Jerenne Putnam
Shawnee resident Jerenne Putnam, 82, died Saturday, Jan. 22, at a local nursing home.

She was born May 7, 1922, in Shawnee to Edgar Earl Betts and Stell (French) Betts. She graduated from Shawnee High School and Oklahoma Baptist University.

On Aug. 16, 1947, she married Jack W. Putnam.

She was a medical secretary at A.C.H. Hospital in Shawnee and later was the librarian at OBU.

She had been a member of the First Christian Church in Shawnee for more than 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Survivors include three children, Nancy Hunter and her husband, Johnny, of Shawnee, Allen Putnam of Tulsa, and Elizabeth Richart and her husband, Doug, of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Jessica Gripp and her husband, Tait; Zach Richart, Chad Richart; one great-grandson and many other relatives.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gaskill Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Milo L. Steffen II officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Jerry Wayne Freeman
Shawnee resident Jerry Wayne Freeman, 53, died Saturday, Jan. 22, in Oklahoma City.

Service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Walker Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery.

Flossie Gertrude Potter
Konawa resident Flossie Gertrude Potter, 92, died Friday, Jan. 21, at a Seminole nursing home.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Church of Christ in Konawa with Frank Brewer and Richard Winters officiating. Burial will be at Vamoosa Cemetery.

Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa is directing arrangements.

Byron Ray Watkins
Paden resident Byron Ray Watkins, 68, died Friday, Jan. 21, in Oklahoma City.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Prague Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Randell Miller officiating and the Rev. Tim Emmons assisting. Burial will follow in Paden Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.

Mary West
Lifelong Seminole resident Mary (Larney) West, 76, died Saturday, Jan. 22, at a nursing home in Seminole.

Wake services will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Swearingen Funeral Home and 7 p.m. Monday at Cedar Creek Church in Eufaula.

Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Creek Church with the Rev. Dorsie Nero and the Rev. Houston Tiger officiating. Burial will follow at the West Family Cemetery.

Melva Jean Davis
Longtime Konawa resident Melva Jean Davis, 73, died Friday, Jan. 21, in a Norman nursing home.

Service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, Konawa, with Tom Amos officiating. Burial will follow at Wolf Cemetery.

Russell Ray Wren
Shawnee resident Russell Ray Wren, 84, died Thursday, Jan. 20, in Oklahoma City.

He was born Sept. 21, 1920, in Shawnee to Bernice Vester Wren and Oney Irene (Proctor) Wren.

Wren was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in World War II. Later he worked as an aircraft mechanic at Tinker Air Force Base and was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Stigler.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jewel Irene Wren, his parents and one sister.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Ray A. and Verna Wren of Shawnee; three daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Keith Mabry of Shawnee, Rose and Oscar Brewer of Shawnee, Kathy and Greg Schneider of Manassas, Va.; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Resthaven Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John Basden officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Betty Cody Rains
Wanette resident Betty Cody Rains, 70, died Thursday, Jan. 20, in Wanette.

She was born Jan. 16, 1935, in Yale to Claude and Mildred Lorena (Link) Cody. She was reared in Yale and attended high school at Jennings and Quay. She attended Draughon's Business School in Tulsa.

She lived in Midwest City, Houston and Stillwater, and had resided in Wanette for the past 30 years. She was an independent accountant for more than 30 years.

A member of the First Baptist Church of Wanette, she served as a Sunday school teacher and was active in youth programs, volunteering at Falls Creek and hosting 5th Quarter parties.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and Clyde Travis of Tulsa, and "Dude" and Bill Walker of Yale; brother and sister-in-law, Claude and Barbara Cody of Tuttle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Baptist Children's Home.

Viewing will be at Cooper Chapel in Wanette from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Monday. The casket will not be opened following the service.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Wanette, with Larry Stevenson and Randy Golden officiating.

Burial will be at Wanette Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Ronald Gene Dudley
Arlington resident Ronald Gene Dudley, 60, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, in Prague.

He was born Aug. 23, 1944, in Bradley to Otis W. and Pauline Rachel (Painter) Dudley.

He retired from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.

Dudley was a member of the National Rifle Association and a supporter of the Arlington volunteer fire department and neighborhood.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his brothers, Billy M. Dudley of Paden and Don Dudley of Shawnee; sister, Mary Jo Lewis of Shawnee; and nieces, Donna Lyn Dudley of Oklahoma City and Stefani Lyn Dudley of Richard Hills, Texas.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with the Rev. Warren Danskin officiating.

Parks Brothers Funeral Service is directing arrangements.

Russell Ray Wren
Shawnee resident Russell Ray Wren, 84, died Thursday, Jan. 20, in Oklahoma City. Service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Resthaven Funeral Chapel.

Further information will be announched by Resthaven Funeral Home.

Marie Ellen Mohrbacher Thompson
Prague resident Marie Ellen Mohrbacher Thompson, 89, died Friday, Jan. 21.

She was born Jan. 16, 1916, to William J. and Ellen Whitmore Mohrbacher.

In 1932, she married Forrest Glenn Thompson. They were married for 53 years until his death in 1985.

Thompson was a lifelong resident of Prague. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Prague where she taught Sunday school for more than 30 years and served as church secretary for 17 years.

She was a member of the United Methodist Women. She also was a longtime member of the Federated Arts Club, serving as president and secretary/treasurer during her membership.

She served for several years as a volunteer in the Prague Historical Museum.

She was employed at the Prague Wholesale Company from 1959 until her retirement in 1988.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; mother, Ellen Mohrbacher; father, William J. Mohrbacher; a sister, Marguerite Elizabeth Tope; and a brother, Bud Mohrbacher.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Ann and Gus Hendrix of Ardmore; two granddaughters, Lisa Ann Fisher of the home and Linda Fisher Middleton and husband, Steve, of Edmond; two great-grandchildren; five nephews; four great-nephews; a sister-in-law, Opal Johnson of St. David, Ariz.; and many other relatives.

Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at United Methodist Church of Prague with Dr. Warren L. Danskin officiating, assisted by Sharon Capron. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Prague.

LeRoy Lancaster
Longtime Seminole resident LeRoy Lancaster, 66, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, in Midwest City.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Forest Weist officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.

Swearingen Funeral Home is directing arrangements.

Louis Ables
Seminole resident Louis Eugene Ables, 81, died Tuesday, Jan. 25.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City.
