LOGAN Brenda Kay Logan, another soldier called home on April 25, 2001. She was born April 30, 1954 to George and Maggie Logan in Gallipolis, Oh. She graduated from North Gallia High School and Columbus Paraprofessional Institute. Brenda was a member of Columbus Bible Way Church under the pastorate of Dr. William Talley. She worked for Nationwide Insurance Co. for 27 years until her health failed. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Joseph and Nathaniel Logan, sisters Betty Yarbrough and Georgia Combs. She leaves to cherish her memory sisters, Mary Collins, Jessie Mae Rosser, Laura Logan, Emma (George) Spotts; brothers, George Logan, Jr., John (Florence) Logan, Marion (Jewel) Logan, Wayne Logan, Scott (Cheryl) Logan, Otis (Margaret) Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service Friday 7 p.m., Columbus Bible Way Church, 2660 Rhoads Ave. Dr. William Talley officiating. Friends may call Friday after 12noon at the Chapel of DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. Long St. and after 5 p.m. at the church, where the family will receive friends 6 p.m. until time of service. Interment Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the American Cancer Society or Columbus Bibleway Church, 2660 Rhoads Ave.

MANDELL Jean Mandell, age 86, of Columbus. Preceded in death by husband Irving Mandell and sister Pearl Messer. Survived by daughter, Sandra Overstreet of Columbus; sons, Jeffrey (Mary) Mandell of Pickerington, Ira (Susan) Mandell of Cambridge, Ontario, Ernest (Cheryl) Mandell of Upper Arlington; brothers, Bernard (Sylvia) Morgan of Palm Springs, Calif.; brother-in-law, Ronald Messer of Baltimore, Md.; grandchildren, Ronald Overstreet, Stacey Fagan, Justin Mandell, Rachael Mandell, Ryan Mandell, Lauren Mandell and Paul Mandell; great-grandchildren, Ashley Fagan, Knox Overstreet, Jansan Overstreet and John Fagan. She was an antique dealer for over 30 years and everyone knew her as "Molly." She also volunteered for the American Cancer Society. Funeral services were held at THE EPSTEIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 3232 E. Main St. with Rabbi Harold Berman and Cantor Jack Chomsky officiating. Interment New Tifereth Israel Cemetery. Shiva will be held at the Ernest Mandell residence. Memorials preferred to The American Cancer Society or The Leukemia Society.

MERHAB Howard George Merhab, age 71, passed on April 24, 2001 at Friendship Village in Columbus, Oh. after a long illness. Born in Toledo, Oh. on November 26, 1929. He worked for the Coca-Cola Co. for 26 years in Toledo. Transferred to Columbus in 1973 and in 1979 moved to San Juan Capistrano, Calif., where he lived until 2000. He was a 1947 graduate of Ottawa Hills High School and a 1951 graduate of University of Toledo. Preceded in death by parents Michael and Frances Merhab, his twin brother Harold, his granddaughter Katie and his wife Patricia, whom he met in Dallas, Tex. while serving in the U.S. Army. Survived by his children, Sue (Mike) Shea of Defiance, Mark (Jocelyn) Merhab of Colbert, Wash., Sally (Steve) Biancone of Glenford, Oh. and Chris Merhab of Westerville, Oh.; grandchildren, Matthew and Andrew Shea, Patricia Merhab and Tyson Stedman; sister, Marjorie Patterson. His wonderful sense of humor and loving nature will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2001 at St. Clement Catholic Church, 3030 Tremainsville Rd., Toledo at 1 p.m. Graveside service to follow at Toledo Memorial Park. The family asks that memorial donations be made to the James Cancer Hospital and Research Institute, 300 W. 10th Ave., Suite B13-4-459, Columbus, Oh. 43210 in his memory.

McGRAW Esther G. McGraw, beloved wife, mom, and grandma, age 66, of Westerville, Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at St. Ann's Hospital. Preceded in death by parents John and Mabel Goodman, sisters Charlotte Lower, Nancy Snyder and Marlene Brown, brothers Howard, John and Arthur Goodman. Survived by husband, Ed.; daughters, Brenda (Fred) Evans, Linda Barber and Chris McGraw, all of Westerville; grandsons, Shawn (Kelly) Dobson, Jason Dobson, Adam McGraw, Tony Barber and Tyler Demeter; sisters, Lenora Meyers, Shirley Dyer, both of Gahanna, Bonnie Wildermuth of Westerville; brother, Robert Goodman of Westerville; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Friends may call at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville, Friday 6-9 p.m., where service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2001, Pastor Wayne Booth officiating. McQUEEN Mrs. Gloria Jean (Knecht) McQueen, age 47, of Plain City, Oh., passed away on April 20, 2001 at the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham, Ala. She was born in Elgin, Ill. And was a graduate of the Elgin Community College Nursing Program. She was a nurse for 25 years and had been a Cardiac Care Nurse for many years at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. She and her husband had recently moved to Cullman, Ala. She is survived by her husband, John, to whom she was married for 22 years; her parents, Robert M. and Bernice Knecht of Westerville; brother, Robert N. Knecht of Buena Park, Ca.; sisters, Marilyn Cantrell and Mary Hollobaugh of Columbus and Jennifer Schippa of San Diego, Ca.; several aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews and one great-nephew. Visitation and a memorial service will be held Saturday April 28, 2001 at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St. (* mile south of I 270). Friends may call beginning at 1 p.m. with a memorial service to be held at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Richard Hinkelman officiating. Memorial contributions in Jean's name may be made to the Coronary Care Unit at Riverside Methodist Hospital 3535 Olentangy River Rd., Columbus, Oh. 43214 or Creative Living, an assisted living apartment complex for the physically challenged individuals, located at 150 W. 10th Ave. Columbus, Oh. 43201.

NEAL Sterling Tony Neal, Jr., age 65, formerly of Flint, Mich., April 22, 2001 at OSU East Hospital. Past member of the Armed Services, Air Force and Air Force Reserve Branch. Retired employee of General Motors. Preceded in death by wife Mary Neal, son Tony, parents Sterling Tony Neal, Sr. and India Neal, brothers C.B. and Edward Neal and sisters Dorothy Neal and Margaret Howard. Survived by children, David, Michael, Carey, Lillian, Marion Neal, James Joseph and Tina (Anthony) Lee; grandchildren, Tony, Darrian, David Jr., Timika, Tawana, Adam, Tanesha, Deidre, Tasia, Carmon, Tevin, Tashawn, De-Leesa, Michael, Jr., Terrance, Kevin, Kendryck, Demarick, Phoetema, Kevin, Angelice, Ashley, James, Jr. and Shavonnah (Anthony) Bowling; great-grandchildren, Shaniyah and Shontiniya; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including special friend, Pamela Rose. PAISLEY Ralph Edward Paisley, age 73, Thursday, April 19, 2001 at Westminster Thurber. Member of Central Presbyterian Church, Courage Incorporated and National Association of Physically Handicapped. Preceded in death by parents Scott and Wilhelmina Paisley and brother Myron Paisley, cousin Janet Paisley Pheleger. Survived by second cousin, Jennifer Pheleger; aunt, Marjorie Maloney of Xenia, Oh. PICCIONE James R. Piccione, age 84, Tuesday, April 24, 2001, Doctors Hospital West. Retired from General Motors. Member of Auto Workers Union. Preceded in death by loving wife Rose Marie. Survived by sons, Joseph S. (Dianne), Columbus and James (Karen) Piccione, Inverness, Ill.; grandchildren, Denise (Harvey) Ford, Lisa (Taylor) Hoskins, Jeff (Kathy) Piccione, John (Jennifer) Piccione, Annie (Charles) Jones, Toni (Mike) Ambler, Vicki Piccione, Joseph (Lisa) Piccione and Juli (William) O'Brien; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Blanton of Alabama; brothers-in-law, Sam and Dominic Gerardi; many nieces and nephews. REED Iva B. Reed, 51, died unexpectedly April 19, 2001 at Doctors Hospital North. Loving wife, mother and grandmother. Survived by husband of 24 years, Donald; daughters, Kimberly Chilcote, Paulina Reed, Candius Reed and Shelley Reed; sons, Frederick, Thomas and Donald; 3 grandchildren; 1 brother; 3 sisters. The family will host a memorial service on Saturday, April 28 at 10 a.m. in the Xenos Christian Fellowship, 127 East 16th Ave. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to any family member. ROBERTS Mae O. Roberts, age 88, of New Albany, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at Mt. Carmel Hospital East. Member of Westerville Christian Church. Preceded in death by husband Lloyd Curtis Roberts, parents James and Alice Morefield, son-in-law Frank Zink. Survived by children, Janice (Jack) Chrysler, Curtis Lloyd Roberts, Mary Elizabeth Zink; grandchildren, Ryan Chrysler, Jeff and Michael Roberts, Gary Zink, Pam (James) Smith; great-grandchildren, Gary Zink, Jr., Christopher Zink, Leneah and Mackela Roberts, Justin Smith; brother, Charles Morefield of Blackwater, Va.; sisters, Doris Horton of Tex. and Ruby Burgin of Va.; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2001 at the Westerville Christian Church, 471 E. College Ave., Westerville, with Minister Greg Bondurant officiating. RUHLING Virginia Ellen Ruhling, age 83, Tuesday, St. Ann's Hospital. Born Virginia Ellen Kuenzli on November 20, 1917 in Upper Sandusky, Oh. She was a graduate of Capital University. Mrs. Ruhling taught music in the Bexley, Granville, and Gahanna City Schools. She also taught at the University School of The Ohio State University. She retired from Burke Sales. Mrs. Ruhling was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Eastern Star and Child Conservation League. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Robert L. Ruhling; her daughters, Marilyn Schuetz of Valparaiso, Ind., Marcia Ruhling of Athens, Oh. and Mary Gilbert of Cincinnati, Oh.; sons-in-law, Wayne Schuetz and Jay Gilbert. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Casey and Jeff Weitzel, Emily Schuetz, and Christopher Winner. Memorial service Friday, April 28, 2 p.m., Christ Lutheran Church, 2314 E. Main St., Bexley, where friends may call one hour prior to service. Pastor Tom Hudson and nephew, Pastor Timothy J. Kuenzli officiating. Interment will be at a later date. SATTERFIELD Robert "Bob" Easton Satterfield, Sr., a life long resident of Centerburg, Oh., born on March 8, 1934 and passed away on April 24, 2001. He retired from Rockwell International in March of 1990 after 38 years as a Lead Man and Supervisor. He was well known throughout the plant as "Red." Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Korean Conflict. He was a charter and life member of Amvets Post 59, currently a 2nd Vice Commander, former trustee; previous member of the American Legion Post 740, Whitehall V.F.W., F.O.E. and a volunteer for the Fire Department. Preceded in death by parents Elvin O. and Amelia (Crooks) Satterfield; 4 brothers Edgar, Dwight, Donald and Richard; 3 sisters Faye Shepard, Dorothy Torgeson and Bessie Satterfield. Survived by loving wife of 43 years, Thelma (Covrett); 4 loving children, Cheryl (Dan) Brenner of Centerburg, Joyce (Bill) Phillips of Sunbury, Robert, Jr. of Centerburg and Amy (Rob) Young of Dublin; Steve Albanese and John Daniels that were like sons; 5 devoted grandchildren, Linda and Crystal Phillips, Megan and Drew Brenner and Ryan Young; mother-in-law, Frances Covrett; also survived by 3 wonderful sisters, Eileen Pilkington of Marengo, Bettie (Charles)  Jackson of Centerburg and Marianne (Homer) Ball of Delaware; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. SCARBERRY James C. Scarberry, 85, formerly of Columbus, Oh., April 24, 2001 in Clearwater, Fla. Born in Ashland, Ky. Retired Bus Operator for 32 years with Columbus Transit Authority. Member First Christian Church of Clearwater, Fla. WW II Seabees, 1943-1946. Masonic Lodge #30, Columbus, Oh., 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, Tampa, Dunedin High Twelve. Survived by wife of 65 years, Myrtle of Clearwater, Fla.; daughters, Carol Cooper, Orlando, Fla. and Janet Stadler, Clearwater, Fla.; sister, Hester Goble, La Puente, Calif.; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren. SLAUGHTER Mrs. Dorothy Mae Slaughter, age 80, of San Antonio, Tex., passed April 22, 2001. A loving daughter, devoted mother and beloved grandmother. Dorothy is preceded in death by husband Byron Slaughter and daughter Zora Foster. Survived by daughter, Eria (Alfred) Greggs; brother, Vernon Williams; grandchildren, Leslie (Ernest) McDaniel, Lisa Greggs-Cornett, Rodney Greggs, Jr., Deborah Harris, Clarence (Sharon) Tanner, Dorothy Tanner, Regina Tanner, Reginald Tanner and Kenneth Tanner; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren. Service of Memory Friday 2 p.m., Chapel of DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. Long St. Rev. Weyman Dozier officiating. Mrs. Slaughter will lie in state at the mortuary Friday after 10 a.m., where the family will receive friends 1 p.m. until time of service. Dorothy will be laid to rest at Green Lawn Cemetery.
