maria (Bert) Morrison, Jacob Vance, Maggie Vance and Gabriel Vance; great-grandchildren, Annie Morrison and Bert Morrison Jr.; brothers, Harvey Vance, Circleville, Oh. and Richard (June) Vance, Columbus. WADE Mary Elizabeth "Liddy" Wade, 78, of Goldsboro, N.C., formerly of the Glouster area, passed away April 11, 2001 in Kinston, N.C. She was born April 14, 1922, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Nellie Coy Morrison. She was the widow of Vernon J. "Spurt" Wade, who passed away in 1987. She is survived by 1 son, Ronnie (Kathy) Wade of Goldsboro, N.C.; 6 grandchildren, April (Paul) Marx of Beavercreek, Oh., Ronald (Dena) Wade of Greenville, S.C., Terry Wade of Phoenix, Ariz., Crystal Wade of Chicago, Ill., Mona (Howard) Smith of Goldsboro, N.C. and James Wade of Goldsboro, N.C.; 9 great-grandhcildren; 2 sisters, Pauline Oiler of Columbus and Til Sweeney of Glouster. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 1 brother Francis and 4 sisters, Dorothy, Marge, Irene and Evelyn. AMES Marvin L. Ames, age 79, died April 12, 2001 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Retired from the firm of Ames, Elzey, Thomas & Partners. Graduate of The Ohio State University, Class of 1951. WW II U.S. Air Force Veteran. Emeritus Member American Institute of Architects, AIA Ohio, BX of Central Ohio, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Masonic Lodge #30 and National Philatelic Association. Survived by wife, Mary J. Prince Ames; daughter, Susan (Christopher) Stenson; grandsons, Ryan (Angela) Stenson of Obetz and Grant Stenson of Heath; and great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Stenson. ARLINE Henry N. Arline, Friday, April 13, 2001. Born near Mesa, Ariz., the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas F. Arline. He served in the Army Air Forces during World War II and as a civilian cryptographic security specialist with the U.S. Occupation Forces in Japan after the war. He later worked as a newspaperman, serving in various editorial capacities on a number of papers, including the Phoenix (Arizona) Gazette, The Albuquerque (NM) Journal, The Lima ( Ohio) News, The Canton ( Ohio) Repository and The Columbus ( Ohio) Dispatch. In 1948 he married the late Anita R. Speakman. They had no children. Preceded in death by a brother and sister. Survived by a cousin, Juanita Webb of Florida. No service or calling hours. Cremation will be followed by inurnment in Green Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements by EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME.

BANKS Charles Jean Banks, age 97, departed this life on Monday April 10, 2001 at Grant Medical Center. Graduate of Worthington School System. Army Veteran. Resident of Powell, Oh. for the past 47 years. Retired employee of Riverside Methodist Hospital. Preceded in death by wife of 54 years Burnetta Banks, children Roberta and Fredrick Ayers, Lena May Harrington and grandson Ronald Bonner. Survived by grandson, Jazz Musician Gene Walker; great-granddaughters, Renna D. and Melody R. BEAL Alene M. Beal, age 75, of Groveport, Oh., died on Thursday, April 12, 2001 at Grant Medical Center. Retired as a homemaker, she served the war effort at the Curtis-Wright Aircraft Plant during WW II. Member of the Boiling Springs Baptist Church in N.C. Preceded in death by her husband Lester W. Beal in 1988, her parents Oscar and Dove Endicott Farley. Survived by her children, Bob and wife, Judy Beal, Betty Darnell and Connie and husband, Ervin Andy; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Agnes Farley; sisters and brothers-in-law, Patsy and Jim Messer, Judy and Jim Bartram; relatives and friends.
