L.D. Patterson
L.D. "Little Pat" Patterson, 80, of Shawnee died Friday at an Oklahoma City hospital.

He was born Jan. 31, 1923, in Allen to Mace and Julia May Patterson.

Patterson attended Cloud Chief Schools and was a self-employed farmer and rancher.

He married Sue Coots on Oct. 28, 1946, in Chandler.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dale Patterson; two brothers; and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Patterson of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Doyle and Terry Patterson of Hugo and Darrell and Dr. Judy Kosterman Patterson of Shawnee; sisters, Opal Bottoms of Gotebo and Lawatha Craft of Shawnee; brother, Lois Patterson of Seminole; six grandchildren, Misty Stevens, Destiny Pierce, Ace Patterson, Mace Patterson, Jeremiah Patterson and Julie Patterson; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Bethel Acres Assembly Church with the Rev. Lonnie Hurst officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Walker Funeral Services of Shawnee.

Verna J. Steciak
Harrah resident Verna J. (Baranski) Steciak, 75, died Monday, Jan. 24, in Harrah.

Rosary will be recited 9:40 a.m. today and the Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Teresa's Catholic Church with the Rev. Alan Loth officiating. Burial will follow at St. Teresa Catholic Cemetery in Harrah.

Smith-Parks Funeral Service is directing arrangements.

Bonnie D. White
Former Sparks resident Bonnie D. White, 81, of Las Vegas, Nev., died Sunday, Jan. 23, in Las Vegas.

She was born Oct. 14, 1923, in Sparks to Daniel Boone and Lena Ethel (Lightfoot) Cowan.

She graduated from Sparks High School.

She worked at Tinker Field Air Force Base during World War II.

On Jan. 10, 1942, she married Melton B. White in Oklahoma City.

She and her husband moved to Las Vegas, where they owned and operated a mobile home park.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sisters; and two brothers.

Survivors include one sister and brother-in-law, Jackie and Dennis Canant of Chandler; three nephews and spouses, Lewis and Mary White of Tahlequah, Gary and Randie Cowan of Olney, Ill., and Ronnie Blanchard of California; four nieces and spouses, Dixie and Charley Cognae of Ann Arbor, Mich., Shirley and Bob Conners of Sacramento, Calif., Ronnie and Gary Good of Oklahoma City and Patty Good of Phoenix, Ariz.; and other relatives and friends.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at White Dove Cemetery in Sparks with the Rev. Doyle Seeley, the Rev. Phil Freeman and the Rev. Kevin Martin officiating.

Parks Brothers Funeral Service is directing arrangements.

Jerry W. Thompson
Wanette resident Jerry W. "J.W." Thompson, 70, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, in Oklahoma City.

He was born Dec. 9, 1934, in Denver, Colo., to Wilson and Ola (Mankin) Thompson.

He graduated from Wanette High School. He received his bachelor of science in education from East Central College and a masters of education from The University of Oklahoma.

On April 16, 1960, he married Mae Howell in Dublin, Texas.

He was employed throughout Oklahoma and Espanola, N.M., as a coach and teacher. He also was a correctional teacher at James El Hamilton in Hodgen and Howard McLoud in Atoka. He retired from Wanette High School, where he was principal. He also farmed.

He was president of the Pottawatomie County Coaches Association and a member of the Oklahoma Teachers Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Mae Thompson of Wanette; two sons, Chris Thompson and his fiancée, Anna Boyd and Jerry "Bear" Thompson II and his wife, Sheila, all of Wanette; daughter, Leesa Thompson and her fiancé, Scott Garrod of Oklahoma City; 11 grandchildren, April, Kacee, Ashley, Austin, Brianna, Michael, J.T., Sara, Kyle, Kristen and Justice; three cousins; and many family and friends.

Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Wanette High School gymnasium with the Rev. Jim Adams officiating. Burial will be at the family acreage.

Cooper Funeral Home is directing arrangements.

Candi Nicole Wright
Newalla resident Candi Nicole Wright, 17, died Sunday, Jan. 23, in Newalla.

Service will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel in Harrah with Dr. Guy Ames officiating

Eula Ross
McLoud resident Eula Ross, 93, died Friday, Jan. 28, in McLoud.

Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of McLoud with the Rev. Larry Sparks officiating, assisted by the Rev. Ernest Graham. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery.

Walker Funeral Service is directing arrangements.

Dan Eugene Mayfield
Lifelong Paden resident Dan Eugene "Gene" Mayfield, 76, died Friday, Jan. 28, in Paden.

He was born Dec. 24, 1928, in Paden to Frank and Margaret Matilda (Maynard) Mayfield.

He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.

He retired from Tinker Air Force Base, where he was a sheet metal fabricator. He also was a school bus driver.

On May 1, 1954, he married Jessie Sue Smith in Okemah.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Fred and Harmon.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Mayfield of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Dan Eugene Mayfield Jr. and Sara of Paden, Dale Eugene Mayfield and Sheri Friend of Okemah; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Neil Prosser of Alabama; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray and Vernita Mayfield, Harvey and Dorothy Mayfield, and Vester and Opal Mayfield; sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice and G.W. Coward of Sallisaw, Dorothy and Paul Heard of Paden and Katie and Morris Brown of Paden; sisters-in-law, Hazel Mayfield and Thelma Mayfield; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Burnett Mission Church in Paden with the Rev. Paul Heard officiating. Burial will follow at Paden Cemetery.

Eula Ross
McLoud resident Eula Ross, 93, died Friday, Jan. 28, at the McLoud Nursing Home.

She was born March 1, 1911, in Scotland, Ark., to Henry and Mary Coleman and attended school in Arkansas.

She moved to the McLoud area with her parents in 1931 and to the city of McLoud in 1952.

She was a member of the McLoud Baptist Church and was active in the McLoud Senior Citizens.

On Feb. 8, 1934, she married George L. Ross. He preceded her in death July 26, 1988.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Georgia and Jim Hinshaw of Tucson, Ariz., two sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Barbara Ross of Harrah and Dane and Sheila Ross of McLoud, eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of McLoud with the Rev. Larry Sparks officiating and the Rev. Ernest Graham assisting. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery.

Charley R. Flannery
Seminole resident Charley R. Flannery, 86, died Friday, Jan. 28 at a McAlester nursing home.

Chapel service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole, with Darell Brown officiating. Burial will be at Little Cemetery.

Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole is directing arrangements.

Byrd Argie Guinn Jr.
Former Maud resident Byrd Argie Guinn Jr., 78, of Sherman, Texas, died Thursday in Denison, Texas.

Surviving relatives include a daughter and son-in-law, Gwen and Jerry Henderson of Denison, Texas; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bertie Smith of Poway, Calif., and Jean Martin of Sherman, Texas; a sister-in-law, LaVonia LaVelle of Sherman, Texas; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Graveside service with military honors will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cummings Cemetery in Maud with the Rev. John Kirk officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud.

Donnie Wayne Quinn
Longtime Sparks resident Donnie Wayne Quinn, 67, died Thursday in Oklahoma City.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Patsy Quinn of Sparks; three daughters, Rhonda Hill, Karen Slimp and Cindy Walker, all of Sparks; four brothers, Jimmy Quinn of Joplin, Mo., Joe Quinn of Muskogee, Ralph Quinn of Choctaw and Tommy Quinn of Coyle; four sisters, Velma GianFilippo of Prague, Betty Quinn Griffin of Oklahoma City, Marian Hiser of Sallisaw and Norma Warden of Newalla; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be 3 p.m. today at Forrest Cemetery in Chandler with the Rev. Mark Simons officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Chandler.
