Bessie Lillie Walters
Prague resident Bessie Lillie Walters departed this life on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, in Oklahoma City at the age of 87.

Bessie was born Aug. 16, 1920, in Prague to Frank and Minnie H. (Duzi) Rubac.

On Dec. 18, 1938, she married Charles Otto "Peachie" Walters in Prague. He preceded her in death on May 5, 1966. She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Bessie retired from the Prague Hospital where she worked as an LPN. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Prague.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Don and Kay Walters of Edmond; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Mike Lang of Norman; grandchildren, Staci and Nathan Lockhart of Norman, Trey and Kylie Teape of Prague, Kelli and Landon Spence of Edmond and Shane and Penny Walters of Edmond; nine great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Lawrence Sykora of Edmond.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with the Rev. Larry Jacobson officiating. Burial will follow at Prague Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.

Harold L. Rouse
Shawnee resident Harold L. Rouse died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, in Norman at the age of 87.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at Tecumseh Cemetery with Bro. Clint Dawkins officiating.

Viewing times will be 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. until service time Monday.

Other information is pending and will be announced by Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Ruby Fern Eighmy
Former Shawnee resident Ruby Fern (Dannar) Eighmy, 78, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 10, in Grapevine, Texas.

On March 2, 1928 she was born to Marion L."Jake" and Kate (Trump) Dannar.

She grew up in the Worth, Miss. community and attended Worth school. Later, graduating from Grant High School, Grant City, Miss.

She married John Lee Eighmy in 1948, and they raised three children. The family lived in Missouri, Arkansas and Oklahoma, where John was a pastor and university professor. John preceded his wife in death on Feb. 19, 1970. Ruby graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University, Shawnee and the Master degree programs at Central State University, Edmond. She taught high school science and math in Shawnee for 24 years.

Ruby professed faith in Jesus Christ at a young age and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shawnee. She also held membership in Omicron Delta Kappa, an education sorority, and was active in Shawnee Little Theatre productions and costuming. She enjoyed traveling, especially overseas, as well as collecting and refurbishing antiques and collectibles.

Also preceding her in death were her husband, parents, her sister, Maxine and Virginia; her husband's parents, Ed and Mabel Eighmy; and her husband's siblings, Frances, Rodney, and Melvis.

Survivors include her three children, Jeffrey Eighmy and his wife, Catherine of Tucson, Ariz., Jennifer Duncan and husband, John of Cassville, Miss., and Jaclyn Potter and husband, David of Lantana, Texas; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, Alicia Eighmy Uhl and husband, Greg, and sons, Aidan and Kyler of Wilmington, N.C., Jay Duncan and wife, Jennifer and daughters, Grace and Kate of Lantana, Texas, Jeff Duncan and wife, Christa and daughters, Emma and Merdith of Washington, Miss., Jonathan Potter of Waco, Texas, Jacob Potter of Norman; two nephews, Jimmy Herndon and Jesse Akins; niece, Cathy Hafner; sisters-in-law, Mardelle Turner, Betty Shipley, Bonnie Schumacher, Theresa Combs, and Milly Eighmy; as well as many other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date under the direction of Andrew Funeral Home in Grant City, Mo..

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grant City Baptist Church, Grant City, Missouri, or American Hospice, 3124 S. E. Loop 820, Fort. Worth, Texas, 76140.

Calvin Young
Tecumseh resident Calvin Young, 76, died Friday, Jan. 12, in Shawnee.

Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Larry Sparks officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Harold L. Rouse
Shawnee resident Harold Rouse, 87, passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, in Norman.

He was born Sept. 14, 1920 to James Harvey and Alice Vinita (Derbin) Rouse in Broken Arrow, Okla. He was then raised south of Seminole, and spent most of his life in the Shawnee area. He graduated from Wolf High School in Wolf, Okla. and attended OBU.

On Sept. 9, 1939, he married Alice Jean Harris in Wewoka. She preceded him in death March 12, 2001.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following his retirement from Tinker AFB in 1974 as an aircraft equipment specialist, he moved to Lake Texoma, where he lived for many years before returning to the Shawnee area in 1992. He was a former Mason, and governor of the Moose Lodge. He was active in the Elks Club. He loved fishing and golfing.

He also was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Frank Rouse.

Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Delores and Don Austin of Moore, Sharon Meyer of Tulsa, and Kathleen and James Brooks of Shawnee; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Doris Rouse of Shawnee; grandchildren, Donnie Austin, Darla Schantz, Kim Kidd, Ben Meyer, Michelle Mincher, Chris Rouse, James Brooks, Jr. and Shannon Filbeck; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Alma Smith of Houston, Texas, and brother, Ralph Rouse of Midwest City.

Viewing times will be 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. to service time on Monday.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Tecumseh Cemetery with Bro. Clint Dawkins officiating, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Etta Jean Farley
Shawnee resident Etta Jean Farley, 80, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, at a local hospital.

Visitation will be Monday. Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hilltop Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Nickerson officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Gloria "June" Russell
Longtime Seminole resident Gloria "June" Russell, 75, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008 in Seminole.

Service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Seminole with a burial to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Full Obituary information will follow. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, 100 W. Strothers, Seminole, Oklahoma, 74868.

Larry Neil Byford
Claremore resident Larry Neil Byford, 60, died Friday, Jan. 12, in Claremore.

Service is pending with Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Stroud.

Irene Snyder
Lifelong Dale resident Irene Snyder, 91, left this earth to meet her Lord, Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, at 3 p.m. surrounded by the family who loved her very much.

She was born Feb. 28, 1916, to R.L. and Nellie Ramsey.

She married Ben Snyder April 2, 1938, and they were married for 51 years before he passed away in 1989.

She was a homemaker, loving mother, grandma, great-grandma, great-great-grandma and a dedicated member of the Dale Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Bud, Leroy, and Charlie Ramsey; and great-great-granddaughter, Kassidee Sheppard.

She is survived by her children, Jim Snyder and wife, Margaret, of Dale, Jeanie Sims and husband, Robert, of Dale, Joyce Sanders and husband, Joe, of Midwest City; grandchildren, Mark Snyder and wife, Dee, Cozay Snyder, Tammy Morris and husband, Mike, Rodney Sims, Melissa Koboldt and husband, Eric, Sara Myers and husband, Chris; 24 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Don Ramsey and wife, Dean, of Jones; one sister-in-law, Hattie Tansley; numerous nieces, nephews and large host of friends and church family.

She was loved and respected by all who knew her and will be missed tremendously by her family and friends.

Service will be 2 p.m. today at Dale Church of Christ with Dewayne Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Dale Cemetery.

A special thank you to Dr. Vail Stephens, Dr. Debra McAlister and staff, nurses and caring staff, especially Robert Kluding from Prairie View Home Health and Hospice for taking such gentle and tender care of our sweet mom and grandma, Irene Snyder.

Chance Drew Baker
Chandler resident Charles Drew Baker, 44, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, in Chandler.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Trinity Baptist Church in Wellston with the Rev. Lane Buckley officiating.

Service is under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Chandler.

Flossie M. Dodson
Shawnee resident Flossie M. Dodson, 97, died Saturday Jan. 12, 2008, at a local nursing home.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Walker Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Home.

Margaret Bardaro
Shawnee resident Margaret Bardaro died Monday, Jan. 14, in Shawnee.

Service is pending under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Mary Buzzard
McLoud resident Mary Buzzard, 75, died Friday, Jan. 12, at her home.

Mary was born Jan. 30, 1931, in Shawnee to Guy H. and Elizabeth (Anderson) Sandel.

She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1949. She attended Oklahoma Baptist University and The University of Oklahoma.

On Sept. 7, 1951, she married Richard E. Buzzard.

Mary was a homemaker, wife and mother. She worked at Sylvania in the early 1950s until her husband returned from military service in Korea and Japan. She was a bookkeeper for her husband's auto repair business and her parents' produce business.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of McLoud, and the Bykota Sunday School Class for 51 years and the church choir.

Mary enjoyed activities and traveling with her family, attending events of her grandchildren, the fellowship of her Sunday School Class, sewing, cooking, crafts and the out-of-doors.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Kathy Jane Buzzard.

Survivors include her husband, Richard of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne and Ben Frits of Stillwater, Kay and Terry Rials of Newalla; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Kathy Buzzard of McLoud and Guy and Kathy Jo Buzzard of Grapevine, Texas; four grandchildren, Hunter Rials, Braydon Buzzard, and Addyson and Anna Buzzard; sister, Bettie Hall of Shawnee; sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Jack Bird of McLoud and Bob and Barbara Buzzard of Shawnee; uncle and aunt, Bert and Wanda Lane of Shawnee; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of McLoud with the Rev. Ernest Graham and the Rev. Bill Derrick officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Walker Funeral Service, Shawnee.
