SMITH Carolyn A. Smith, 73, of Columbus, passed away Friday, March 2, 2001 at her home. Retired from Field Publications. Survived by her husband of 50 years, James W. Smith; sons, Charles T. (Victoria L.), James J. and David A. (Shari L.) Smith; grandchildren, Brian M., Jennifer L. and Nathaniel C. The family will receive friends Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the COTNER FUNERAL HOME, 7369 E. Main St., Reynoldsburg, where the service will be Monday 10 a.m. Interment Glen Rest Memorial Estate, Reynoldsburg.

SMITH Fred Smith, age 88, died March 3, 2001 at Regency Manor. Surived by nieces, Jean Butterworth, Mida Dotson, Thelma Chifos; nephews, David Goble, all of Columbus and Benny Goble of Miss.; great-niece and nephew, Sue Espurvoa and Charles Butterworth. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Monday at COOK & SON-PALLAY FUNERAL HOME, 1631 Parsons Ave. where service will follow at 8 p.m. conducted by Pastor Larry Sparks of Williams Road Freewill Baptist Church. SMITH Lillie Mae McMickle Smith, age 75, departed this life on Wednesday, February 28, 2001 in Columbus, Ohio after a long illness. She was a homemaker and was of the Jehovah's Witness faith. Preceded in death by her husband Grover; brothers Noah, Ben, Roosevelt, Paul and James McMickle; three daughters, Brenda, Ora Mae, Baby Mae; son Luther H. "Luke" Smith. Survived by children, Darlene (Walter) Johnson, Barbara Ealy, Grover N. Smith, Jr., all of Denver, Co., Loretta Phillips of Columbus, Oh., Dorothy Swann of Akron, Oh., Barbara (Henry) Dotson of Switchback, W.Va., Vernon T. Smith of Baltimore, Md., and John McMickle of East Orange, NJ; nephew, James (Kora) McMickle of Pulaski, Va.; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral service Monday 1 p.m. MCNABB FUNERAL HOME, 818 E. Long St. Family will receive friends 12 p.m. noon until time of service. Brother Mark Rice officiating.

STUDEBAKER Jay H. Studebaker, 76, of New Carlisle, Ohio, died at 10:38 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2001 at Mercy Medical Center, Springfield, Ohio. He was born May 4, 1924 in Clark County, Ohio the son of Russell & Cyntha (Smith) Studebaker. He was a graduate of North Hampton High School in 1942, a member of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Board of 29 years, Clark County ASC Committee, a lifetime Deacon of Donnels Creek Church of the Brethren, a farmer for 56 years, and enjoyed collecting and restoring antique tractors. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Donna (Hockman) Studebaker; son, Kent (Susan) Studebaker of Marble Cliff, Ohio; daughter, Linda (Jeff) Hobby of New Carlisle; grandchildren, Aaron & Colin, J. & Lana Hobby, Meredith (Hobby) & Tim Grieser; great granddaughter, Abigail Grieser; three brothers, Laurel (Phyllis) Studebaker, Don (Marcella) Studebaker, Carroll (Rena) Studebaker; two sisters, Esther Snyder, Evelyn (William) Sayers; numerous nieces, nephews, grand and great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Dale; three sisters, Velma Kuehner, Naomi Noll and Wilma Kreps; infant brother Virgil. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2001 at the Donnels Creek church of the Brethren with Pastor Scott Cooper officiating. Burial in Myers Cemetery. SWENSON Robert A. "Bob" Swenson, age 82, of Westerville, died Friday, March 2, 2001 at The Village of Westerville. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Berenice Swenson; children, Penny (Edward) Broge of Mentor, Oh., Karen (Bob) Waldeck of Worthington and Paul Swenson of Westerville; grandchildren, Jason, Heather, Kristen and Jeffrey; and other relatives and friends. Bob was a member of All Saints Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6770 N. High St., Worthington, Oh., 43085, where a Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2001. Pastor Glenn M. Zorb officiating. Interment will follow the service at All Saints Columbarium. If they choose, friends may make memorial contributions to All Saints Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bob's memory. TARINI Toy (Phalura Pearl) Tarini, age 89, died Friday, March 2, 2001 in Grant Medical Center. She was was born April 10, 1911 in Greencamp, Ohio, and raised by her aunt and uncle, Mick and Pearl Ferrin. Toy married her first and only love, Mondo Tarini, who preceded her in death, as did her siblings Emma Sweatland, Justina Foulk, Alma Mildner and Fred Ferrin. Toy and Mondo raised their Family in the Tri-Village Area, operating a paving company and enjoying golf and wintering in Florida. She was also a member of Grace Brethren Church. Toy is survived by her daughters, Sandy DePaso and Mimi Tarini; son-in-law, John Streicher; grandchildren, Ric, Dave, Mike, Dan, Deb and Pam DePaso; Steve and Sarah Streicher; granddaughters-in-law, Debby and Laurie; sister-in-law, Julia Tarini; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral 12noon Tuesday at THE JOHN QUINT & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1177 W. Fifth Avenue, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial, St. Joseph Cemetery. TUCKER William L. Tucker, age 74, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2001 at O.S.U. East Hospital. Bill was retired from Cooper-Jarrett, Inc. He was a member of Teamsters Local #413 and former member of Southeast Conservation. Preceded in death by his parents Elza and Emma Tucker. Survived by wife, Alberta; children, William Jr. (Sandy) Tucker, Robert (Elizabeth) Tucker, Barbara Whitlatch and Patricia (Bill) Spink; 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Mae (Elias) Bailes. Family will receive friends 2-5 p.m. Sunday, March 4 at SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., where services will be on Monday at 11:30 a.m. Burial in Obetz Cemetery.

Survived by his father, Monroe White Sr.; sons, Brandy M. Bowers and DeVan S. White ; dear-loving friend, LaVetta; many other relatives and friends. Worked as Head of Construction Inspections for E. M. H. & T. Member of Jersey Baptist Church and Choir. Preceded in death by parents Glen and Elizabeth Bagley and brother Jack. Survived by wife of 27 years, Alacia Bagley; children, Brian (Terri) Bagley, Brandi (Chris) McAlister, Brent Bagley; grandchildren, Joel and Hannah. BAYER Theodore Earl "Teddy", age 9, born December 25, 1991, died Saturday, March 3, 2001 at Children's Hospital. Third grader at Dana Elementary. Beloved son of Robert E. Bayer, Jr. and Tamara D. BOYD Violet "Vi" Huber Boyd, age 81, of Circleville, formerly of 91 Maplewood Ave., Columbus, passed away March 3, 2001, at Pickaway Manor. Born July 27, 1929, in Russellton, Pa., the daughter of John and Sara Cooper. Graduate of Mifflin High School Class of 1937, member National Honor Society, retired medical secretary of Whitehall Medical Center, lifetime member Whitehall Post #8794 VFW, past president and past vice-president Moca Auxiliary #40, fund chairman Moca Auxiliary #40, member Whitehall Senior Citizens. Also known as the Bake Sale Lady. Survived by daughters, Linda (Gene) Godwin of Circleville, Luann (Vaughn) Smith of Palmetto, Fl.; son, Tom Huber of Pataskala; 10 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Judy Huber; brothers and sisters. BUCKINGHAM Eleanor Ida Buckingham, age 84, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2001. Preceded in death by husband Willard Buckingham, parents Delmer and Anna Locke, brothers Wilbur, Herman and Ted Locke, sisters Clara Wallace, Mary Lyons, Julia Powell and Jessie Landis. Survived by nieces and nephews, Norma Storer, Darleen McCarty, Mary Ellen (John) Evans, Wilbur Locke, Joseph (Jenny) Lyons and Teddy Locke; several great-nieces and nephews. CAPRETTA Celeste Capretta, November 16, 1912 - March 4, 2001. Celeste joins his wife of 56 years Thelma (O'Rourke); his mother and father Dominic and Laurette; sister Helen (Edward) Monette; sister-in-law Gerry Capretta; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law John (Helen) O'Rourke, Marie (Clifford) Bowser, Louis O'Rourke, Elizabeth O'Rourke, Rose (Thomas) Holt. He leaves his sons and daughters-in-law Donald and Marilyn and Daniel and Diane Capretta; brother Alphonse Carpretta; sister-in-law Ann O'Rourke; grandchildren Tony (Melanie), Annette, Diane (Donal) Mulligan, Jim (Claire), Karen, Danielle (Norman) Wegrzyn, Michael, Dominic and Darcie; 13 great-grandchildren. Celeste was a graduate of Holy Family High School. He retired after many years in the grocery business and later as an employee of the law firm Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease. He was a founding member of the K of C Council 2898, a fifty year member of St. Mary Magdalene Church and a past member of Seton Square choral group. CAREY Clarence W. Carey, age 80, of Gahanna went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 3, 2001 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. Retired from Columbus Motor Car Company. A WWII Army Veteran and a former member of V.F.W. in Gahanna and Hilliard. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters which were longtime Hilliard area residents. Survived by his sons, Bill, Ted and Dean and their families; and their mother, Della; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
