Mary Jewell Harper
Mary Jewell (Jones) Harper, 93, died Sunday at a local nursing home.

She was born June 3, 1908, in Sasakwa.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Otis L. Harper.

Surviving are her brother, Bob Benefield and wife Joann of Ada; sister-in-law Dorothy (Jones) Rogers, Shawnee; nieces Jackie Clayton, McLoud, Judi Smith, McAlester, Janet Wilson, Wewoka, Linda Major and Carol Sparks, Bakersfield, Calif; nephews, Dale Jones of Sasakwa, Alan Jones, Edmond, Larry Jones, Nashville, Tenn., Bryan Benefield, Globe, Ariz., Stephen Benefield, Ada, Steward Benefield, Ada; great-niece Pamela (Clayton) Sites, McLoud; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held in Bakersfield, Calif. Viewing was Tuesday at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home in Oklahoma City.

Nancy Sue Bear
Nancy Sue Hulbutta Bear, 60, of Wewoka died Friday at a Tecumseh Care Center.

She is survived by a sister, Nelsie Yargee of Shawnee; four brothers, Ramsey Hulbutta and Paul Hulbutta, both of Wewoka, Ron Hulbutta of Seminole and Jimsey Hulbutta of Oklahoma City; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.

Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Eufaula Baptist Church with the Rev. Houston and the Rev. Malcolm Tiger officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home in Wewoka.

Bertie Ethel Sanford
Bertie Ethel Sanford, 80, of Seminole died Monday at a local hospital.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Barbara Cathey of Seminole; a daughter, Freda Proctor of Norman; a niece; a great-niece; a great-nephew; and two grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Hightower officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Ernie Washington
Ernie Washington, 87, of Oklahoma City died Saturday.

She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Nolen Brown officiating. Services are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.

John Wesley Lee
John Wesley Lee, 74, of Seminole died Saturday at a local nursing home.

He is survived by his wife, Helen of the home;, and a brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Lisa Lee of Tulsa.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Little Cemetery with the Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Linda Weigant Burnham
A memorial service will be held for Linda Weigant Burnham at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church.

She died May 11 in Bethlehem, Pa., at the age of 59. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Breast Cancer Foundation or American Diabetes Association.

Velma Prince
Velma Prince, 94, died Wednesday in a McLoud nursing home.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in McLoud under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Ray Shields
Lifelong McLoud resident, Ray Shields, 90, died Saturday at McLoud Nursing Center.

He was born April 21, 1913, in Stuart to Will Riley Shields and Pearl (Cannon) Shields. He graduated from Dale High School in 1932.

He married Dorothy Louise Roberts in 1940 in Shawnee. The couple owned and operated a dairy farm in the McLoud area and he also was employed by the state as a maintenance engineer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence and Elza Shields, and a sister, Jewel Stanford.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Shields of McLoud; sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Janice Shields of Harrah, Jack and Melinda Shields of Whitesboro, Texas, and Dennis Shields of Woodland Hills, Calif.; daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Leon Pickard of Harrah; DeeAnna and Gary Gray of Tecumseh; 16 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Bobo officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Neoma Kinkade Reynolds
Shawnee resident Neoma Kinkade Reynolds, 95, Shawnee, died Tuesday at Unity Health Center, North Campus.

She was born Aug. 9, 1907, in Seminole County, the daughter of A.J. "Jack" Kinkade and Leona Florence (Higdon) Kinkade.

She was a Shawnee resident for most of her life and was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Shawnee.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Theo Reynolds; daughter, Georgianna Casey; two sisters, Rosie Brakebill and Ellen Maloney; five brothers, Collie Kinkade, Amos Kinkade, Hollis Kinkade, Harvie Kinkade and Jimmie Kinkade; and two sons-in-law, David Nicely and Alvin Casey.

Survivors include two sons, Jack Reynolds of El Paso, Texas; and G. Paul Hefler and wife Jackie of Shawnee; two daughters, Katherine Nicely of Shawnee and Shirley Cole of Athens, Texas, and many other relatives.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Burris officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Helen Collene Pack
Helen Collene Pack, 73, Seminole, died Sunday at a local hospital.

Survivors include her children, Troy E. Pack Jr. and Sandra Wederski, both of Seminole; sister, Patricia Pack of Seminole; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 9 a.m. today at Temple of Praise Church with the Rev. Harold Turner officiating.

Burial will be at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

Jimmy Haskel Butler
Tecumseh resident Jimmy Haskel Butler, 84, died Monday.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Butler; a son, Gordon Butler of Norman; daughter, Karen Pringle and husband Mark of Tecumseh; three stepsons, Claude Kendrik of Midwest City, Paul and wife Sherry Kendrik of Skiatook and Danny Kendrik of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Alfred Butler and wife Jo of Ardmore, and Walter Butler of Walters; half-brothers, Gary Butler and Lonnie Butler; sister-in-law, Mary Butler of Lawton; brother-in-law, Lawrence Jobe of Del City; three grandchildren and other relatives.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ in Ringling. Burial will follow at Ringling Memorial Cemetery under the direction of John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel.

Orvel Shields
Lifelong McLoud resident, Orvel "Ray" Shields, 90, died Saturday at a McLoud nursing center.

Jesse William Smith
Jesse William Smith, 84, of Stuart died Sunday at a McAlester hospital.

He is survived by four sons, Glenn Dale Stewart of Gerty, Robert C. Stewart of Stuart, Gary Ray Smith of Holdenville and Ricky Dean Smith of Stuart; a daughter, Sandra Jean Bull of Stuart; a brother, Cotton Smith of Caney, Okla.; two sisters, Lenora McBride of Caney, and George Ann Stanley of Tulsa; 18 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Freewill Baptist Church, Non, Okla., with the Rev. Bob Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Non Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville.

Nadine Burns
Tecumseh resident Nadine Burns, 82, died Thursday in Tecumseh.

She was born May 26, 1921, in Stuart to Rufus Mae and Fannie Mae (Jones) Cooper.

She married C.B. Burns in McAlester, June 1, 1937. He preceded her in death Feb. 5, 1982.

Burns had lived in Tecumseh since 1972 and worked as a cook for Tecumseh Public Schools for eight years.

She was a homemaker.

Burns was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers, two daughters, Evelyn Stafford and Carol Priddy; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Richard Huelster of Guthrie and Sue and Phil Stafford of Tecumseh; three sons and daughters-in-law, Howard "Sandy" and Kelly Burns of Paris, Tenn., Otis and Pat Burns of Bear Creek, N.C., and Cecil "Pete" and Retha Burns of Paris, Tenn.; 22 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John Mixon officiating. Burial will follow at Pryor Cemetery of Stuart at 1 p.m. Cooper Funeral Home is in charge of services.
