SMITH Edna Mae Smith, age 92, of Stygler Village, Gahanna died Saturday, April 21, 2001, at Broadview Health Center. Edna was born in Adams County, Ohio on September 24, 1908 to parents, Mason and Flora Augusta Bryan. She was a resident of Adams County for 80 years. She is preceded in death by husband Pierce Smith; a brother and a sister. Survived by Donna (Copher) and her husband Jim Harper; grandchildren, Rita Corbin, Gail Keaton and Bryan Harper; great grandchildren, Danielle (Ted) Klotz, Rachel Keaton, Jacob Harper, Justin Corbin, Joshua Harper, Ashlee Keaton and a great great grandchild expected; special friend and physician, Dr. Edna  Jones and all her friends, nurses and staff at Broadview Health Center and VistaCare. Family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. WALKER Joan L. (Jurgensmier) Walker, age 73, of Grove City, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2001 at Mt. Carmel Medical Center. Member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry (Bud) Walker; and two sisters Elta McClure and Kate Cruise. She is survived by her daughters, Cheri Arnold, Christy Walker, Jeanne (Greg) Zorich, and Miki (Scott) Hughes; grandchildren, Russ Arnold, Nicholas Zorich, Staci Zorich, Kaitlyn Hughes and Madison Hughes; brothers, Walt (Dottie) Hughes, Paul Jurgensmier, Robert Jurgensmier and Jim (Eunice) Jurgensmier; sister, Francis (Tom) Shafer; numerous nieces and nephews; beloved pets, Cain, Pokey, Boots, Smokey and Monty. YEOMAN Timothy Wayne Yeoman, age 32, of Dublin died Friday, April 20, 2001. Born October 28, 1968. Preceded in death by grandparents Irvin and Agnes Yeoman, D. Richard and Pauline Brown. ALLEN Charles E. "Chuck" Allen, 42, Centerburg, Sunday, April 22, 2001, OSU Medical Center. Born in Columbus on October 24, 1958 to Austin and Shirley (Robinson) Allen of Centerburg. Graduate Centerburg High School Class of 1977. Owned and operated Allen Brothers Painting and formerly operated the Mt. Vernon Dairy Queen, Allen's Pizza and A & B Pizza of Mt. Vernon. His family are members of Centerburg Church of Christ. He loved his family. Also survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Celia "CeAnn" Olmsted Allen; son, Austin C.; daughter, Aubre A.; sisters, Jeri (Donald) Hall, Johnstown, Shawna Young, Centerburg; mother-in-law, Roberta Olmsted, Mt. ARNOLD Mildred E. Cosgray Arnold, age 79, formerly of Lakeview, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2001 at the Whetstone Care Center in Columbus. She was the daughter of the late Eugene and Clara Schatz Cosgray, the fourth of 5 children. She was born August 16, 1921 in Union County, at the southeast corner of Mitchell-DeWitt Rd. and Hyland-Croy Rd., which, coincidently was the birthplace of her future mother-in-law Bertha DeWitt Arnold in 1899. She grew up on a farm in the Plain City area and graduated from the New California High School. Mildred was known for having a wonderful sense of humor, enjoyed cards, music, cooking good meals, sewing, her family and socializing with people. She was an avid sports fan, baseball being her favorite sport. She was co-captain of her high school girl's baseball team and being an OSU grandmother, followed the OSU baseball team since 1960. Being the wife of a WW II veteran, she was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Roundhead, near their Lakeview home and served several terms as the auxiliary president. She was a former store manager for the Hayes and Gray Shoe Store, Marysville, but spent most of her married life as a devoted wife and stay-at-home mother. She and her husband were active in the booster club and other activities as their children grew up and graduated from Marysville High School. She was married in 1941 to Marvin L. Arnold of Marysville and was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years in 1979. Her brothers, Curtis and Lloyd Cosgray also preceded her in death, as did her sisters Virginia Cosgray Anderson and Elsie Cosgray Bump and a grandson Dareck Gloeckner. Mildred is survived by her children, Avis (Robert) Arnold Gloeckner of Columbus, Lloyd (Yasuko) Arnold of Tokyo, Japan, Eddy (Ann) Arnold of Dayton and Hersha Arnold of Charleston, W.Va.; grandchildren, Ann Bailey of Toledo, Matthew Bailey of Marion, David (Anne) Gloeckner of Beaufort, N.C., Dianne, Douglas and Danielle Gloeckner, all of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Shaina Skeen, Lelia Davis; many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Mary Arnold and Dorothy Cosgray; brother-in-law, James L. Anderson. She will be greatly missed by her family and those whose lives she touched. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday 1-3 and 7-9 p.m. at the INGRAM FUNERAL HOME, 975 N. Maple St., Marysville, OH. 43040. Service will be held Friday 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Deitz officiating with burial following at the Forest Grove Cemetery in Plain City. BAKER Mildred T. Baker, age 71, of Westerville, Saturday, April 21, 2001 at home. Preceded in death by husband Roy A., brothers Walter Hollingshead, Verne Hollingshead and Norman Hollingshead and sister Anna Griffith. Survived by loving daughters, Diane (Paul) Suffoletto of Westerville and Christine (Asa) Monroe of Nelsonville, Oh.; grandchildren, Anissa, Kyle and Aaron Suffoletto, Asa, Tammy and Mindy Monroe; great-grandchildren, Andy, April, Brett, Rachel and Betty; sisters, Bonnie Toothman, Telitha Williams and Alice Salyer; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2001 at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 E. Schrock Rd., Westerville with visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service. BOWEN Mrs. Jean Bowen, age 70, of Keystone Heights, Fla., died Friday, April 20, 2001 at Shands at Jacksonville Hospital following a sudden illness. Born in Delaware, Oh. on August 8, 1930. She moved to Keystone Heights in 1985 from San Mateo, Calif. She was a member of the Fresh Start Fellowship Church. Homemaker. Member of the Keystone Woman's Club. Active in the Lake Area Ministries. Mrs. Bowen is survived by husband, David L. Bowen of Keystone Heights, Fla.; daughters, Deborah Orsillo of Tallahassee, Fla., Pamela Gavette of San Mateo, Calif. and Susan Gamez of Keystone Heights, Fla.; son, David F. Bowen of Miami, Fla.; sister, Luann Goslin of Grove City, Oh.; brothers, James McCord of Sunbury, Oh., Larry McCord of Buckeye Lake, Oh. and Mike McCord of Columbus, Oh.; 8 grandchildren. Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2001 at the DeWITT C.  Jones CHAPEL with Rev. C.W. Butler officiating. Interment at a later date. BUCKNER Everett E. Buckner, Jr., age 64, of Powell, died Sunday, April 22, 2001 at his residence. Born April 8, 1937 in Muskegon, Mich. Member of Jerome United Methodist Church. U.S. Marine Corp veteran during Vietnam. Instructor in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning for the Southeast Career Center, Columbus, Tolles Technical Center, Plain City and Columbus Public Schools for the past 30 years. Preceded in death by mother Frances F. (Erickson) Buckner, 1993 and sister Fannie Jean Buckner. Survived by son, Everett E. "Duke" (Christine) Buckner III of Galloway; grandson, Everett E. "DJ" Buckner IV; father, Everett E. CATHELL Larry L. Cathell, age 59, of Worthington, died Sunday, April 22, 2001 at Riverside Hospital. Retired in December of 1999 as Director of Human Resources for the Department of Education after 30 years service. 8 year Perry Township Trustee, Franklin County, active member of Worthington Christian Church, Board President of Christian Childrens Home of Ohio, Wooster, Oh., Past Master and Secretary of University Lodge #631 F&AM, Past Masters Unit of the Aladdin Shrine (Assistant Director and Vice President), Scottish Rite, Valley of Columbus, Horace W. Wright #226 R.A.M.; West Gate Council #129 R&SM; Mt. Vernon Commandery #1 K.T. Graduate of West Virginia University in 1964 and Keyser High School in 1959. Preceded in death by parents Arvil (Tom) Ross Cathell and Nell (Hovatter) Cathell, and sister Helen Cathell. COX David O. Cox, age 83, of Dunedin, Fla., died Wednesday April 18, 2001 at Mease Dunedin Hospital. He was born in Mobile, Ala. He worked for more than 40 years for Ross Laboratories (later purchased by Abbott Laboratories), where he served as President starting in April 1969. He retired in 1983 as Corporate Vice President of Abbott. As a community leader, he was a 21 year Trustee and Past President of Children's Hospital and Children's Hospital Research Foundation and Board Chairman of Columbus State College. He was active in civic programs in Columbus, including the Buckeye Boys Ranch, Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Columbus Metropolitan Career Center. Member of the board of the Central Ohio Red Cross Association, the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce, the United Way, and Rotary Clubs of Columbus and Dunedin. He was the first Chairman of the Board of Infant Formula Council and a Trustee of Mease Dunedin Hospital. He was a Past Commodore and Heber Award recipient of Buckeye Lake Yacht Club. He was an Army veteran of WW II, serving in anti-aircraft artillery with the rank of Major. Survivors include his wife, June Headlee; sister, Betsy Cox Upsher; 2 sons, David O. Jr., Madison, Oh. and Fredrick M., Buckeye Lake, Oh.; daughter, Carolyn Cox Batcheller, Cleveland Heights, Oh.; step-son, Marty Headlee, Westerville, Oh.; step-daughter, LaRae Anderson Peters, Clearwater, Fla.; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren.
