Kathryn May Sinclair
Shawnee resident Kathryn May Sinclair, 73, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, at her home.

She was born Oct. 14, 1933, in Marshall, Texas, to Jewel W. and Pauline V. (Smith) Lowry.

She married Jim Sinclair and was a truck driver.

Kathryn was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; daughter, Sabrina Sinclair; infant son, Gary Lyn.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Danny Hassen of McLoud; son and daughter-in-law, Robby and Cindy Sinclair of Shawnee; two brothers, Bill Lowry and his wife, Joyce, and Jim Lowry; two sisters, Margaret Akins and her husband, Walter, and Gwen Hess; grandchildren, Mirriya and Josh Sinclair, Summer Lang, Justin Sinclair and Amber Hassen; two great-grandchildren, Danyn Land and Dylan Lang; numerous nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Charles Sinclair and his wife, Linda; sister-in-law, Wanda Walters.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Liberty Baptist Church with Bill Matthews and Phil Thompson officiating. Walker Funeral Service is directing arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association of Oklahoma.

Mark E. Tevis
Tecumseh resident Mark E. Tevis, 71, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at Unity North Hospital.

He was born on April 16, 1936, in Oklahoma City, to John and Dollie May (Coates) Tevis.

On Aug. 30, 1961, he married Mary Kanady, in Gainesville, Texas.

He was a Christian and was a devoted loving husband, father, and grandfather. He never met a stranger and was well known in Tecumseh by all who saw him riding his scooter around town with his little Yorkie "Tiger" in the basket. He was a painter, maintenance tech, and boiler operator who retired from Keysor Century Corporation in Newhall, Calif. He was a veteran and personified integrity. He enjoyed telling and hearing jokes. Through the years he was a skater, bowler, softball player, bicycle rider, golfer, treasure hunter, game player, karate black-belt, and a fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dollie May Tevis; one brother, J.T. and three sisters, Nova, Eunice and Dorothy.

Survivors include his precious wife of forty-six years, Mary Tevis of Tecumseh; daughters, Lora Watson and fiance', Markus Suggs, of Tecumseh and Sharlene and husband, Barry Schahn, of Gorman, Texas; five grandchildren, Brian, Eden and fiance', Zach, Marcus, Daniel, and Lauren; one great-grandson, Carter; three brothers, Jerry Tevis, Charlie Tevis, Paul and wife, Jolene Tevis; two sisters, Lora Lee and husband, Don Estep, and Mrs. Faye Keithly.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. today at First Baptist Church, 301 S. Broadway St., Tecumseh.

Don Milburn Deatherage
Shawnee resident Don Milburn Deatherage, 76, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, in his home.

Service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Chapel of Walker Funeral Service with Rev. Keith Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Patricia Rodgers
Tecumseh resident Patricia Rodgers, 79, passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, in Oklahoma City.

She loved fishing, bowling, swimming, traveling, playing card's with friends and family and especially her husbands' racing with MAR-2CAR. She loved teaching the kids to bowl at Firelake Bowling Alley.

She had a great love for all of her family and will be greatly missed by all of us. Her memory will be in our hearts forever.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin B. Rodgers.

Survivors include her daughter, Teresa Rodgers and grandson, Cheyenne Longacre of Oklahoma City.

Her body was donated to medical science for research purposes.

Memorial Mass will be celebrated noon Wednesday at St. Benedict Church, 632 N. Kickapoo, Shawnee, with the Rev. Maurus P. Jaeb officiating. Private Burial will take place at later time at Resurrection Cemetery in Oklahoma City.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Benedict Church Youth Fund, 632 N. Kickapoo, Shawnee, Okla. 74801 or American Heart Association.

Kaylynn Jaquay Taylor
Kaylynn Jaquay Taylor, 2 months, of Shreveport, LA passed away on January 4, 2008. She was born on October 25, 2007 to Scottie and Jaquay Taylor.

Kaylynn was an angel given to us for a short time. She touched the lives of anyone who came in contact with her. She was loved very much and will be missed tremendously.

Kaylynn is survived by her parents; brothers Xaniel Walker and Collyn Taylor; grandparents Raymond and Linda Young; grandfather Rick Taylor; great grandparents Rex and Sue Taylor; great grandfather Alfred Moore; great grandmother Wanda Duggan and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and many other loving family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by great grandparents Thomas Rose, Dorothy Rose, Bill Wignall, Jean Wignall and Beulah Moore.

Services were held Monday, January 07, 2008 at Resthaven Funeral Home, Shawnee, OK.

Funeral arrangements provided by the John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel, Moore, OK.

Luis Phil Parrish
Luis Phil Parrish, 69, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, January 3, 2008.

Mr. Parrish graduated from Shawnee High School in 1957. He married Sally Ann Stout on May 31, 1959. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1965. Mr. Parrish was employed for some time with ONG and then worked for Proctor and Gamble until his retirement.

Mr. Parrish was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Ann Parrish; his parents, Marion Orla and Juliette Francis Parrish; and a brother, Jack E. Parrish. Survivors include his two daughters, Penny Parrish Lee and husband, Robert E. Lee, and their two children, Ashley Niccole Lee and Phillip Thomas Lee; Teri C. Pool and partner, Debra Keys, and Teri's children, Trever, Tiffany and Tyler Pool, all of Norman; four sisters, Carol Souders of Shawnee, OK, Margaret St. Clair, Russie Early and Jean Knodle, all of California; brother-in-law, Jack H. Stout Jr.and partner, Jon Cavendish, of Colorado; niece, Jennifer Elliott and husband, Lee, and their children, Amanda, Lauren, and Jackson Elliot, of Norman; and nephew, Jason Stout and wife, Shannon, and their children, Sophia and Roan Stout of Austin, TX.

A private family service will be held after cremation. Thank you to all the people who knew and loved him throughout his life. Arrangements handled by Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Memorial and Honor Program, National Processing Center, P.O. Box 1131, Fairfax, VA 22038-1131.

Joan King
Joan King, 75, of Canadian, Okla., passed away Sunday Jan. 6, 2008 in Shawnee.

She was born Feb. 16, 1932, in Corwin, Kan., and had been living in Canadian for the last ten years. Joan had been a resident of Yukon since 1964 before moving to Eufaula Lake ten years ago.

Joan and her husband, John, were founding members of Christ Church in Yukon and she was currently a member of Canadian Church of Christ at the lake. Joan enjoyed her yard work and landscaping.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, John.

Survivors include her sons, Johnnie of Yukon, Jimmie of Seattle, Wash., Joey of Shawnee, and Jeffrey of Oklahoma City; daughter, Jacalyn Spencer of Shawnee; brother, Bobby Brown of Kingfisher; sisters, Dorothy Rosson of Warr Acres, Phyllis Rosson of Yukon, and Rita Tedders of Orlando, Fla.; sister-in-law, Mary Louise Bryant of Edmond; 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan 10, in the Smith & Turner Chapel with burial following in the Yukon Cemetery.

Joseph William Grove
Lifelong Sacred Heart and Konawa resident Joseph William Grove, 85, passed away Friday, Jan. 5, at Shawnee Care Center in Shawnee. Joseph was born Sept. 25, 1921, on the family farm in Konawa to Arthur Patrick and Anna Catherine (Kuestersteffen) Grove.

He attended Saint Mary's Academy Grade School at Sacred Heart and graduated from Konawa High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a V-5 Cadet and received an honorable discharge on Jan. 4, 1943.

He married Iva Marie Bourbonnais on Sept. 2, 1952. He later married Geraldine Lehman on May 15, 1993 at Sacred Heart.

Joseph worked in the greater area oilfields more than 30 years as a roughneck and roustabout for St. Louis Well Service, Kennedy and Booth Well Service. He also farmed all of his life. He was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the American Legion.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his first wife, Iva on July 6, 1989; one son, Joseph Patrick Grove; one brother, Chris Grove; three sisters, Emma Semtner, Monica Moran and Sister Mary Tarsicius, R.S.M. Surviors include his wife Geraldine Grove of Shawnee; one daughter, Diane Beesley of Shawnee; one brother, John Grove of Konawa; one sister, Teresa Sanders of Newcastle; brother-in-law, Roy Bourbonnais of Tecumseh; two sisters-in-law, Ann Hopkins and her husband Dean of Abilene, Texas and Maggie Snider of Midwest City; three grandchildren, Stephen Beesley of St. Louis, OK, Victor Beesley of Shawnee and Tamryn Beesley of Shawnee; two great-grandchildren, Travis Doiron of Shawnee and Zoe Boyce of St. Louis, OK; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.

A Rosary will be held 7 p.m. today at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Matthew Brown, OSB officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Serving as casket bearers will be Stephen Beesley, Victor Beesley, Joe Semtner, David Semtner, Steve Semtner and Mike Varnell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Dorthey Viola Johnson Lynn
Shawnee resident Dorthey Viola Johnson Lynn, 81, got her wish to go be with the Lord. She passed from this earth Sunday, Jan. 7, in Shawnee after a very long illness.

She was born June 5, 1925, in Asher to Walter Lee Nelson and Ida Mae Fisher-Nelson.

Dorthey was a seamstress all her life. She made specialized clothing for many people in the Shawnee area. She also made costumes for Saint Gregorys College and the Oklahoma Baptist University drama departments. She loved to crochet, work in her vegetable garden and flower beds, make quilts and embroidery.

She had lived in Shawnee, Konawa and Tecumseh; spending most of her life in Shawnee.

She was a member of Temple Baptist Church, Eastern Star and the Rebeccas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Sim F. Johnson and Lowell Lynn; sisters, Francis Victor and Joann Sanders; and brother Ira Nelson.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Anna Mae and Glen Sires of Shawnee; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert F. and Virginia Johnson of Ada; sisters, Agnes Baker of Tecumseh, Marie Smith of Oklahoma City, Lillian Brackeen of Del City, Dorothy M. Hatch of Roff, Okla.; five grandchildren and spouses, Heather and Brian Moore of Tecumseh, Crystal and Pete Barger of Shawnee, Kyle and Anitra Sires of Stillwater, Seaman Logan Johnson of Point Loma, Calif., Kristian Markmum of Hunnington Beach, Calif.; two great-granddaughters, Jordyn and Gracie Moore of Tecumseh; two great-grandsons, Gavin and Kirin Joseph Joey Sires of Stillwater; many other loving family members and friends.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel in Tecumseh with the Rev. Mike Craig officiating. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery.

One of Gods angels is going home.

Geneva Christine Fisher Lifelong Konawa resident Geneva Christine Fisher, 83, died Sunday, Jan. 7, at Valley View Reginal Hospial in Ada.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa. Burial will be at Konawa Cemetery.

Donald Paul Ray Smith
Donald Paul Ray Smith Harrah resident Donald Paul Ray Smith, 69, Sunday, Jan. 7, in Midwest City.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel in Harrah with the Rev. Dennis Stone officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Memory Gardens in Midwest City under the directions of Smith~Parks Funeral Service, Harrah.
