Kathleen W. Berg,79, of Norman, died Friday, January 3, 2003 in Norman, Oklahoma. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 at the Norman IOOF Cemetery in Norman, with Chaplain Tom Amos officiating. Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home.
Mrs. Berg was born on April 1, 1923 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Elmer and Estella (Ball) Williams. She married Eugene R. Berg on May 25, 1943.
Mrs. Berg was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on April 4, 1990; a brother, J. C. Williams and a sister Opal Gwen Middleton. She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Jean Berg and husband, Dean Ripley and one granddaughter, Sasha Marie Ripley of Norman, Oklahoma. a brother, Cecil Williams and wife, Barbara of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two sisters, Lois Sperry and husband, Howard of Lubbock, Texas and Alma Marshall and husband, L. K. of Healdton, Oklahoma.

Joan H. Blaylock
Joan H. Blaylock, 67, of Norman, Oklahoma, died Thursday, January 2, 2003 in Norman, Oklahoma. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 6, 2003 at Little Axe Baptist Church in Norman, Oklahoma with Reverend Sonny Stuart officiating. Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Blaylock was born May 21, 1935 in Harrison, Arkansas, to John and Louisa Collins Hoppis. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma and previously worked as a certified public accountant. She married Harry E. Blaylock on May 31, 1954 and moved to Norman, Oklahoma from Bentonville, Arkansas in 1954.
Mrs. Blaylock was preceded in death by her parents and son, Michael Blaylock in 1999, two sisters, Wanda Morrison and Lou Burton. Survivors include her son, David Blaylock of the home; two daughters, Janet Johnson and husband, John of Norman, OK; Donna Mason and husband, Dennis of Coer D’Alene, ID; three sisters, Rhoda Jones of Norman, OK; Portia Davis and husband, Rube of Yukon, OK; Florence Hoppis of Colorado Springs, Co; one brother, John Hoppis and wife, Roberta of Noble, OK; six grandchildren, Amber Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Brenna Mason, Brittani Mason, Brandi Mason, Stephanie Blaylock.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Norman Regional Hospital Foundation, P. O. Box 1665, Norman, Oklahoma 73070.
Flowers may be sent to the service at Little Axe Baptist Church but the family request flowers not be sent to the home.

Harvey S. Bohn
Harvey S. Bohn, 84, of Norman, Oklahoma died Saturday, January 10, 2003 in Norman. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 13, 2003 at the Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Norman, with Chaplin Harry Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Norman, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
Mr. Bohn was born April 15, 1918 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania to James W. and Anna Mazich Bohn. He was a World War II Veteran, serving with the 104th U. S. Naval Construction Battalion in the S. W. Pacific Islands. He was a civilian employee of Olmstead Air Force Base in Middletown, Pennsylvania until it closed in 1967 and he transferred to Tinker Air Force Base. Harvey retired in 1974 as Chief of Production Control Branch, Electronics and Armament Division after thirty three years of service. He was a Lutheran. He enjoyed woodworking, travel and his family.
Mr. Bohn was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Anna; daughters, Catherine Witten and husband, Ted of Norman, Oklahoma and Patricia Choate and husband, Rick of Mission, Texas; grandchildren, Anne Shaffer and husband, Jim, of Broken Arrow, Beth Witten of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Andy, Danny and Jennifer Choate of Mission, Texas and one great-grandson, Brandon Shaffer of Broken Arrow; sisters, Madaline Manfred, Sophia Shughart, Joyce Williams and husband, Lew, Joanne Kimmel and husband, Richard; brother-in-law, Paul Mazich and wife, Gloria; sister-in-law, Alice Mazich, all of Norman.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Norman or the American Diabetes Association.

Anna Y. Brooks
Anna Y. Brooks, 86, of Norman died Tuesday, January 7th, 2003 at Norman Regional Hospital. Visitation will be held at Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, on Thursday, January 9th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Services will be held on Monday, January 13th at Lafferty Funeral Home in West Union, Ohio with burial at Locust Grove Cemetery. Local arrangements are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
Mrs. Brooks was born November 11, 1916, in Seaman, Ohio, the daughter of William E. Rhoades and Inez (Milligan) Rhoades. She grew up in southern Ohio where she met her future husband, Vernon H. Brooks at a baseball game. They were married March 11th, 1942 in Paris, Kentucky. Following World War II, they moved to Dayton, Ohio where Vernon worked for the Frigidaire Corporation and she was a homemaker. They lived in Dayton and a suburb, Kettering, for some 40 years. In 1989, a few years after her husband's death, Anna moved to Norman to reside near her son.
Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Harold L. Rhoades. She is survived by her son, Robert L. Brooks, his wife Pamela, and three grandchildren, Erin, Colin, and Kelsie.

John L. Bumgarner
John L. Bumgarner, 80, of Norman, Oklahoma, died Monday, January 20, 2003 in Norman, Oklahoma. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church in Norman, Oklahoma with Reverend Cal Brannon officiating. Interment will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Norman, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma.
Mr. Bumgarner was born January 29, 1922 in Norman, Oklahoma, to John Lee and Leona Stogner Bumgarner. He grew up in Norman and graduated from Norman High School. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelors in History, later receiving a Masters in Education Administration also from the University of Oklahoma. Mr. Bumgarner married Sadie Margaret Covington on February 15, 1946. During World War II, he served with the United States Army Air Force. He started teaching at Pleasant Grove Schools near Seminole, Oklahoma for one year and returned to Norman. Mr. Bumgarner served for a number of years as principal at McKinley Elementary and was principal for twelve years at West Jr. High. He then returned to McKinley and served as principal until his retirement in May 1982. He was a charter member of the Norman Sooner Lions. He was also a member of the Oklahoma Education Association and the National Education Association. Mr. Bumgarner was a member of McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church in Norman, serving as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kindergarten at McFarlin. Mr. Bumgarner loved playing golf and was an avid O.U. fan.
Mr. Bumgarner was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Betty Lou Chase and Helen Kammerlocher. Survivors include his wife, Sadie of the home; two daughters, Mary June Joseph and husband, Joe of Satellite Beach, FL and Linda Lippe and husband, Dennis of Austin, TX; one sister, Mary Ann Jahnke and husband, H.R. of Henderson, Nevada; two brothers, Robert Bumgarner and wife, Sharon of Phoenix, AZ and Phillip Bumgarner and wife, Cathey of Bradenton, FL; and four grandsons, Joseph Joseph III, Aaron John Lippe, Tyler Joseph Lippe and Calvin James Lippe.
The family has designated the music program at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church, 419 S. University Blvd, Norman, Oklahoma 73069 as appropriate for expressions of sympathy.

James John Doherty
James John Doherty, 65, of Norman, Oklahoma, died Thursday, January 2, 2003 in Norman, Oklahoma. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, January 6, 2003 at Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, January 7, 2003 at St. Joseph Catholic Church Parish Center Chapel in Norman with Deacon Jeff Willard officiating. Graveside service will follow at 1:00 P.M. at the Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma with full military honors.
Pallbearers will be Ed Perry, Dennis McNally, Phil McNally, Glen Wanzer, Leon Crowley and Chris Doherty. Honorary Bearers will be the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma.
Mr. Doherty was born August 1, 1937, in Hermosa Beach, California, to Robert E. and Margaret McGlynn Doherty. Jim graduated from Junipero Serra High School in Gardena, California.
He received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Loyola University in Los Angeles, California. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving his country for twenty-one years.
Jim served one tour in Vietnam flying reconnaissance missions in the RF-4C.
Mr. Doherty was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert E. Doherty, Jr. Survivors include his wife, Patricia of the home; two sons, Brian of Norman, OK and Patrick of Houston, TX; and a sister, Michelle O’Brien and husband, Hugh, of Torrance, CA.

Darryl Wayne Elms
Darryl Wayne Elms, 42, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003 in Norman. Services will be held Monday, January 13 at 2 p.m. at Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman with the Rev. Cal Brannon officiating.
Burial will be at the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Norman. Havenbrook Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Mr. Elms was born Jan. 26, 1960, in Norman, to Don and Shirley (Moody) Elms. He was a lifelong Norman resident and attended Norman Public Schools. Mr. Elms was an auto mechanic by trade and worked for Brown's Garage for many years. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Mr. Elms was preceded in death by his father, Don Elms.
Mr. Elms is survived by his mother, Shirley Elms; brother, Terry Elms and his wife Donette of Norman; sisters, Tina Day and her husband Bruce of Nichols Hills, Autumn Brown and her husband Kendall of Edmond; maternal grandmother, Mae Paul of Purcell; four nieces, one nephew, and many other family members.
Bearers will be Larry Terry, Rick Logan, Russell Logan, Merrl Shingler, John Sager, and Les Sager.

Michael David Fitzgerald
Michael David Fitzgerald, 51, of Norman, died Saturday, January 4, 2002 in Norman, Oklahoma. Memorial Services will be held at 3:00p.m., Wednesday, January 8, 2003 at the Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Norman, with Mr. John Gifford officiating.
Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
Mr. Fitzgerald was born May 17, 1951 in Edmond, Oklahoma to Tom and Vella Mae Moore Fitzgerald. He grew up in Ardmore, Oklahoma where he was raised by his grandmother, the late, Minnie Dillard Franklin. He attended Ardmore Public Schools and also attended Murray State College in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. Afterward, he attended the University of Oklahoma in Norman, where he studied Special Education and received Summa Cum Laude and was a member of the Golden Key Honor Society. Michael married Carolyn Pruitt on March 27, 1970 in Gainsville, Texas. He moved to Norman form Ardmore in 1975. He played in the band “Xcentrix”, as lead guitarist, was a computer consultant and an oil and gas broker.
Mr. Fitzgerald was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Daniel Byrd Pruitt. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of the home; one son Michael Cord Fitzgerald and fiancee, Joanne Reed, of Norman, Oklahoma; one daughter, Carrie Mechelle Leonard and husband, Jason of Norman, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Corbin James Leonard and Colin Jake Leonard of Norman, Oklahoma and mother-in-law, Mary Pruitt of Ardmore, Oklahoma.

John Hankowsky
John Hankowsky, of Norman, Oklahoma, died Tuesday,
January 28, 2003 at Norman Regional Hospital. John is survived by
his wife, Ruth of the home; two daughters, Ellen Lack and husband,
Jim, and Jane Van Setten, all of Norman; three grandchildren, Denise
Dalmas of New Jersey, Kendall Lack of Portland, Oregon and John
Lack of Norman; and two great-grandchildren, Nathaniel and
Khristina Dalmas.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, January
30, 2003 at Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Norman with
Reverend Fred Schumacher of Messiah Lutheran Church of
Oklahoma City and Reverend David Wilson, Pastor, First American
United Methodist Church of Norman officiating. A private family
burial service will follow.

Jack Lee Leverich
Jack Lee Leverich, 78, of Norman, Oklahoma died
Thursday, January 9, 2003 in Norman. Graveside Services will
be held at 1100 a.m., Friday, January 11, 2003 at Resthaven
Memory Gardens in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, with Reverend
Bob Adams officiating. Services are under the direction of
Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
Mr. Leverich was born on April 16, 1924 in Oklahoma
City, Oklahoma to Oscar and Vinnie Leverich. He graduated
from Capital Hill High School and later graduated from Bethany
Nazarene College. He served in the Coast Guard and United
States Marine Corp. He worked at the V. A. Hospital for
seventeen years. He then served 23 years on the O. U.
Police Department. Jack was an avid boy scout leader. He
started the first troops for disabled and handicapped boys. He
earned the Silver Beaver award, which is the highest award in
scouting.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Joe
Leverich and one sister, Margie Morris. He is survived by his
wife, Ruby Josephine (Jo), of the home; two daughters, Virginia
Bounds and husband, Richard, of Guthrie and Jacquie
Jackson and husband, Tom, of Little Axe; six grandchildren
and fourteen great-grandchildren.
