Dennis F. Raines
Former Paden resident Dennis F. Raines, 50, of Mustang died Wednesday in Mustang.

He was born Aug. 12, 1952, in Oklahoma City to Linnis and Laura Carter Raines.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his mother, Laura, of Paden; sons and daughters-in-law, Darren and Rhonda Raines of Paden, Eric and Amanda Raines of Paden and James Raines of Savannah, Ga.; daughter, Kanita Raines of Savannah, Ga.; sister, Linda Kennedy of Newalla; brothers, James Raines of Paden and John Raines of Arkansas; grandchildren, Hunter Raines, Caselyn Raines, Denali Raines, Skyler Raines, Logan Raines, all of Paden, and many other relatives.

Services were Monday at the Paden Holiness Church.

Nettie M. Furgerson
Nettie M. Furgerson, 84, of Asher died Saturday at a Shawnee hospital.

Surviving relatives include a son, Hays Eugene Furgerson of Chandler; two daughters, Francis Beggs of Comanche, Texas, and Wanda Faught of Stockton, Calif.; two brothers, J.C. Matthews of Lake Elisnore, Calif., Elmer Matthews of Modesto, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Assembly of God Church in Asher with the Rev. Donna Morton officiating. Burial will be in Wanette Cemetery under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa.

Mrs. Cleo W. Hudson
Former Carney resident Mrs. Cleo W. Hudson, 88, died Monday in Oklahoma City.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Bill Hopson, Village; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Marilyn and Dave Hrader, Edmond, two great-grandchildren and many other relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Assembly of God Church in Carney. Burial will follow at the Carney Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Chandler.

Odie Cemuel Nowlin
Odie Cemuel Nowlin, 96, died Saturday.

Nowlin was born in Russellville, Ark., on Crow Mountain Sept. 5, 1905, to George and Eliza (Morphis) Nowlin.

He traveled from Arkansas to Oklahoma in a covered wagon when he was in his early 20s.

He lived in Holdenville, where he met and married his wife, Doris Telitha Bagwell on March 13, 1943.

They lived in Holdenville until 1949 when they moved to Shawnee where he was employed by Tinker Air Force Base as a civilian until his retirement in 1968. They retired in Holdenville until his wife died in 1992.

Nowlin then moved to the Golden Rule Retirement Home in Shawnee.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two brothers, Harvey and Jasper; and two sisters, Audry and Ilah.

Survivors include three children and spouses, Loran and Lori Nowlin of Shawnee, Linda Hanks of Sasakwa and George and Jane Nowlin of Yukon; two sisters, Decie Goodspeed and Ella Goodspeed, both of Wetumka; one brother, O.H. "Shorty" and Bonnie Nowlin of Holdenville; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Hudson-Phillips Chapel in Holdenville with the Rev. Meredith Robinson officiating.

Burial will follow at Holdenville Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville.

Virginia Opal Timmons
Virginia Opal Timmons, 82, of Plano, Texas, died Sunday.
Survivors include her sons, Stephen Timmons of Carrollton, Texas, and Paul Hopkins of Moore; daughter, Roena Hopper of Conroe, Texas; grandson, Jimmy Wayne Hopkins of Shawnee; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Dee Blackburn of Lancaster, Calif.; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Graveside services will be 1:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Directors.

Billy Wayne Ward
Billy Wayne Ward, 72, died Sunday in Oklahoma City.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Ward; three sons, Tony Ward, Daryll Ward and David Ward, all of Sparks; three daughters, Regina Johnson of Shawnee, Debbie Powers of Shawnee, and Lori Ward of Tulsa; one brother B.J. Ward of Ardmore; two sisters, Bessie Cartwright of Morton, Texas, and Jessie Norvell of Andrews, Texas; and other relatives and friends.

Services were held 1 p.m. Monday at the Sunnyside-Pickett Cemetery in Meeker with the Rev. Leon Williams officiating.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.

David Allen Wade
David Allen Wade of Oklahoma City died Monday. He was 43.
He was born Feb. 15, 1958, in Shawnee to Kenneth Dale and Eldena Gaye (Branson) Wade.

He was reared in Tecumseh and had lived in Oklahoma City for more than 20 years.

He attended South Rock Creek through the eighth grade and graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1976.

He worked as a cosmetologist.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Hadley and Jessie Branson and Ebert and Opal Wade.

Surviving are his parents, Kenneth and Eldena Wade, Shawnee; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Lynn and Susie Wade of Tecumseh and Dennis and Janice Wade of Shawnee; sister and brothers-in-law, Ladine and David Steward of Tecumseh; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Clint Dawkins of Sharon Baptist Church officiating.

Burial will follow in Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.

Cynthia Self
Cynthia Self, 90, of Shawnee died Tuesday in an Oklahoma City hospital.
She was born Jan. 21, 1912, in Meeker, the daughter of Silas and Dora (Honeycutt) Taylor.

She married Walter G. Self on July 13, 1937, in Chandler.

Self was a homemaker and a member of the Northeast Free Will Baptist Church. She moved to Shawnee in 1951, living in Lincoln and Pottawatomie counties all of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on June 10, 1986, and two brothers.

Survivors include a sister, Ethel Clinkenbeard of Meeker; a nephew, Jimmie Clinkenbeard of Meeker; a niece, Carlene Evans of Meeker; and a number of grandnieces and grand-nephews.

A graveside service will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at New Hope Cemetery, with the Rev. Michael McCauley officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Okiema Carl Presnell
Okiema Carl Presnell, 52, of Prague died Tuesday at a Prague care center.
Survivors include his wife, Mary (Jordan) Presnell; two sons, Robby Shane Presnell of Shawnee and V. Jordan Presnell of Prague; a stepson, Christopher Towler of Sparks; four brothers, Shenee J. Presnell of Old Towne, Maine, Grayson Eugene Presnell of Rogers, Ark., Joseph Lee Presnell of Mesquite, Texas, and Steven William Presnell of Prague; a sister, June Margaret Jordan of Oklahoma City; a granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Prague Cemetery with Bob Rogers officiating. The U.S. Navy will provide military honors. Arrangements are being handled by Parks Brothers Funeral Service.

Linda Kay Brown
Linda Kay Brown, 56, of Oklahoma City died Friday at her home.
Survivors include her mother, Rena Archer of Cromwell; her husband, Nelson Brown of Oklahoma City; four sons, James Leroy Brown of Indianapolis, Ind., Nelson Wayne Brown Jr. and David Ray Brown, both of Shawnee, and John J. Brown of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Peggy Coyle of Cromwell and Neva Weller of Newalla; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Stout Funeral Chapel in Wewoka with the Rev. Charles Jones officiating. Burial will be in Schoolton Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Stout Funeral Home.

Alonzo Hood
Shawnee resident Alonzo "Al" Hood, 64, died Wednesday in Shawnee.
He was born Nov. 21, 1937, in Brown to Emery Paul and Mamie Pearl (White) Hood.

He was reared west of Tecumseh and spent most of his life traveling.

He married his wife, Elouise, Oct. 23, 1983, in Little Axe. He served four years in the U.S. Navy and eight years in the U.S. Army.

He worked as a lather for various companies, retiring in October 2000. He was a member of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe.

Survivors include his wife, Elouise Hood, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Leah and Harry Cultee of Marysville, Wash.; grandson, Charles Jules "Mr. Lee" Cultee, also of Marysville; four stepsons, Victor, Carlos and Darrell Harjo, all of Shawnee, and Benny Harjo of Arlington, Texas; two stepdaughters, Sandra and Augustine Harjo, both of Arlington; three brothers, Albert Hood of Marysville, Gilbert Hood of Kansas and Edgar Foster Hood of Shawnee; two sisters, Dorothy Nemecek of Moore and Nova Dean Avery of Shiprock, N.M.; a cousin, Helen Gibson Ramirez of Shawnee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be 9 a.m. today at Absentee Shawnee Tribal Cemetery with Johnny Mann officiating. Services are being conducted by Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Tribal rites were held Thursday at the Little Axe Community Center.

David E. Hibler, Sr.
David E. Hibler Sr., 55, died Saturday in Oklahoma City.
Survivors include his mother, Reta Hibler of Granbury, Texas; a son, David E. Hibler Jr. and daughter, Kimberly Lynne Hibler, both of Shawnee; and several cousins.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Friday at the Alma City Cemetery in Alma, Ark. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Guardian North Funeral Home of Oklahoma City.

John Holik
Prague resident John Holik, 86, died Thursday at his home.
Survivors include a brother, Frank Holik, and sister, Mildred Pantlik, both of Meeker.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Service Chapel of Prague. Committal services will follow in the Czech National Cemetery in Prague with the Rev. Starland Davis officiating.
