George Dutch Hicks
Dewar resident George Dutch Hicks died Saturday, Sept. 3, at the age of 80.

A wake service will be held 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday at the Dewar First Baptist Church.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Dewar First Baptist Church with the Rev. Willis Knight and the Rev. Bridge Chuckluck officiating. Burial will follow at New Sonora Cemetery, southeast of Henryetta, under the direction of Shurden Funeral Home of Henryetta.

Harry Richard Sr.
Shawnee resident Harry Richard Sr., 79, died Monday, Sept. 5, at his home.

He was born Oct. 2, 1925, in Oil City, Pa., to Adam John Richard and Ada Bell (Allshouse) Richard.

He graduated Oil City High School in Pennsylvania and served in the U.S Navy for 25 years, retiring as a naval officer. He was a World War II veteran serving in the Pacific Theater of Operation and Korea. Harry also worked for General Dynamics in Ft. Worth and also C.R Anthony.

He married Helen Maxey, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 28, 1982 he married Tokee Lacey in Shawnee.

He was a member of Northridge Church of Christ and a 32nd degree Mason at Shawnee Composit Lodge # 107.

Survivors include; his wife Tokee of the home; son and daughter-in-law Harry Richard Jr. and Roberta Richard of Edna, Texas; step-children Mike and Carolyn Lacey of Muskogee, Sharon Lacey of Tecumseh, Linda Lacey of Shawnee and Michael and Jan Tupps of Tulsa; grandchildren Chris and Jenny Richard and Buddy Winterowd; step-grandchildren Frankie Fitch, Donna Johnson, Laurel and Sean McCullar, Chris and Gina Ross, Jonathan Ross, Ryan Tupps, Jennifer Anderson; great-grandchildren, Skye, Adam and Chloe Richard, Jake, Will and Same McCullar, Gage Ross, Ricky and Rusty Johnson, Michael Tillman, Angela Lowe and Micki Matthews.

Service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Northridge Church of Christ with Cliff Craig officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Chris Richard, Chris Ross, Sean McCullar, Ryan Tupps, Michael Tupps and Mike Lacey. Honorary pallbearers are Skye, Adam, and Chloe Richard, Gage Ross, Ricky and Rusty Johnson, Michael Tillman, Robbie and Kendra Fitch, Jake, Will and Sam McCullar, Micki Matthews and Anglea Lowe.

Memorials may be made to Bible for Christ at Northridge Church of Christ.

Arrangements under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

A.T. Sales
A.T. Sales, 75, of Tecumseh died Aug. 30 in Tecumseh.

Service is 10 am Friday at Cooper Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at the Wanette Cemetery with Pastor Mark Guinn officiating.

Arrangments are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Teddy Lewis Maxfield
Oklahoma City resident Teddy Lewis Maxfield, 53, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, in Oklahoma City.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday at DeBolt Cemetery, Arnett, Okla.

Dwayne Bird
Former McLoud resident Dwayne Bird, 68, died Monday, Aug. 22, at this residence in Great Bend, Kan.

Service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, Great Bend, Kan., with the Rev. William F. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Eden Valley Cemetery, Seward, Kan. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday with family receiving friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend, Kan.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Road, Great Bend, KS 67530.

Fred Lester
Prague resident Fred Lester, 86, died Monday, Aug. 22, in Prague.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Brother Aaron Brock officiating. Burial will follow at the Prague Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothes Funeral Service in Prague.

William Eugene Newnam
Davenport resident William "Bill" Eugene Newnam, 73, died Thursday, Feb. 10.

Service will be 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Stroud. Burial will be at Davenport Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Stroud.

John Gibson Sr.
Shawnee resident John Gibson Sr., 89, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, in Shawnee.

He was born May 20, 1915, in Creek County to James and Nellie (Wolfe) Gibson.

He moved to Pottawatomie County as a teenager. He was married to Rose White Pipestem and later to Minnie Ellis.

Gibson drove a truck for Shawnee Feed for several years. He was a member of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; two sons, John Gibson Jr. and Joe Gibson; and daughter, Alice Pena.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Tino Ramirez of Shawnee; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother, George Gibson of Stillwater; and sister, Marlene Murdock of McLoud.

Tribal rites were held Wednesday evening at the Little Axe Community Center.

Service will be 11 a.m. today at Gibson Family Cemetery with Johnny Mann officiating.

Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh is directing arrangements.

Sarah Elizabeth Tenney
Tecumseh resident Sarah Elizabeth "Dolly" Tenney, formerly of El Reno, died Monday, Feb. 14, in Tecumseh.

She was born April 4, 1909, in El Reno, where she was reared and attended El Reno Schools.

She moved to Tribbey in 1951 and to Tecumseh in 1998.

She was a member of the Pentecostal Church and was a preacher who served churches in El Reno, Shawnee and Tecumseh.

Survivors include her son, George E. Decker of El Reno; her daughter, Mary Mason of Tecumseh; numberous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in El Reno with the Rev. Gerald W. VanHorn officiating.

Burial will be in El Reno Cemetery.

Service is under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home in El Reno.

Mary C. Fundis
Wanette resident Mary C. Fundis, 95, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, in Purcell

She was born Sept. 9, 1909, in Clinton to Robert Dickson and Valye (Burney) Dawson.

She was a graduate of Clinton High School, Weatherford Junior College and The University of Oklahoma.

She was married May 11, 1929, in Guthrie to Charles E. Fundis. He preceded her in death Nov. 2, 1992.

Fundis was a homemaker. She was born and reared in Clinton. She moved to Wanette in 1930, where she and her husband tended the family farm.

She was a member of the home demonstration club, the American Indian Club, past recipient of the Wanette Pioneer Award, a member of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau, the Chickasaw Nation, OETA and worked the county fair for the Oklahoma Farm Bureau.

She also was preceded in death by her parents and two daughters, Valye N. Fundis and Mary Caroline Fundis-Pybas.

Survivors include her daughters, Sarah Fundis of Tulsa, Edna Bremer and her husband, Curtis, of New Braunfels, Texas, and Charlene E. Fundis of Wanette; grandchildren and their spouses, James Charles Tillman, Robert and Jola Tillman, Charles Dawson and Brooke Bremer, Julianne and Chris Kugle, Mary Caroline and Mike Bauer; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Edna Marie and Earl Berry of Oklahoma City; and friends, Joyce Pybas and Juanita Coker.

Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Don McNamara officiating. Burial will be at Wanette Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Memorials may be made in Mrs. Fundis' name to any veteran's organization, orphanage or the OMRF.

Thelma Lee Savage
Longtime Seminole resident Thelma Lee Savage, 74, died Sunday, Feb. 27, at her home.

Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Terry Newell and Ray Newell officiating. Burial will be at Little Cemetery.

Swearingen Funeral Home is directing arrangements.

Susanna L. Colungo
Shawnee resident Susanna L. Colungo, 58, died Sunday, March 6, at an Oklahoma City Hospital.

She was born Jan. 1, 1947, in Concho to Lee Larney and Geneva (Brown) Larney.

Colungo had been a ward clerk for Shawnee Regional Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Colungo, April 3, 1993; her father; one sister, Patricia Kent, and one nephew, Glen Larney.

Survivors include her mother, Geneva Larney of Shawnee; four children and their spouses, Steve and Wilma Colungo of Shawnee, Darrell and Shawnee Colungo of Shawnee, Redena Colungo and Eric Haney of Shawnee, Monica and Benjamin Rodas of Oklahoma City; three stepchildren, Marie Vasquez, Steve Colungo and Pete Colungo; six grandchildren; sisters, Nevalee Deere of Shawnee, Billie Grass of Shawnee, Harriet Larney of Oklahoma City, Lonita Stewart of Norman, Gina Masquas of Shawnee; brothers, Roy Larney of Oklahoma City, Walter Larney of Wewoka, Allen Larney of Shawnee, Rocky Larney of Shawnee and Darrell Larney of Shawnee, and many other relatives.

Wake service will be 7 p.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Home.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ron Fleming officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
