Gurvis Lewayne Dillon
Shawnee resident Gurvis Lewayne Dillon, 78, died Saturday, Feb. 12, in McLoud.

He was born Jan. 21, 1927, in Little Rock, Ark., to Marion Joshua and Lular Frances (Acord) Dillon.

He worked as a general laborer.

He served in the U.S. Army and Navy.

Dillon was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Survivors include three sons, Gary Dillon of Midwest City, Kerry Dillon and Mark Dillon, both of Shawnee; one daughter, Marvella Riddle of Shawnee; one brother, Doy Dillon of Ephrata, Wash.; one sister, Vestal Barrington of Los Angeles, Calif.; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Church of the Nazarene in Chandler with the Rev. Keith Cole officiating.

Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler is directing arrangements.

Amos Thomas Chupco
Seminole resident Amos Thomas Chupco, 80, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, in Oklahoma City.

A wake service will be 7 p.m. today at Hilltop Presbyterian Church, Wewoka.

Service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Hilltop Presbyterian Church with elder Kelly Tiger and Jerry Baker officiating. Burial will be at Achena Cemetery.

Swearingen Funeral Home is directing arrangements.

Loyd Homer Thrasher
Shawnee resident Loyd Homer Thrasher, 79, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, at his home.

He was born July 9, 1925, in Dale to Homer and Sarah (Likens) Thrasher.

He retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1976 with 29 years of service. He then worked several years for the State Highway Department.

He served with the 120th Hospital Unit, U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific from Dec. 28, 1943, to Feb. 24, 1946.

On Oct. 31, 1947, he married Lois Mae Smith.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Living Word Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Cecil and Sarah (Arbaugh) Smith; brother, Robert (Bob) Thrasher; and nephew, Mark Allen Thrasher.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Mae Thrasher of the home; two daughters and one son-in-law, Patricia Thrasher of Shawnee and Lucretia and Dan Teehee of Claremore; two grandsons and spouses, Jody and Vicki Geyer of Shawnee and Danny and Bobi Teehee of Coffeyville, Kan.; three granddaughters and husbands, Pam and Norm McCreary of Proctor, Mont., Shelly and Russ Pierce of Casper, Wyo., and Tami and John Hobbs of Maud; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a number of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Dale Cemetery with the Rev. J. Clifton Briscoe officiating.

Walker Funeral Service is directing arrangements.

Mabel Ditch
Shawnee resident Mabel Ditch, 91, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, in a Norman hospital.

She was born June 18, 1913, in Choctaw County to Amos A. and Maude (Collins) Norwood.

She graduated from Southeastern State College in Durant.

She taught history in Turkey, Hawaii and California and did research in history.

She attended church in Florida before moving to Shawnee in 2003.

In the 1950s, she married John Ditch in Hawaii. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include her sister, Bertha Collins of Shawnee; nephews and spouse, Jack and Ann Chambless of Lake Tenkiller and Wendell Scroggin of Delion, Texas, and many other family and friends.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel of Walker Funeral Service with the Rev. Dr. Rockford Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Konawa Cemetery. Walker Funeral Home of Shawnee is directing arrangements.

Evelyn Goss
Oklahoma City resident Evelyn Goss, 61, died Saturday, Feb. 19, in Oklahoma City.

She was born Nov. 2, 1943, in Shawnee to Fred and Lena Belle (Thomason) Hembree.

She was a lifelong Shawnee area resident until moving to Oklahoma city eight years ago. She was a nurse's aide and a homemaker.

She married Del Goss on Aug. 21, 1970. He preceded her in death on May 6, 1999.

She also was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Clara and Robert Rogers of Dibble, Billy and Sandy Bowman of Tecumseh; sons and daughters-in-law, Willie and Joanne Newman, Johnny and Kathy Newman, all of Okmulgee, Tony and Lisa Newman of Oklahoma City; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Clara Hurst of Shawnee, Elaine Barhams and Murt Surgill, both of Las Vegas, Nev.; stepdaughters and their spouses, Dolly and John Bettis of Bethany, Shelly and John Montgomery of Oklahoma City, Shelly Newman of Joplin, Mo., and many other relatives.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Rick Parker officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery.

Cooper Funeral Home is directing arrangements.

C.B. Jarvis
Chandler resident C.B. Jarvis, 75, died Sunday, Feb. 20, in Meeker.

He was born Aug. 1, 1929, in Gould to Louis Richard and Lois Ann (Brown) Jarvis. He graduated from Southern Nazarene University in 1958.

He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He married Nancy Craft June 21, 1954, in Stillwater.

He retired from the ministry and later retired from the United States Postal Service. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Broken Arrow Sams Club, Escapes RV Club, and the First Church of the Nazarene in Shawnee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mark Randall Jarvis, eight brothers and six sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Mary Jarvis of Gainesville, Texas; Phillip and Tonya Jarvis of Chandler; Gary Jarvis of Chandler; two daughters and sons-in-law, Camilla and Todd Westfall of Chandler, Diana and Gerald Luschen of Chandler; two sisters, Frances Sinclair of Mount Ida, Ark.; Jerry Downing of Davis, 15 grandchildren and many other relatives.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Chandler with the Rev. Rick Blackwell and the Rev. Johnny Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler.

C.W. Annanders Sr.
Tecumseh resident C.W. Annanders Sr., 87, died Saturday, Feb. 19, in Tecumseh.

He was born June 14, 1917, in Archie City, Texas, to Robert L. and Alice Missouri (Montgomery) Annanders. They moved by covered wagon to the Tribbey and Macomb area when he was 5. He attended school at Tribbey, graduating from the eighth grade.

He served with the United States Army from January 1942 to October 1944 in the Aleutian Islands.

He worked at Tinker Air Force Base, retiring June 29, 1973.

He married Sybil Hamlin July 2, 1946, in Norman. They ranched in the Tecumseh and Macomb areas. She preceded him in death on Feb. 8, 2004.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert L. Annanders; granddaughter, Rebecca Annanders; two sisters, Susie Troxell and Lela Churchwell, and four brothers, Roy, Andy and Carl Annanders and Johnny Davis.

Survivors include two daughters, Dorthy J. Cruz of Tecumseh, and Patricia Annanders of Earlsboro; three sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Kay Annanders, Mike and Marilyn Annanders, and Charles Annanders, all of Tecumseh; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edna Suggs and Betty Cathey, both of Tecumseh, and many other relatives.

Service will be 2 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Chapel in Tecumseh with the Rev. Jimmie Heard officiating. Burial will be at Mars Hill Cemetery.

Clyde L. Hair
Former Police Chief Clyde L. Hair, 79, died Monday, Feb. 21, at his home in Shawnee.

He was born Jan. 15, 1926, in Yeager, the son of Benjamin and Myrtle (Horn) Hair. He grw up on a farm south of Tupelo and and graduated from Tupelo High School.

He served in the United States Army during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

He married Tommie King on June 21, 1947, in Oklahoma City and drove a truck for a few years before joining the Shawnee Police Department.

He served 22 years in the police department, the last three years as chief, before retiring in April 1979. After retiring, he continued to work in the Shawnee Street Department for another eight years.

Hair was a member of Oak Park Church of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Clovis, Pete, Bud and Doyle.

Survivors include his wife, Tommie Hair, of the home; four children, Gary Dean Hair of the home, Mike Hair of Oklahoma City, Deborah Gayle Cole and her husband, Robert, of Anaheim, Calif.; Mark Hair of Little Rock, Ark.; three grandchildren, Jeremy Hair of Seminole, Joshua Hair and his wife, Kacie, of Oklahoma City, Ashley Cole of Anaheim, Calif.; three great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Deloris Dick Jackson of Chouteau, and many other relatives.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Leroy Kerbo officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Resthaven Funeral Home is directing arrangements.

Billy George Horn
Earlsboro resident Billy George Horn, 82, died Thursday, Feb. 17, at his home.

No service is scheduled.
