GREENE Mr. Joe L. Greene, Jr., born September 23, 1915 in Welch, W.Va., departed this life on April 14, 2001 at Grant Medical Center. Veteran of the U.S. Army and Air Force. Preceded in death by parents Joe L. and Sarah Greene Sr., wife Hazel E. Greene, daughter Isabella Lewis. Survived by daughters, Gaynell Greene, Alvernell Greene and Lillian (Dickie) Crawley, all of Columbus; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends. Service of memory Saturday 10 a.m., Chapel of DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. Long St. Mr. Greene will lie in state after 8 a.m. Saturday at the mortuary, where the family will receive friends 9 a.m. until time of service. Interment Franklin Hills Cemetery.

HOBBS Don L. Hobbs, 70, of Pataskala, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, April 18, 2001. Don was a Jersey Township Trustee for more than 23 years. Member of the Columbus Milk Haulers Association, Agrarian Farmers Club, Milkhauler and a farmer. Born November 25, 1930 in Columbus, Oh. Survived by his wife, Vera Hobbs of 51 years; daughters, Peggy Carrier of Pataskaka, Diana Clagg of Pataskala, Nancy (Mark) Smith of Johnstown and Cathy (Butch) Wedertz of Pataskala; son, Ron (Kim) Hobbs of Johnstown; 7 grandsons; 3 granddaughters; 1 great-granddaughter; brothers, Dick (Ruth) Hobbs of Pataskala and Dan (Linda) Hobbs of New Concord; sister-in-law, Mary Jean Hobbs of Pataskala; special aunt, Frances Hunter of Whisler, Oh.; lastly, special pet, Sandy. Preceded in death by his parents Clarence J. and Mona L. Hobbs, son Steven Hobbs, brother Calvin Hobbs and sister Shirley Hobbs. Friends may call at KAUBER MILLER FUNERAL HOME, Pataskala on Friday from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m., where funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2001 at 10 a.m. Interment Jersey Cemetery.

 Jones Doris Eva Fleming Jones, died April 18, 2001 in Springfield, Oh. She was born September 22, 1919, a daughter of William Fleming and Eva (Wood) Stinson Fleming. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Pauline Stinson McKitrick and Aura Stinson White and her brother William Stinson. Survivors include her husband, Paul D. Jones. Visitation will be April 20 from 5-7 p.m. in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME, Springfield, Oh., where a Memorial Service will be held April 21 at 2 p.m.

KUEHNER Lydia M. Kuehner, age 73, of Columbus, April 19, 2001 at home. Preceded in death by her sister and brother Frances Kusian and Gerrard Strackeljohn, parents Henry and Pauline Strackeljohn and father-in-law and mother-in-law Mildred and Raymond Kuehner. She is survived by devoted husband of 50 years, Raymond L. Kuehner; daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela A. and Bradley Hulls, Paula M. and John Sondej, all of Columbus; 5 grandchildren, Sarah and Andrea Hulls, Christine, Luke and John Paul Sondej. Lydia was born on a farm near Curtice, Oh. to her beloved parents. Gifted with a talent and love for music, she attended Capital University where she graduated in 1949 with a B.S. in education. Lydia was a life-long educator and mentor, teaching music in Berlin Heights, Geona, Pickaway County, Logan Elm and Groveport Madison schools. As a long-time member of Gates-Fourth United Methodist Church, she served as junior and senior choir director, church organist and dean of vacation bible school. Since retirement in 1990, Lydia worked for Life Care Alliance delivering Meals-on-Wheels. Lydia will be greatly missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched. Family will receive friends Sunday 12:30-3 and 6-8 p.m. at GRAUMLICH & SON FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High St. Memorial Service Monday 11 a.m. at Gates-Fourth UM Church, 1234 S. Fourth St. Rev. Ellen Phillips officiating. Inurnment at a later date at Green Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions in her memory to either Gates-Fourth UM Church, Life-Care Alliance or Hospice of Columbus.

LANG Ernest J. Lang, age 68, of Worthington, on Wednesday, April 18, 2001 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Survived by wife, Janice; sons, Ernest III of Chillicothe, Oh., Bruce (Linda) of Johannesburg, South Africa, Michael of Westerville and Mark of Charlotte, N.C.; daughters, Kimberly (Ray) Johnson-Jerome of Woodstock, Ga., Shelly (Kenny) Kreager of Mt. Sterling, Oh.; grandchildren, James Lang, Wade Johnson, Danielle, Lindsey and Kendra Kreager, Anna and Emma Lang; mother, Anna (Ignatz) Strobl of Cleveland; brother, Fred (Alicia) Lang of Richmond, Va.; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Lang was a retired Vice President from The Wasserstrom Co. and a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. A service to celebrate Mr. Lang's life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2001 at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St., (* mile South of I-270). LLOYD Joseph W. Lloyd, born February 28, 1918, died Monday, April 16, 2001 in Logan, Oh. Lt. USMC, Veteran WW II. Retired from Penn Salt Corp. in Wyandotte, Mich. Active member of Reynoldsburg VFW Post #9473. Survived by daughter, Loletta Sue (Art) Williams of Logan, Oh.; 4 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by wife of 20 years Rosalie. LYLE Newton G. Lyle, age 87, received by our heavenly father on Thursday, April 19, 2001. Preceded in death by wife Marie H. Lyle. Retired from Borden's after many years of service. Newtie will be missed and most remembered for his humor and being grandpa fix-it. METZ Everett A. Metz, age 92, of Westerville, Oh., April 18, 2001 at Kobacker House. Retired from Kauffman-Latimer Company after 38 years of service. Preceded in death by beloved wife of 60 years Nellie N. Metz and brother John D. Metz. Survived by loving daughters, Ruth (Larry) Gwin of Westerville and Mary Ann (Len) Calhoun of Mansfield; 6 grandchildren, Steven (Lisa) Gwin, Jennifer (Andrew) Lewis, Suzanne Gwin and fiance, Paul Schmidt, Scott (Garilyn) Calhoun, Jennifer Calhoun and Eric Calhoun; 4 great-grandchildren, Grant and Brandon Gwin, Connor Lewis and Madeline Calhoun. MICHEL Ruth (Dickendesher) Michel, age 96, passed away Wednesday morning, April 18, 2001 at the New Albany Care Center. Long time member of St. John Lutheran Evangelical Church. Preceded in death by husband George Michel; brothers Henry, Albert, and Fred Dickendesher; sisters Freda Walpole-Mohr and Lillian Metzger. MILLER Genevieve C. Miller, 95, of Upper Arlington, April 14, 2001 at Grant Hospital. Retired from Columbus Public Schools. Member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Phi Delta Gamma, American Association of University Women, Ohio State University Alumni Association, national, state, and local educational organizations. She was preceded in death by parents Leroy Stanley Miller and Bertha (Rosser) Miller; brothers Stanley, Leroy, Paul, and Eugene; sister Ruth (Miller) Winter. She is survived by house mate and friend, Mary Cummins; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Kathryn (Calvin) Daft of Baltimore, Oh.; nephews, Richard (Jeannine) Winter of Pickerington, Oh., Lynn (Linda) Daft of Annandale, Va., George (Pam) Daft of Baltimore, Oh., Robert (Helen) Miller of Washington D.C., Gerald Miller of Circleville, Oh., Dr. Stephen Miller of Birmingham, Mich., Daniel (Jennie) Miller of Lancaster, Oh., Michael (Sue) Miller, Parkridge, Ill.; nieces, Janet (Harry) Honan of Lady Lake, Fla., Judy (Tim) Hartshorn of Denver, Colo., Lisa (Steve) Thompson of Lancaster, Oh.; several great and great-great-nieces and nephews. NEWSOME Isaac Newsome Jr., went to be with the Lord on April 19, 2001. Retired as a Coal Miner. Veteran WW II, U.S. Navy. He is the son of the late John and Sadie Brewer Newsome of Naugatuck, W.Va. Also preceded in death by his loving step-mother Mary Ann Newsome and sister Mary Belle Davis. Survived by his wife, Ethel Kirk Newsome; sons, Johnny (Margie), Ples Eugene (Carol) and Thomas (Deborah); grandchildren, John, Scarlet, Jay, Jonathan, Lynn, Ples, Jennifer and Angela; great-grandchildren, Aurora and Isaac Newsome; special niece, Carolyn (Roy and daughter, LeAnn) Jenkins; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. This tiny someone touched our hearts and left our lives somehow changed forever...Joined in death by her beautiful twin sister McKenna Renee. Preceded in death by maternal grandmother Linda Sansbury. Survived by parents, Sean and Kelli Nowlin; maternal grandfather, Gary Sansbury; paternal grandmother, Judy (Virgil) Carter; paternal grandfather, Ron (Debbie) Nowlin; aunt, Kim (Steve) Moxley; uncles, Tim Sansbury, Kevin Nowlin; cousins, Brandon and Lindsi Moxley; extended family and special friends. PACKARD Alice Packard, age 88, of Columbus, died Saturday, April 14, 2001 at Columbus Rehabilitation Center. Preceded in death by husband Frank M. Packard, Jr. Survived by sister-in-law, Evelyn (Dave) Tucker of Gahanna; nephews, Jay and Linda Tucker, Tom and Janet Tucker of Centerburg. We wish to express our prayers and many thanks to case worker Cathy Downs and the other case worker who made Alice's last months very comfortable, and for her caring and concern and helping with everything.
