Survived by mother, Debra Hepler, Columbus; father, Dan McGarvey, N.J.; brother, Shad McGarvey; sister, Shanna McGarvey; nephew, Joseph McGarvey, all of Columbus; grandparents, Richard and Gloria McGarvey, Baltimore; aunts, uncles, cousins and many good friends. Preceded in death by grandparents Emerson and Gladys Hoffhines and step-father Pat Hepler. Friends may visit 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 W. Waterloo St., Canal Winchester, where funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday. Pastor Thomas Hudson officiating. Interment Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Circleville.

QUEENSLAND Norwin C. Queensland, of Columbus, born August 12, 1931, died April 12, 2001. Preceded in death by wife Thelma Chamberlain-Queensland. Survived by dear friends, Cindy Siders and Lindy Egan. President and CEO of Metro-Trade Plate, Inc. Member of the Printing Industry of Central Ohio, Inc. Veteran of the U.S. Navy. Ohio State University Alumni with a degree in Engineering. A loyal and honest friend to those who were fortunate enough to know him. A quiet keeper of promises. Friends may call Tuesday April 17 from 11 a.m. until 12noon at which time a Memorial Service will be held at the MAEDER-QUINT-TIBERI FUNERAL HOME, 1068 S. High St., Columbus.

RAYMOND Helen B. Raymond, age 93, April 9, 2001 Doctor's Hospital North. Preceded in death by husband Gus Raymond. Survived by nephew, Dr. John W. Balk of Columbus. Helen was active in many civic organizations, the American Cancer Society, Women's League, and was a Benefactor for the Ohio School for the Deaf. Private services will be held in Port Charlotte, Fla. REEVES Mr. Adam J. Reeves passed over on April 13, 2001 peacefully in his home in Columbus, Ohio. Born the oldest child to Adam J. Reeves, Jr. and Susie Mae Bean Reeves on November 11, 1943. Adam was a veteran of the U.S. Army and an employee of Techneglas for nearly 23 years. Adam leaves behind his loving wife Maria; 8 children, Tammy (Charlie), Teresa (Julius), LaToyia (Keith), LaVance (Trina), Rachel (Jessie), David (Lori), Terry (Rodney) and Courtney; 11 brothers and sisters; 18 grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Service of memory Wednesday 11 a.m. chapel of DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. Long St. Mr. Reeves will lie in state Tuesday after 11 a.m. at the mortuary where the family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Interment Green Lawn Cemetery.

ROSS Violet Marie Ross, age 83, of Obetz, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2001 at Mt. Carmel Hospital. Was a good and faithful servant of the Lord. Violet was a wonderful loving wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma. She lived for over 50 years in Obetz and attended the Bride of Christ Church of God in Groveport. Preceded in death by husband Hal, parents Chapman and Ellen (Ross) Adkins, sons Rev. David Sr. and Carl Ross, grandchildren Adam Delaney, Ellen and Billy Brumfield. Survived by children, Ellen (Kenneth) Hall of Grove City, Carol (Gail) Landefeld of Orient, Janet (Belve) Damron of Pickerington, Brenda Delaney, Rev. John (Gail) Ross, both of Groveport, Rosalie Cline, Donna (Brumfield) Ross, Rev. Ernest (Rachel) Ross and daughter-in-law, Linda (Ross) Ellis, all of Obetz; 26 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dr. Claude (Anne) Adkins, DMD, Dr. Charles Glen (DeDe) Adkins, MD; sister, Eileen (George) Asbury. Visitation Saturday 6-8 p.m. and Sunday 3-5 p.m. at MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 2697 Columbus St., Grove City. Funeral Monday 2 p.m. at the Pentecostal Church of God, 1101 Obetz Rd. in Columbus. Rev. Mark Hatfield and Rev. Eugene Haney officiating. Interment Obetz Cemetery.

SHEPHERD Mary G. Shepherd, 89, of Columbus, passed away Friday, April 13, 2001 at Mt. Carmel Medical Center. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, Bert Shepherd; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours 6-8 p.m. Monday at the SCHOEDINGER NORRIS CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, where the funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2001 with Rev. James Stark officiating. Interment to follow at Pleasant Cemetery, Mt. Sterling.

SIMPSON Susan Amanda Whittam Simpson, age 44, died Friday, April 13, 2001. Survived by her husband, Charles J. Simpson; her mother, Helen Jane Whittam; brother, Thomas; sister, Lynda; mother-in-law, Vera E. Simpson; sisters-in-law, Mary Lee and Cindy; brothers-in-law, Don, Tom, Bob and Jim. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Doylestown, PA. SMITH Garnet Smith, age 90, former Gahanna resident, died Monday, April 9, 2001 at Courtyard Health Center in Davis, Calif. Graduate of the White Cross School of Nursing and The Ohio State University. Former member of Stonybrook United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by husband Dr. Kenneth Smith. Survived by daughter, Kaye E. (Roger) Moore of Pleasonton, Calif.; sons, William L. (Kathleen) Smith of Reynoldsburg and Jerry D. (Diane) Smith of Dixon, Calif.; 7 grandchldren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral service 1 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2001 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 East Johnstown Road, Gahanna, Ohio, where the family will receive friends from 12 noon Monday until service. SMYERS (NEFF) Dora Smyers (Neff), age 89, passed away Friday, April 13, 2001 at Columbus Community Hospital. Member of Lighthouse Ministries. Preceded in death by brother Carl Osborne. Survived by children, Betty Smith, Charles (Mary) Neff, Ruth (Dan) Roese, Sonja (Michael) Roese, Ralph (Leslie) Neff and Cathy Nunamaker; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Russell Osborne, Blanche Babcock, Marie (Leo) Jordan and William (Margaret) Osborne; numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. TAULBEE Charlene M. (Appel) Taulbee, age 58, of Marysville, died Friday, April 13, 2001 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She is survived by her husband, John C. Taulbee and children, John Taulbee, Jr., Joan Andrews, Jenny Kibbey and Jill Taulbee. Arrangements are pending with the UNDERWOOD FUNERAL HOME, Marysville.

THORNTON (WA8KSB) William S. Thornton, age 74, of Grove City, passed away Friday, April 13, 2001 at his residence. USMC veteran of WW II and retired from the Grove City Police Department with 23 years of service. He was also an avid amateur radio operator and a member of Masonic Lodge #689. Survived by his wife of 53 years, Avanell; his daughters, Debbie (John) Bateman of Baltimore, Oh. and Becky Williams of Middletown, Oh.; brother, Virgil Thornton of Dillon, S.C.; sister, Barbara Alfred; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. VANCE Paul Wells Vance, age 84, of Columbus, died Friday, April 13, 2001 at his residence. Retired from The Ohio State University Hospital Accounting Department. Veteran WW II, U.S. Navy. He was a loving husband and father. Survived by wife of 57 years, Margaret; sons and daughters-in-law, Paul (Rene) Vance Jr., Houston, Tex. and Frank (Lorraine) Vance, Galena, Oh.; grandchildren, Zachary Vance, Derek Vance, Maria (Bert) Morrison, Jacob Vance, Maggie Vance and Gabriel Vance; great-grandchildren, Annie Morrison and Bert Morrison Jr.; brothers, Harvey Vance, Circleville, Oh. and Richard (June) Vance, Columbus. A memorial prayer service will be held 7 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2001 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 9633 E. St. Rte. 37, Sunbury, Oh. Fr. James Walter presiding. VELLANI Bruno Vellani, age 89, of Grove City, died Friday, April 13, 2001 in Monterey Care Center. He served in the U. S. Navy in the South Pacific during WWII and after his discharge came to Grove City and operated a Shoe Repair Shop for 45 yrs until his retirement in 1990. He is survived by his wife, Lucille; brother, Albert (Mary) Vellani; sister, Emma Soiu; many nieces and nephews, and longtime friend, Skip Campbell. Friends may call Monday 7-9 p.m. at the SCHOEDINGER NORRIS CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, Grove City where the service will be Tuesday 1:30 p.m. Deacon John Vellani officiating. Internment Pleasant Cemetery Mt. Sterling.

VanARSDALE Marjorie VanArsdale died peacefully Friday morning, April 13, 2001. She followed her best friend and love, husband David Phillip, who passed away on March 19, 2001. She will be deeply missed by her loving family: daughter, Barbara Mormile-Shafer; son, Stephen (Barbara) VanArsdale; son, Edward Alan Cones (William Felinski); daughter, Phyllis VanArsdale (James Roof); grandson, Anthony David (Monika) Mormile, great grandson, Benjamin Lucas Mormile; step-granddaughters, Denise (Joseph) Roof Williams and their daughter Olivia, Heather (Mark) Roof Ramsey; special family friends, Gretchen Fishbach, Helen Chatham, Thom Coffman, Kathy Dixon, Linda Gilmore, Emma Louis, Angeline Mormile, Margaret Tabit, the Ziegler family, neighbors Rowena and Elmer, and especially, her favorite cat, Charley. ALBERT Oscar J. Albert, 94, of Pataskala, died Sunday, April 15, 2001 at Pataskala Oaks Care Center. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2001 at KAUBER-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 289 S. Main Street, Pataskala, with Rev. Tony Vohar officiating. Mr. Albert was born January 31, 1907 in Columbus, Oh. to the late Charles and Bertha Albert. He retired from Columbia Gas company, member of the US Army during WWII, and the American Legion #0490, Whitehall, Oh. Survived by a special friend Dorothy Miller of Pataskala. AMES Marvin L. Ames, age 79, died April 12, 2001 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Retired from the firm of Ames, Elzey, Thomas & Partners. Graduate of The Ohio State University, Class of 1951. WW II U.S. Air Force Veteran. Emeritus Member American Institute of Architects, AIA Ohio, BX of Central Ohio, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Masonic Lodge #30 and National Philatelic Association. Survived by wife, Mary J. Prince Ames; daughter, Susan (Christopher) Stenson; grandsons, Ryan (Angela) Stenson of Obetz and Grant Stenson of Heath; and great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Stenson.
