Carina Dawn Johnson
Tecumseh resident Carina Dawn Johnson, 22, died Tuesday, July 19, at an Oklahoma City hospital.

She was born Jan. 4, 1983, in Shawnee to Grayling Johnson and Monica (Rodgers) Blankinship. She graduated from Tecumseh High School and worked as a clerk at Atwoods. She had lived in the Shawnee-Tecumseh area all of her life.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, the Rev. Eugene and Myrtle Johnson.

Survivors include her mother, Monica Blankinship, of Earlsboro; her father, Grayling Johnson, of Shawnee; two brothers, Jessie Johnson of Shawnee and Ryan Blankinship of Earlsboro; grandparents, Jack and Jodi Rodgers of Shawnee and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation with the family will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the chapel of Walker Funeral Service. Service will be 10 a.m. at the chapel of Walker Funeral Service.

Eunice Irene Kifer
Former longtime resident Shawnee resident Eunice Irene Kifer, 79, died Tuesday, July 19, in an Ada nursing home.

She was born Aug. 11, 1925, in Garden Grove to Wintford L. and Cora Isabell Lenord-Loveland.

She was married to Mr. Cecil A. McBroom and later to Mr. Otto Kifer. Both of which preceded her in death.

She lived in Shawnee most her life before moving to Ada in 1998 to be near her family. She worked as a sales clerk at Sears for 15 years and was a member of the Church of Christ.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, sister, Myrtle VanHorn; brother Billy Gene Loveland and a great-grandchild, Braeden Qualls.

Survivors include her son, W. C. McBroom of Oklahoma City; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Steve Cain of Atoka and Carolyn K. and Paul Harrell of Ada; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leroy and Norma Loveland of Midwest City, Floyd and Deany Loveland of San Antonio, Texas, Doyle Loveland of Shawnee and Donald and Sheryl Loveland of Shawnee; sister, Wanda Kirby of Oklahoma City; 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Randy Nail and the Rev. Ron Qualls officiating.

Memorials may be sent to the Gideon Living Memorial Bible Plan or their favorite charity.

Arrangements are directed by Gaskill Funeral Chapel.

Ina R. (Pinkston) Cole
Ina R. (Pinkston) Cole, beloved wife, mother, sister and child of God, was called home Tuesday, July 26.

She was born Feb. 18, 1951, in Carlsbad, N.M., to Noel and Elinor Ruth (Lane) Pinkston.

On Oct. 17, 1989, she married Brian Cole in Arkansas.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Pinkston, and a sister, Maybelle Pinkston.

Survivors include her husband, Brian, of the home; son, John Mundy and his wife, Kryssa, and grandson, Bryce, of Kansas City; son, Chris Mundy and his wife, Jamie, of Moore; stepson, Craig Cole of Norman; stepson, Anthony Cole and his wife, Twyla, and granddaughter, Elizabeth, of Lawton; sister and brother-in-law, Laverne and Mark Ramsey of Shawnee; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Ina touched many lives during her brief stay on this earth and was a friend and helper to any and all who needed her. She will be missed by all.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. John Mixon officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

James Allen Madden
Benbrook, Texas, resident James Allen Madden, 75, died Saturday, July 23, at Community Hospice of Fort Worth, Texas.

He was born Nov. 26, 1929, in Tulsa to James and Myrl Madden.

On Dec. 21, 1951, he married Jackie Ann Simpson.

He retired from General Dynamics (now Lockheed Martin) in 1993 after 37 years of service.

Jim was a loving son, husband and friend who will be missed by many.

Special thanks go to Community Hospice of Fort Worth, Texas, who aided Jim and his family during this trying time.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Buddy Madden and father-in-law, Jack Simpson.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jackie Ann Madden, of the home; sisters and brother-in-law, Nancy and Dan Hoffman and Janice Madden; mother-in-law, Thada Simpson; a host of family and friends.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Leroy Kerbo officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill Funeral Chapel.

Kathy Miller Kinzey
Norman resident Kathy Miller Kinzey, 58, died Thursday, July 28, at her home.

Ms. Kinzey was born April 24, 1947, in Wanette to Gordon and Lucille (Stover) Miller. She graduated from Wanette High School in 1964. She was active in cheerleading, D.A.R. and F.H.A. She attended Oklahoma State University, where she was a member of Sigma Delta Chi Sorority. Kathy graduated from Seminole Junior College with a Registered Nursing Degree in 1976. She practiced as a Registered Nurse at Mercy and Presbyterian Hospitals in Oklahoma City and Horizon Specialty Hospital in Edmond. She retired in 1998 due to blindness from complications of Type I diabetes.

Ms. Kinzey was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Lucille Miller; brother, Ike Miller; and niece, Dana Cline.

Survivors include two sisters, Ann Miller Pedigo of Norman and Colleen Cline of Goldsby; brother-in-law, Wyvern Cline of Goldsby; nieces, Kayla Yerkey of Goldsby, Marla Clutter of Blanchard, Tara Foutch of Purcell, Geneva Miller of San Antonio, Texas, and Michelle Miller of Tecumseh; nephew, Dr. Aaron Cline of Goldsby; great-nephews, Clay Cline of Norman and Colton and Caleb Cline of Goldsby; great-nieces, Cassie Cline of Goldsby and Mindy and Gemma Foutch of Purcell; and many cousins and friends.

Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Wanette Cemetery Chapel in Wanette with the Rev. Joe Grizzle officiating. Burial will follow at Wanette Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dr. Aaron Cline, Clay Cline, Lee Yerkey, Don Foutch, Mike Stover, Colton Cline and Caleb Cline.

Memorials may be made to Cross Pointe Church Youth Ministry and Building Fund at S.E. 24th and Hwy 9, Norman, OK 73071.

Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman is directing arrangements.

LaDawna Pennock
Stroud resident LaDawna Pennock, 37, departed this life on Saturday, July 30, north of Stroud.
She was born July 17, 1968, in Cushing to Joe Bailey and Karen (Ellis) Miles. She grew up in Cushing.

She was married May 20, 1994, in Oklahoma City to Richard Pennock.

LaDawna received her GED in 1984 and was pursuing her RN degree. She was a LPN and worked for the Sac and Fox Blackhawk Clinic in Stroud for two years. She was a member of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe and the First Indian Baptist Church in Cushing. She was baptized in Shawnee. She enjoyed spending time with her family; attending her children's sports and watching her daughter at cheerleading. LaDawna was their #1 cheerleader. She also enjoyed being with her parents, cooking and making everyone laugh. She was very fun to be around.

She was preceded in death by her father and grandfather, Ed Franklin.

Survivors include her husband, Richard of the home; sons, Leo Martinez, and Shane and Casey Pennock, all of the home; daughters, Nikki and Jenny Pennock of the home; brother and sister-in-law, Randall and Sharon Tiger of Pawnee; sisters and brothers-in-law, Cheryl and Carlos Zuniga of Cushing, Staci Juneau of Cushing and Traci and Justin Moran of Cushing; parents, Royce and Karen Juneau of Cushing; grandmother, Lorena Franklin of Cushing; aunts, Carol Littlehead and husband, Cecil, of Shawnee, Sharon Franklin of Cushing and Marilyn Thurman of Shawnee; uncles, Marvin Thurman and George Thurman, both of Shawnee; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Wake service was held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, at the First Indian Baptist Church with Duane Pratt presiding.

Service will be 10 a.m. today at the First Indian Baptist Church, 1200 E. Walnut in Cushing. Burial will follow at the Wakolee cemeteryin Shawnee under the direction of Palmer and Marler Funeral Home of Cushing.

Essie Laura "Jerry" Lakin
Shawnee resident Essie Laura "Jerry" Lakin, 86, died Sunday, July 31, at a local hospital.

She was born Jan. 14, 1919, in Webb, Miss., to Thomas William New Sr., and Mary Jane "Molly" (Downs) New.

She attended Shawnee High School and worked as a secretary for the Pottawatomie County Commissioners until retiring in 1982. Prior to that she worked in the cafeteria at Horace Mann Elementary for ten years.

She was married to Thomas Henry Lakin for 30 years before his death.

Jerry was a lifetime member of the First Church of God of Shawnee. She was a very loving and lovable person and a marvelous example of a dedicated Christian life. She was a wonderful mother and was always there to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Don Lakin of Livingston, Texas, and Tommie Lee Lakin of Shawnee; one daughter, Jerry Ann Knox of Shawnee; five grandchildren, Gary Don Lakin, Monica Marie Lakin, Alisa Renee Butler, Lynn Knox and Barbara Garner; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill New of Fayetteville, Ark., and Charlie New of Stafford, Kan., and one sister, Louella Wilson of Conroe, Texas.

Service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with Tom Harrison officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Walker Funeral Service. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice.

Pauline Yarbrough Wapskineh
Shawnee resident Pauline Wapskineh, 77, passed away Monday, August 1, in Oklahoma City Hospital.

She was born February 26, 1928, in Wewoka to Thomas Yarbrough and Susie (Buck) Yarbrough.

Pauline graduated from Haskell High School and retired as a CMA for Sunset Nursing Home in Shawnee. She was a member of the First Indian Baptist Church in Shawnee. Her greatest love was her Lord Jesus Christ. She spent hours in Bible study and prayer. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Andrew Wapskineh Jr. and Terry Lee Wapskineh; granddaughter, Ronda Ellis; brothers, John, Paul, Frank, and James Yarbrough and Jerry Frank; sister, Marie Powell.

Survivors included daughters, Laquetta Ellis and Glenda Wapskineh both of Shawnee; sons, Tom Wapskineh, Kenny Wapskineh and Ronny Wapskineh all of Shawnee; sisters, Gertrude Bagley, Cora Jean Zahn; 19 Grandchildren; 25 Great-Grandchildren and a number of dear nieces, nephews, and friends.

The wake service was 7 P.M. Tuesday August 2, at First Indian Baptist Church, Minnesota and Darrow Street, Shawnee, with the Rev. Rendon Falls officiating. Lunch will be served at noon today with the funeral service following at 2 P.M. at First Indian Baptist Church ,Shawnee with the Rev. Gary Hawkins and assisted by Rev. Rendon Falls. Burial to follow at Buck Family Cemetery, North of Wewoka. Arrangements are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.

Eula Mae Perry
Lifelong Prague resident Eula Mae Perry, 74, departed this life on Tuesday, Aug. 2, in Prague.

She was born Jan. 23, 1931, in Paden to Walter and Maudie Mae (Raney) McGowen.

She was married March 11, 1948, to John Francis Carter. He preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 1974. She later married Bert Matthew Perry. He also preceded her in death on July 8, 1995.

She was a member of the Prague Freewill Baptist Church.

She also was preceded in death by one brother.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, John Francis and Pam Carter of Madill, George Carter of Prague and the Rev. Berton and Sue Perry of Okemah; brothers, Harold McGowen of Milton-Freewater, Ore., and Ronald McGowen of Wister; sisters, Irene Harker of Walla Walla, Wash., and Lucille Hendley of Enfield Center, N.H.; six grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Parks Brothers Funereal Chapel in Prague with the Rev. Randall Miller officiating. Burial will follow at the Prague Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
