Jane Edwards
Shawnee resident Jane Edwards, 87, died Saturday, Aug. 20, at a local hospital.
She was born Dec. 13, 1917, in Shawnee to Dr. Roy and Emma Campbell Edwards.
She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1936 and attended Oklahoma Baptist University for two years. She graduated from Oklahoma A&M in 1940 in English and Journalism. She received a Teachers Certificate from A&M in 1941. Mrs. Edwards taught one year at Harjo High School and three years at Vamoosa High School from 1944 to 1946. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Hope/Loving Circle, United Methodist Women, Triple C Sunday School Class, a Sunday School Superintendent for 14 years and Evangelism Committee for 20 years and a member of the Retired Teachers Association. She worked as a dental assistant and secretary. She wrote an article to Glamour Magazine in 1947, titled "Why I would like a makeover for my apartment". She was one of two winners. She lived at home with her little dog "Harry".
Survivors include a cousin, Margureite Johnson of Bartlesville.
Service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Burress officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Home.
Viola Bernice Taylor
Viola Bernice Taylor, 86, of Seminole died Aug. 21 at Geargia Manor Nursing Home in Amarillo, Texas.
Service will be 10:30 a.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Arrangments are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Jerry Hill Perkins
Jerry Hill Perkins, 74, of DesPlaines Ill., died Sunday,Aug. 21 in DesPlaines.
Service will be 12 p.m. Saturday at Oehler Funeral Home in DesPlaines.
Arrangements are under the direction of Oehler Funeral Home in DesPlaines.
Agnes Starkey
McLoud resident Agnes "Granny" Starkey, 88, died Saturday, Sept. 3, at a Midwest City hospital.
She was born Feb. 12, 1917, in Stuart. She attended Gerty School and was active in the First Baptist Church of McLoud and was head of child care for 27 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E.L. Starkey; a son, Bobby Starkey; two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by five children, Betty and Ray Hawthorne of McLoud, Dee and Reta Starkey of Oaks, Okla., Richard and Sonja Starkey of McLoud, Carol Starkey Nichols of Shawnee, and Donna and Jerry Sudduth of McLoud; 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; as well as a number of nieces and nephews, a church family and many friends.
Service will be 1 p.m. today at First Baptist Church McLoud. Burial will be 3:30 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka.
Arrangements are under the direction of Walker Funeral Service, Shawnee.

Bethel Acres resident Richard E Holland, 73, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, in Bethel Acres.
Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Tecumseh.

Seminole resident Marc Anthony Williams, 34, died Saturday, Sept. 3, at the Holdenville Hospital.
Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Bobby Curry officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Seminole, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Gladys Marie Underwood
Longtime Prague resident Gladys Marie Underwood, 92, died Monday, Sept. 5, in Prague.
Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Prague United Methodist Church with Dr. Warren Danskin officiating. Burial will follow at the Prague Cemetery.
Arrangments will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.

Harrah resident Janas Ann Kirby died Tuesday, Aug. 30, in Harrah at the age of 65.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Chandler with Chaplin Larry Mitchell officiating.

John Earl Jackson, 84, of Bearden died Monday,Aug. 22, in Okemah.
Service will be 2 p.m Thursday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah with Preacher Richard Winters officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.

Margaret Freeman
Margaret Freeman, 89, of Chandler died Monday,Aug. 22, in Oklahoma City.
Service will be 10 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Chandler with the Rev. Sungsu Hwang officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler.

Billy Wayne Boatman
Shawnee resident Billy Wayne Boatman, 58, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, at a McLoud nursing home.
Service will be 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel of Walker Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Walker Funeral Service will announce further arrangements.
Jewell Belle Schima
Shawnee resident Jewell Belle Schima, 96, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, in Shawnee.
She was born Oct. 13, 1908, in Prague to Hubert Leroy and Myrtle Mary (Duggan) Smith.
She was a retired retail clerk.
On Oct. 31, 1927, she married Carl Schima in Okemah. He preceded her in death Feb. 23, 1990.
She also was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Lawanda Payne of Shawnee; brother and sister-in-law, Cecil and Velma Smith of Ardmore; grandson and his wife, Rodney and Linda Hill of Lahina, Hawaii; and one great-granddaughter.
Memorials may be made to Unity North Medical Center in Shawnee.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Prague Cemetery with the Rev. Sam Hendry officiating.

Anna L. Karr
Tecumseh resident Anna L. Karr, 80, died Monday, Jan. 17, in Shawnee.
She was born Jan. 2, 1925, in Norman, to Fred and Lucy (Fink) Grill.
She lived in Norman for 16 years. She and her husband moved to a farm near Pink, where they farmed. She had lived in Tecumseh since 1964.
She was a farmer and a homemaker.
She married Ed Dave Brendle in 1940. In 1968, she married Lawrence W. Karr.
She was preceded in death by her son, Eddie Brendle.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Allouise (Brendle) and Guy Hurst Sr. of Tecumseh; one son and two daughters-in-law, Ernest Dave and Jackie Brendle of Norman and Virginia Brendle of Shawnee; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous friends and family.
Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery.

Tyler DeWayne Smith
Shawnee resident Tyler DeWayne Smith, 18, departed this life on Monday, Sept. 5, in Oklahoma City
He was born on April 19, 1987, in Shawnee to Jerry DeWayne and Jeanette Lynn (Powell) Smith.
Tyler lived most of his life in Prague. He graduated with the Prague High School class of 2005 where he was very active in agriculture and played basketball. His achievements in FFA included Officer Team for 4 years, showed cattle numerous times, National Bronze Star for Agri-Science, State Farm degree, DeKalp Award his senior year, livestock judging team at Murray State College, and a full scholarship to Murray State. Tyler was a member of the First Baptist Church in Prague.
Survivors include his parents, Jerry and Jeanette Smith of Prague; sister, Kristen Smith of the home; grandparents, Ron and Karen Smith of Tecumseh and Tom and Willa Powell of Shawnee; great-grandparents, Reba Childers of Bethel and Allin Fallin of Bethel.
Service is pending under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.

Macomb resident Guy D. Siler, 75, died Sunday Sept. 4, in Shawnee.
Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8 at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Anna Jantz officiating. Burial will follow at Praire View Cemetery.
