SNYDER William E. Snyder, Jr. was born December 18, 1936 to George E. Snyder and Madonia I. Snyder in Pittsburgh, Pa. He departed this life on Friday April 20, 2001 after a long fight with cancer. Billy, as he was affectionately called by his family, joined the United States Air Force in 1954, after graduating from Westinghouse High School in Pittsburgh, Pa. After a 21 year career in the field of Police and Security work in the military, he retired in 1975. Lifetime member of VFW Post 3764. After a short rest, he started a job with Dorcey International, 14 years later he retired. Bill leaves behind to cherish his memory, Carrie L. Snyder (wife); Madonia I. Snyder (mother); Joanne Jamison (sister); Robert D. Snyder (brother); William E. Snyder, Jr. (son); James W. Snyder (son); and a host of grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service Thursday 2 p.m., McNABB FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 818 E. Long St. Family will receive friends 1 p.m. until time of service. Rev. Thomas Spencer officiating.

STEPHENSON Evelyn B. Stephenson, 93, of Phoenix, Ariz., died on February 9, 2001. She was born on January 28, 1908 in W.Va. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and a former owner of Barnett Wigwam Restaurant in Canal Winchester. She is survived by her sons, Glen Baker of Phoenix, Ariz. and Robert Barnett of Las Cruces, N.M.; brother, Dale Chapman of Carroll, Oh.; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her first husband Carl Barnett, second husband Chester H. Stephenson and her son Larry Barnett. She was a 50 year plus member of David Evangelical Lutheran Church, 300 Groveport Rd. in Canal Winchester, Oh., where a memorial service will be held on April 28, 2001 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Betzer Cemetery, Carroll, Oh. at 2 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made to David Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.

TEAL Jill A. (Shaffer) Teal, 42, passed away April 23, 2001 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Jill attended Mogadore High School graduating in 1977 and attended Kent State University. She was employed with Transworld Entertainment/Camelot Music as a district manager for 24 years and was a member of Mogadore United Methodist Church. Funeral service Saturday 11 a.m. at HOPKINS LAWVER FUNERAL HOME, 34 S. Cleveland Ave., Mogadore, Oh. 44260 with Rev. Elizabeth Spiker officiating. Burial at Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jill's name to Mt. Carmel Foundation, Breast Oncology Program, St. Ann's Hospital, 793 W. VOYLES Marjorie C. Voyles, age 83, of Columbus, OH, passed away Monday, April 23, 2001 at her residence. She was a member of Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church, the Wednesday morning Bible Study class and Dorcas Circle. She was an LPN graduate from the Columbus School of Nursing. Marjorie was a product demonstrator for over 10 years and was known for her love of gardening and her beautiful flowers. She was preceded in death by her husband Louie D. Voyles in 1993. Survived by her daughter, Martha Littleton of Cape Canaveral, FL; grandchildren, Patricia Sorrells of Fairborn, OH, James Hinds, of New Carlisle, OH and Deborah  Jones of Fairborn, OH; sister, Dorothy C. McRee of Houston, TX; 7 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 26 at SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. WAYSON Rose (Gallagher) Wayson, age 93, of Grove City, passed away Monday, April 23, 2001 at Mt. Carmel Medical Center. Preceded in death by husband John, parents Owen and Mary-Jo Wherrity, brothers Frank and Mike Wherrity and sister Margaret Burn. Survived by son, Owen (Joy) Gallagher of Grove City; grandchildren, Michael (Nancy) Gallagher and Kathleen (Scott) Darvan, both of N.J., Kelly (Tim) McComb of N.C., Linda Fritz of Marysville; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Eugene Wherrity of Pa. ANDERSON Jane E. Anderson, age 74, of Dublin, formerly of Brilliant, Oh., Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at Doctors Hospital West. Born September 27, 1926 in Brilliant, Oh. Graduated from Brilliant High School and the Steubenville Business College. A member of the Dublin Community Church. Employed as an Accountant for the public library of Steubenville and  Jefferson County until her retirement in 1983. She is preceded in death by her parents Willard and Grace Carpenter. Survived by her husband of 46 years, Chester M. Anderson; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Thomas and Barbara Anderson of Dublin; was proud grandmother of Mollie and Ryan Anderson of Dublin; and is also survived by her sister, Mrs. Norbert (Lois) Drol of Longs, S.C. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday. Rev. Charles Kuck officiating. CLARK Margaret "Margie" Emma Clark, age 79, Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at Edgewood Manor Nursing Home, Westerville, Oh. Born May 17, 1921 in Nelsonville, Oh. to the late William and Mary Jacobs. Member of St.James the Less Catholic Church. Former resident of Claremont Retirement Center, where she was a member of the residence council. Preceded in death by husband Robert H. Clark, January 18, 1988. Loving mother of Robert D. (Linda) Clark, Sharon M. (Robert) Dotson and John T. (Linda) Clark; grandchildren, Keli Clark, Wendy (Scott) Richards, Kim (Kevin) Coots, Brandi (Jerome) Zingg, Lana (Jared) Beddoes, Thomas Clark and Kari Dotson; great-granddaughter, Hannah Zingg; sister, Gertie Mikula; brothers, Bill, Ronald, Bernard and John Jacobs; brothers-in-law, George (Evelyn) Clark, Rex (Clydeth) Clark; sister-in-law, Celia Jacobs. COOK Shane Justin Cook, 26, born June 13, 1974 in Columbus, Oh., died April 24, 2001 in Canal Winchester. Survived by loving daughter, Ashley Nicole Cook of Kingston; special friend, Brandi Minnear; parents, James and Patricia Cook, Canal Winchester; sisters, Robin of Upper Arlington and Jami of New Albany; maternal grandmother, Dora Blankenship of Ashville; paternal grandmother, Iva Ross of Lancaster; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. DAY Burns Edsel "Peanut" Day, 80, of Santa Monica, Calif., died Saturday, April 21, 2001. Born in Sunbury, Oh. on May 31, 1920 to the late Burnie and Hallie O. (Piper) Day. DENNIS Ned E. Dennis, 64, of Ashville, died April 22, 2001. Retired from Columbus Southern Electric/A.E.P. with 37 years of service. Member of Village United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by his parents Robert C. and Emma F. (Sark) Dennis, wife Carolyn (McVicker) Dennis and grandson Alex Fraser. Survived by loving son, John Krivicich; mother, Ordie Watson; father, Ronald Dutcher; sister, Kaylene (Michael) Clark; brothers, Robert of Phoenix, Ariz., Ronald (Tina) of Bamburg, S.C., Mark (Robin) Watson of Columbus; nieces, nephews and many friends. ELLIOTT Ethel (Cochran, Dowling) Elliott, 85, of Columbus, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2001 at her daughter's residence. She is survived by her husband, Howard Elliott; daughters, Shirley (Bill) Moore, Ruthanne Parker, Columbus; grandchildren, Janet (Jimmy) Baker, Jayne Oswalt, John (Joni) Parker; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Ray (Mary) Welch; niece, Jean Ramey; step-daughter, Mary Lou Bell; good friend, Savannah Hamilton. EPSTEIN Marcia Bloch Epstein, of Centerville, Mass., a leader in educational reform and administration, died April 24, 2001 in Hospice House of Barnstable after a brief illness. She was 66. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, she graduated from Cleveland Heights High School. She completed her undergraduate degree at Brandeis University in 1955 and her M.A. from the Western Reserve University in 1957. Dr. Epstein earned her Ph.D. in Educational Foundations and Curriculum from The Ohio State University in 1981. While attending The Ohio State University she also served as the first administrator of the School Study Council of Ohio. Dr. Epstein was an associate of Synergetic Development, Inc., an educational assessment consultancy firm where she worked with school systems throughout the United States in order to strengthen curriculum and maximize student performance through focusing on instruction and site-based reform. Dr. Epstein served as an assistant superintendent and a principal of controlled choice in Winston Salem, North Carolina where she was a pioneer in the field of alternative education and special needs student empowerment. While in Winston Salem, Dr. Epstein was a member of Leadership Winston Salem and the Triad Leadership Council. Dr. Epstein served on numerous community boards in Ohio, North Carolina, and Massachusetts. Most recently in Massachusetts she was a board member of the American Heart Association, The Affordable Housing Committee and the League of Women Voters, where she had recently been asked to serve as Vice President. In North Carolina she served on the board of directors of The Winston Salem Arts Council, Planned Parenthood and the United Way. Dr. Epstein was active in the Jewish community. She was a lifelong member of Haddasah, and served two terms as president of Temple Emanuel in Winston Salem. She was also active in Jewish education. She served as the secondary education coordinator for Tiffereth Israel Synagogue in Columbus, Ohio in the late 1960s, and as an Elementary grades supervisor for the Park Synagogue in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Epstein leaves her husband of 46 years, Jerry of Centerville; a son, Jonathon of Kent, Ohio; a daughter, Alisa Epstein-Morgan of New York; and four grandchildren, Helena and Jacob Epstein of Kent, and Sophie and Lillian Morgan of New York. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 26 at the Cape Cod Synagogue located at 145 Winter Street in Hyannis. The family suggests that contributions may be made to the Marcia Bloch Epstein Educational Fund at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts.
