Jerry W. Thompson
Wanette resident Jerry W. "J.W." Thompson, 70, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, in Oklahoma City at the age of 70.

Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Wanette High School gymnasium with the Rev. Jim Adams officiating.

Other information is pending and will be announced by Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Frank Edward Rhodd Jr.
Longtime Konawa area resident Frank Edward "F.E." Rhodd Jr., 41, died Monday, Jan. 24, in an Ada hospital.

Rosary will be recited 7 p.m. Thursday at Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home chapel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Matthew Brown, O.S.B., officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.

Margie Lou Elerick
Warner resident Margie Lou Elerick, 70, died Monday, Jan. 24, in a Muskogee hospital.

On Feb. 26, 1934, she was born in Byers to Louvard and Viola Mae (McCullar) Humphrey.

On Aug. 8, 1956, she married James Elerick.

She owned and operated a day care and retired in 1980.

Preceding her in death were her husband, James in 1990, four brothers and one sister, Richard, Dorsey, Charles, Carl and Grace Humphrey.

Survivors include one son and his wife, Kelly and Karen Elerick of Checotah; three grandsons, Kasey, Kameron and Kristopher Elerick, all of Checotah; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the Checotah Church of Christ with Everett Dunn officiating. Burial will follow in Warner Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Hampton Mortuary, Checotah.

Claude F. Hendon
Earlsboro resident Claude F. Hendon, 75, died Friday, Jan. 21, in Earlsboro.

He was born June 30, 1929, in Shawnee to Claude P. and Dana (Glass) Hendon.

He graduated from Shawnee High School. He also graduated with a bachelor's degree from UCLA and attended Oklahoma University Law School.

He was a real estate broker and a pawn shop owner.

He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous, where he had received his 26-year pin.

On June 3, 1950, he married Rita Jordan in Chandler. She preceded him in death Nov. 16, 2000.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Robert "Bob" Hendon.

Survivors include two sons and two daughters-in-law, Kent Hendon of Earlsboro, John and Suze Hendon of Oklahoma City and Carolyn Hendon of Lake Palestine, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, William "Bill" and Mary Ann Hendon of Akron, Ohio; granddaughter, April Meyers of Shawnee; companion, J.J. Durham; and numerous friends and family.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Glen Pence officiating.

Cooper Funeral Home is directing arrangements.

Wesley Meeks
Tecumseh resident Wesley Meeks, 69, died Sunday, Jan. 23, at his residence.

Wake service was held Tuesday at Benson Funeral Home of El Reno. Service will be 1 p.m. today at the chapel of Benson Funeral Home with the Rev. Rendon Falls officiating. Burial will follow in Concho under the direction of Benson Funeral Home.

Judith Bell
Shawnee resident Judith Bell, 60, died Saturday, Jan. 22, in Shawnee.

Viewing will be 10 a.m. until noon Thursday at Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Tecumseh Cemetery with Dwyane Dennis officiating.

Frances Marie Sargent
Seminole resident Frances Marie (Stephens) Sargent, 92, died Friday, Jan. 21, at a Seminole hospital.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cheyarah Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John Lively officiating. Burial will be at Little Cemetery.

Swearingen Funeral Home is directing arrangements.

Claude F. Hendon
Earlsboro resident Claude F. Hendon, 75, died Friday, Jan. 21, in Earlsboro.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Fairview Cemetery.

Other arrangements will be announced by Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Walter Isaac Walker
Longtime Konawa resident Walter Isaac "Ike" Walker, 59, died Sunday, Jan. 23, at his home.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Jim Reeves officiating. Burial will be at Konawa Cemetery.

Bertha Beck
Chandler resident Bertha (Bernadine Sidor) Beck, 85, died Saturday, Jan. 22, in Chandler.

She was born Nov. 23, 1919, in Cernova, Czechoslovakia (now Slovakia), to Michael and Irene (Janos) Sidor. She came to the United States at the age of 9, grew up in Michigan, became a citizen and graduated from business college. She served honorably in the Women's Army Corps during World War II, achieving the rank of master sergeant and serving at the Pentagon, Philippines and China.

Following military service, she lived in El Monte, Calif., and was secretary to the vice president of the trust department at Security Pacific Bank (later Bank of America) for 35 years.

She moved to Chandler in 1997.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Perry E. Jr. and Laura (Simon) Beck of Granite Bay, Calif.; two sisters, Margaret Stevens and Gertrude Borkowski, both of Sterling Heights, Mich.; grandchildren, Perry E. Beck III and Michelle Renet Beck of California; stepgrandchildren, Edward Still of Chandler and Vicki Prechtl of California; seven great-grandchildren, four nieces and many other relatives.

Prayer Vigil will be 7 p.m. today at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Chandler. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Jim Mickus officiating. Burial will be at the Catholic cemeteryin Chandler.

Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Chandler is directing arrangements.

Clayton Oden
Clayton "Clay" Oden, 38, died Sunday, Jan. 23, in Oklahoma City.

He was born June 26, 1966, in Oklahoma City to Jerry Oden and Loretta Barrett Oden. He was a member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation.

He graduated from Edmond Memorial High School and attended Oklahoma State University and the University of Central Oklahoma.

He married Angela Boren July 22, 1999, in Mustang and they own The Grand Boulevard Grill in Oklahoma City.

Survivors include his wife, Angie Oden; son, Cache Laren Oden; parents, Jerry Oden of Edmond, Loretta Oden of Tecumseh; brother, Craig Oden of Edmond; two sisters, Kelly Oden of Prescott, Ariz.; Candi Barrett of Dallas, Texas, and many other relatives and friends.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Smith & Kernke Chapel, 14624 N. May Avenue in Oklahoma City. Burial will follow in Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation is 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ola May Fitzwater
Longtime Seminole resident Ola May Fitzwater, 88, died Sunday, Jan. 23, in Seminole.

Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Little Cemetery.

Floyd Brook
Floyd Brook, 81, of Homeland, Calif., died Tuesday, Jan. 25, at his home.

Brook was born Dec. 21, 1923, in Okmulgee to Nova and Adie Cree (Fishero) Brook.

He worked as a national plant maintenance supervisor at Todd Corp., where he later retired.

On Dec. 18, 1959, he married Morene Bernhardt.

Brook served in the U.S. Navy as an aviation torpedo man until 1945.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Loyal Order of Moose, American Legion and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and acted as treasurer at the Winchester Valley Post No. 4379 in California until his death.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and four brothers.

Survivors include his son, Floyd Brook II of Homeland; one daughter, Sharon Lee Brook of California; one brother, Ross G. Brook of Clinton; five grandchildren, Timothy Shane Brook of St. Louis, Mo., Michael Cory Brook, Jett Lea Jade Sartain, both of Homeland, Buffy Brook Travers of Chino Hills, Calif., and Aaron Eastman of California; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Tecumseh Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker Funeral Service of Shawnee.
