Ray O. Bolt
Ray O. Bolt went to be with the lord on May 29, 2005. Ray was born on March 11, 1929 in Brownwood, Texas. Descended from a pioneer Texas family which had lived there since 1852, he was the sixth of eleven children born to Carl J. and Lillie Ferrill Bolt.

Ray married Alice Brooks on January 8, 1956 in Shawnee, OK. They lived in Odessa, TX from 1956 to 1958 when they moved to the Shawnee area. They lived in McLoud since 1962. Ray was a master stonemason and bricklayer, building several beautiful homes, as well as much commercial work. An example of his skill is shown in OK. He also volunteered many hours building churches. He operated a backhoe business in McLoud for 30 years. He also had many hobbies, such as planting and grafting trees, fishing, restoring old cars, woodworking, and growing and harvesting pecans and strawberries. In McLoud, Ray was well known for his musical talents, and often sang specials in church. Aboe all else, he loved his Savior and his family.

Ray is survived by his wife of 49 years, and children Deborah K. Bolt of Schertz, TX; Denise and husband Phillip Miller of Moore, OK; and Jason Bolt of McLoud, OK; Two granddaughters, Rachel and Shannon Miller of Moore, OK; Four sisters, Anna Belle Lee of Quero, TX; Valrea and husband, Everett Thomas of Conroe, TX; Billy Jean and husband Gill Higgenbottom of Taylor, TX; and Fay Pope of Point Blank, TX. Four brothers: Carl J. Bolt, Jr., and wife Mary of Caldwell, TX; Jack and wife Irene Bolt of Crockett, TX; Judith and wife Joyce Bolt of Goldwaite, TX; and Joel David Bolt of Kingsland, TX; also numerous neices, and a host of friends.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Yvonne Williamson and Dorothy Johns.

The casket will be open until service time and not opened after service.

Funeral Services of Ray will be held at the chapel of Walker Funeral Service, Thursday, June2, 2005, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Clyde Quick officiating, burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery.

Robert Craig
Robert "Bob" Craig, age 67, died Wednesday, June 1, in Shawnee.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Larry Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

He was born Aug. 13, 1937, in Steamboat Springs, Colo., to James Leonard and Lila May (Crossan) Craig.

He was reared in Colorado and was a graduate of Central High School in Grand Junction, Colo.

On July 3, 1969, he married Lou Bliven in Grand Junction, Colo.

He served 11 years in the U.S. Navy. Bob worked at Westinghouse, Scrivner Inc. and Eaton Corp. until retiring in 2002. He enjoyed horses, hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his father and half-sister.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Lou Craig, of the home; sons, Timothy Dale Craig of California, Richard Roy Craig of Chandler and Robert Reed Craig of Colorado; daughters, Charie' Louise Craig of North Carolina, Davina Dee Craig-Sealock of Moore; two grandchildren, Devin Thomas Craig and Caitlin May Rose Craig of Gastonia, N.C.; mother, Lila May Craig of Colorado; brother, Charles Leonard Craig of Arizona; and a sister, Donna May Smith of Colorado.

Julianna Richards
Shawnee resident Julianna Richards, 82, died Friday at a local hospital.

Richards was born March 19, 1923, in Shawnee to Lon and Lova (Wooley) Taylor.

She married Edward Richards March 21, 1938, in Shawnee. They were married 67 years.

Richards loved music, working as a music teacher and singing in the Richards Trio. She was on the Oklahoma Music Teachers Honor Roll and served as president of several singing conventions in Oklahoma.

She enjoyed gardening and growing flowers and was a dependable volunteer for the American Red Cross.

Richards was a member of the Church of God Seventh Day.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant son, Donnie Richards, two brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by her husband of the home; five children and their spouses, Phyllis Stewart and her husband, M.D. McBride, of Shawnee; Jerry Richards and his wife, Lola, of Wanette; Terry Richards and his wife, Helen, of Shawnee; Kathy Stacy and her husband, Chuck, of Shawnee; Jamie Richards of Nashville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Minnie Taylor of Shawnee; several nieces and nephews and other family and friends.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Billy Maxwell
Billy Maxwell, 69, Shawnee, died Friday, June 3.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Larry Sparks offciating. Burial will follow in Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Maxwell was born June 18, 1935, in Tecumseh to Arlie and Ruby Jewel (Wilson) Maxwell. He was reared in the Tecumseh area. He also lived in Louisiana for 11 years before returning to Tecumseh 35 years ago.

On Nov. 20, 1970, he married Joyce Douglas in Shawnee. He served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed woodworking and worked as a carpenter most of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Jarad Maxwell; one brother and sister-in-law, Jelly and Rita Maxwell; and one sister and two brothers-in-law, Juanita and Troy Crownover and George Giles.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Joyce Maxwell, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Carla Maxwell of Tecumseh and Jimmy and Vickie Maxwell of Ada; four grandchildren; three great-granchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Abbie Maxwell of Tecumseh; and one sister, Marie Giles of Shawnee.

Ralph Homer Cherry
Longtime Wolf area resident Ralph Homer Cherry, 84, died Thursday, June 2, at Norman Veterans Center.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 6, at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Burial will follow at Wolf Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Lon J. Bowers
Lon J. Bowers passed from this life July 2 at Unity Health Center, North Campus, in Shawnee, at the age of 78.

He was born Oct. 3, 1926, in Macomb to Lena (Parsons) and Lon D. Bowers.

He married Joyce "Inez" Hale on July 13, 1964, in Sherman, Texas.

He was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army and served during World War II. He also was a member of Trinity Baptist Church of Maud, a former member of the Odd Fellows in Tecumseh and former member of the American Legion.

He retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1979 after 34 years as a supervisor over shipping.

He also loved to fish.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Eugene Bowers; and one great-granddaughter, Hunter Chaffin.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce "Inez" Bowers of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Curtis and Paula Bowers, Lloyd and Glenda Bowers and Floyd Bowers, all of Maud; one daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Mike Wittrock of Smithville, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Glen and June Bowers of Ponca City; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Jerri and Walter Brown of Fairfax, Charlotte Janway of Tecumseh and Louise Pine of Eufaula; nine grandchildren, Steven Bowers, Glen Alan Bowers, Jarrod Bowers, Suan Streeter, Jennifer Chaffin, Jackie Porterfield, Sydnee Tucker, Brytnee Tucker, Thad Tucker; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Steve Wall, Randy Crawford, Steve Wood, Jack Morris, Paul Lucy and Gene Reagan. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Pierce, Dell Williams, John Nuckolls, Tom Clark, Ray Lee and Charles Hopper.

Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Baptist Church in Maud with Wayne Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund.

Arrangements are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home.

Barbara Anna Bounds
Lifelong Konawa area resident Barbara Anna Bounds died Saturday, July 2, at Seminole Medical Center. She was 85 years old.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Vamoosa Cemetery with Ed Bray officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.

Loretta Going
Loretta Going of Shawnee died Friday, July 1, at her home. She was 69 years old.

She was born July 22, 1935, in Claremore, to Harvey Jim Sr. and Mary Cornell-Jim. She grew up in Holdenville and attended Eufaula schools.

She married John Going Sr. on Feb. 26, 1955, at Indian Center Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.

She was a member of First Indian Baptist Church in Shawnee. She cared deeply for her church family and enjoyed attending gospel singings.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Going Sr. in 1999; one son, John Going Jr.; one daughter, Lucy Grace Going-McCulley; two brothers, Henry Jim and Harvey Jim Jr.; one sister, Ruby Jim; one granddaughter, Danae Ramirez.

She is survived by two sons, Jimmy Going of Oklahoma City and Ronald Going of Shawnee; one sister, Dora Phillips of Shawnee; two grandsons and wives, Frank and Avis McCulley and Jonathan and Maryland Going; one granddaughter, Tiffany Ramirez; four great-grandchildren, Ryan McCulley, Logan McCulley, Tatyana Going and Hosea Ramirez.

A wake service will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday at First Indian Baptist Church in Shawnee. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Indian Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Hawkins, the Rev. Jimmy Anderson and the Rev. Houston Tiger officiating. Burial will follow at the Cornell family cemeterynear Holdenville. Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Glenn G. Blankenship
Glenn G. Blankenship, 80, passed away July 1 in Midwest City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pearl and Dave Blankenship; brother, Lynn Blankenship; sister, Billie Love; and granddaughter, Tisha Dowdy.

He is survived by two daughters, Linda Dowdy and Leatha Broderick of Arlington, Texas; one son, Glenn Blankenship of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

After leaving the U.S. Navy, he worked in the oil fields and overseas.

To comply with his wishes, no service will be held.

Grace Marie Couch
Former Shawnee resident Grace Marie Couch, 95, of Pryor died Wednesday, July 27, 2005, in Pryor.

She was born Feb. 12, 1910, in Shawnee to James and Ethel (Dryer) Casey. She grew up and went to school in Shawnee and later attended Oklahoma Baptist University.

She married Larry Mills in 1940, then married Paul Couch in 1960. She owned and operated the Mills Dairy Mart in Pryor for seven years until 1962.

While living in Shawnee, she worked as an evening operator for the Shawnee Telephone Company. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Pryor and a member of the U Need Us Sunday School class.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her two husbands.

Surviving are special friends Darrell and Pat Pruitt of Pryor and Bill Johnson of Tulsa; and seven cousins: Leon Casey and Amy Casey, both of Shawnee; Beth Vogt of Oklahoma City; Saundra Johnson of Shawnee; Sue Johnson of Macomb; Era Walker of Springdale, Ark.; and Blanch Wilson of Shawnee.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Key Funeral Home in Pryor. Online condolences can be left at www.keyfuneralhome.com.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery in Shawnee with the Rev. Don Baker officiating. Key Funeral Home of Pryor is in charge of the arrangements.
