Jane E. Barnes
Shawnee resident Jane E. Barnes died Tuesday, Feb. 6, in Oklahoma City at the age of 77.

She was born Sept. 3, 1929, in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Jane met her first husband in Brooklyn, N.Y. Both were in the U.S. Navy. They were stationed in Japan where they adopted their three children. They were then stationed at Widby Island, Wash., as well as living in Maryland, N.J. She then moved to California before moving to Oklahoma where she met her second husband, Joe Barnes. She had lived in Maud for the past 15 years.

Following her military service, she worked as a LVN for several nursing homes and as a homemaker for most of her life. Her children and grandchildren were the highlight of her life. She loved making people smile.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Barnes, and her parents.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Morrow-Wade of Silver Springs, Nev.; son, Daniel Hallinan; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Christa Hallinan of Shawnee; granddaughters, Sherri Brown of Tecumseh, Christy Hallinan of Shawnee and Stephanie Hallinan of Tecumseh; grandsons, Clayton and Kyle Rogers; three great-grandchildren, Noah Brown, Gabe Brown and Addyson Brown.

Service will be 11 a.m. today at Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh with Father Basil Keenan, Immaculate Conception, officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery.

Josie Kate Watkins
Josie Kate Watkins born Nov. 14, 2006, unexpectedly left this world to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007.

Every moment of her precious life will be cherished forever.

She was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Everett and Lois Watkins of Enid; Floyd Aubrey Salter, RosaBelle Salter Downs, Ralph Downs; and great-grandfather, Andrew Jerrold Lowe of Shawnee.

She is survived by her father and mother, Toby and Sara, and big sister, Ella Grace.

Service will be 2 p.m. today at Quail Springs Church of Christ, Oklahoma City.

A memorial fund has been established at Citizens Bank in the name of Josie Watkins.

Walker Funeral Service, Shawnee, is directing arrangements.

Edna Ida Abbott
Shawnee resident Edna Ida Abbott, 93, died Saturday, Feb. 5, in Shawnee.

She was born Jan. 6, 1912, near Verden and grew up on a farm north of Verden.

She was married June 1, 1947, to Charlie Abbott. They moved to Shawnee in 1948.

Abbott was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Shawnee. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, parents and siblings, Fred, Ernestine, Albert and Ada Mae.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Martin and Loetta Abbott of Shawnee and Marvin and Phyllis Abbott of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She also is survived by many other relatives and friends.

Service will be 10 a.m. today at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Shawnee with the Rev. Lewis Walters officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Iona Gertrude Andes
Shawnee resident Iona Gertrude Andes, 98, died Sunday, Feb. 6, in Shawnee.

She was born Sept. 10, 1906, in Apache, Indian Territory, toJasper Newton Cox and Mary Elizabeth Ledbetter-Cox.

She married Earl R. Andes Feb. 19, 1925. They lived in Asher and Anadarko before moving to Shawnee in 1977.

She was a homemaker and a longtime member of the Central Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, brothers and sisters.

Survivors include one brother, Jasper Cox of Frisco, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and friends, including her special friend, Mrs. Ann Cullen of Shawnee.

Service was Wednesday at Central Church of Christ with Dwyane Dennis officiating. Burial followed at Wanette Cemetery.

Gaskill Funeral Home directed arrangements.

Irene Lucille Burrus
Harrah resident Irene Lucille Burrus, 82, died Tuesday, Feb. 8.

Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Harrah First Baptist Church with Dr. Dan Campbell and Tony Sears officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery in Harrah.

Smith-Parks Funeral Service is directing arrangements.

Larry Dwight Clark
Shawnee resident Larry Dwight Clark, 57, died Saturday, Feb. 5, in Shawnee.

He was born Feb. 12, 1947, in Purcell to Bud Edward and Ozell (Linn) Clark.

He grew up in Noble where he attended school. He also had lived in Maryland for more than 20 years.

He served with the U.S. Marines during Vietnam.

Clark was a self-employed electrician.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bud Eugene Clark.

Survivors include two sons, Chad Clark of Shawnee and Lee Clark of Maryland; daughter, Ricci Clark of Maryland; brothers, Charles, Virgil, S.L., Billy Ray and Carl Clark; sisters, Lagretta Maxwell, Priscilla Jennings, Judy Fox and Anita Tucker and five grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. today at Byars Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.

Service was held Friday, Feb. 9, at Quail Springs Church of Christ, Oklahoma City.

Carolyn Dean Davisson
Seminole resident Carolyn Dean Davisson, 67, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, at Seminole Municipal Hospital after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, at First United Methodist Church in Seminole.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to First United Methodist Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 1314, Seminole, OK 74868 or to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or www.cancer.org.

Chrystal Irene Walker
Davenport resident Chrystal Irene Walker, 95, died Friday, Feb. 9, in Stroud.

Service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Davenport Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Mitchell officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Chapel in Stroud.

Grace M. Williams
Seminole resident Grace M. Williams died Thursday, Feb. 8, in Seminole at the age of 94.

Service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Tom Tripp and Chris Stinnett officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery north of Seminole.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen funeral Home in Seminole.

Wendy S. Hansen
Wendy S. Hansen, 63, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, in Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City.

She was born Feb. 10, 1943, in Nashville, Tenn., to Cecil and Betty Jane (Cope)Wilkins.

Wendy grew up in Fort Smith, Ark., where her mother had a large dance studio.

She moved to Oklahoma City graduating from John Marshall High School and attended Arkansas Tech and Oklahoma City University.

She was a medical secretary, a real estate agent and later community education coordinator in Shawnee where her husband was in the private practice of medicine. In 1985 the family moved to Stillwater where she lived until the time of death.

She placed the raising of her children above all else and was very active in school events and education matters in addition to musical and dance programs during the time they were still at home. She and her great smile and loving ways will be greatly missed.

Wendy leaves behind her husband, Thomas; children, Jennifer Norton and Eric Hansen; her sister, Doran Bowers; two grandchildren, Jenna and Trey Norton; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at Salem Lutheran Church at Elm and Duck streets in Stillwater.

Service is under the direction of Palmer-Marler-Carberry Funeral Home in Stillwater.
