Bryce

Owen Paul Bryce went home to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer on Nov. 6, 2003.

A funeral service for Bryce will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003 at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Burr officiating. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

He was born Sep. 3, 1938 in Altus to Owen Preston and Mozelle Bryce. He attended Altus Public Schools, and graduated from Altus Junior College in 1959. He served in the National Guard for six years where he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant.

Bryce worked for Hodges Trucking Company in Oklahoma City where he met his wife, Carol. They were married Aug. 31, 1968. They returned to Altus in 1975 where he was a partner in farming with his father. Bryce then worked for Yates Implement Company for 13 1/2 years. He attended Southwest Technology Center to become a restorative therapy assistant. After receiving his state certification, he worked for English Village Manor Nursing Home for several years. He then worked at Plantation Village Nursing Home until the time of his death. He believed his job was his true calling in life. This was evident by his many friends and colleagues.

He was preceded in death by his father, Owen Preston Bryce and his grandparents. Survivors include his wife Carol; one daughter, Bettilou Stover and her husband, Chas, of Newcastle; two sons, Bobby Bryce and his fianc/', Yolanda Cardona, of Arlington, Texas and Preston Bryce and his wife, Amanda, of Moore; one sister, Linda Bryce Wiginton and her husband, Larry, of Altus and his mother, Mozelle Bryce, of Altus; four grandchildren, Laura Beth Stover, Robert Dylan Bryce, Brandon Kirby Bryce and Charley Bryce Stover and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

His outgoing personality and wonderful sense of humor made Paul a friend to everyone. He will be missed by his family and many friends. His motto for life was "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" and he did this lovingly and exceedingly well.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Jackson County Hospice. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7 at Kincannon Funeral Home.

Sullivan

Frank A. Sullivan, 93, of Altus died Nov. 5, 2003 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Services are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus. Graveside services will be held Nov. 7, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Altus City Cemetery.

Sullivan was born on Feb. 22, 1910 in Kingston to his late parents, Joe and Myra (Kincade) Sullivan. Frank was united in marriage to Jewel Lynn in October 1931 in Madill. Two children were born to this union. Frank was a farmer in the Tipton area for many years.

Sullivan was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, son, Herman Sullivan and grandson Ronald Sullivan.

He is survived by his children, Margie Behne of Altus and Carrol Dean Sullivan of Orange Grove, Texas, three grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Lanterman

Oleta Lanterman, 82, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003 at the English Village Manor in Altus. She was born May 3, 1921, in Denison, Texas to Cloid Otis and Mattie Lee (Norris) Barnes. Oleta grew up in Hobart and Amarillo, moving to Tucson, Arizona in 1948. Oleta moved back to Hobart in 1975. She was a beautician and homemaker. She married Royce Lanterman Oct. 1, 1988. He preceded her in death Sept. 30, 1998. Oleta moved to Altus in 2001.

Survivors include: daughter, Altha Pauline and husband, Fred Baker, Altus; one son, Donald Alvin Griggs, Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Lonny, Fred, Jason, Daniel, Joy, Christie and Brent; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jennie Crawford, Amarillo, Texas and Margie Aistrup, Liberal, Kan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Royce, four brothers, Thornton, Sanford, Shannon and George Barnes and two sisters, Levita and Myrtle Jo.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003 at Hobart Rose Cemetery in Hobart with Fred W. Baker Jr. officiating.

Interment will follow in the Hobart Rose Cemetery under the direction of Hackney-Gish Funeral Home in Hobart.

Moser

Funeral service for Kenneth L. "Smokey" Moser, 71, of Mentone, Calif. formerly of Frederick, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003, at the Gray Gish Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Vernon Floyd, pastor and the Rev. Brent Morey, associate pastor, Bible Baptist Church, in Frederick, officiating.

Moser died Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, in Mentone, Calif., in a nursing care facility. Burial will be at Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gray Gish Funeral Home.

He was born on January 5, 1932 to Ernest Walter and Grace Lee (Basinger) Moser, in Jimitown. They moved to Snyder where Smokey attended school. He later attended Frederick Schools, where he graduated high school in 1950. While in school at Snyder and Frederick, he enjoyed playing football. He married Patsy Jo Hair in Davidson. He managed the Hawkins Texaco in Frederick for several years. He was employed by Brantley Manufacturing Inc. as a machinist for 18 years, before retiring in 1989, due to some physical concerns. He loved football and was a member of the Frederick Quarterback Club. He attended the Bible Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and Jean Wirt, special friend and companion for more than 25 years, on Nov. 2, 1999.

He is survived by three sons: Greg Moser, and his wife, Gae, of Wildomar, Calif.; Rodger Wirt, of Frederick, and Ricky Clayton, and his wife, Kathy, of Madill; two daughters: Glenda Cox, and her husband, Kevin, of Grove, and Lisa Wirt, of Frederick; eight grandchildren: Sean, Aaron, Bobby, Joshua, Zachery, Jennifer, Jake and Chris; and one great grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Oklahoma Chapter, 6465 South Yale, Suite 206, Tulsa, OK 74136-7804, and the American Cancer Society, 1305 W. Gore Blvd., Lawton, OK 73501, in loving memory of Smokey Moser.

Jackson

Lena Audrey Jackson, 91, of Hollis, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003, at Harmon Memorial Hospital in Hollis.

Lena was born Oct. 9, 1912, in Harmon County to Ralph S. and Ivy (Mizner) Hudson. She married Q.D. Jackson Oct. 26, 1930, in the Dryden Community. Lena was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hollis.

Lena is survived by three children, Gerald Jackson and his wife Bonnie, of Marshall, Texas, Larry Jackson and his wife Ginger of Amarillo, Texas, and Pam Coupland and her husband Bill, of Aledo, Texas; one sister, Nadine Birchfield of Dodson, Texas; one brother, Albert, Hudson of Ruidoso, N.M.; 11 grandchildren, Kenny Jackson, Karen Coomes, Kathryn Rath, Debbie Myers, John Paul Jackson, Christopher Jackson, Gregory Jackson, Joe Brett Jackson, Craig Coupland, Michael Coupland, and Kevin Coupland, and nine great-grandchildren.

Lena was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Q.D. Jackson, one son, Kenneth Ray Jackson, one grandson, Brian Jackson and two brothers.

Funeral services will held at 10 a.m. Thursday Nov. 6, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in Hollis with the Rev. Gary Paul Baird officiating. Internment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Hollis under the direction of Patterson Greer Funeral Home.

Sullivan

Frank A. Sullivan died Wednesday Nov. 5, 2003 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Services are pending with Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Monks

Ola Monks, 65, died Wednesday, October 29, 2003 at Southwestern Medical Hospital in Lawton.

Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003 at the Salvation Army Church in Altus. Graveside Services will be at Martha Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Ola was born May 10, 1938 in Spiro. She married Kenneth James Monks in 1955, at McCurtian, then moved to Grants, N.M.

Survivors include: one son, Kenneth J. Monks Jr.; daughter, Faye Frysinger of Snyder; one granddaughter, Stacy Frysinger of Snyder; grandsons, Jeremie Monks of Mangum, Kenneth, Zackery, Daniel and Jeremiah Monks, all of South Carolina; three great grandchildren; one brother, Bobby R. Capehart of Mangum; sisters, Rachel Phillips of Ft. Worth, Texas and Shirley Thompson of Mangum; and many nieces and nephews.

Ola is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth James Monks in 1965, mother Leona Capehart and father J. H. Capehart; brothers, Billy Gean and Alvie Lee Capehart and one sister, Vickie Hood.

Mullins

Dorothy Marie Mullins, age 79, of Mangum, passed away Nov. 3, 2003 at her home. Services in Calif. will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements are with Greer Funeral Home in Mangum.

Mullins was born Dec. 1, 1923 at West Burlington, Iowa to parents Charles Keever and Iva Kent-Rathz Keever. She grew up in Iowa and was united in marriage to James Mullins on Apr. 17, 1944 at Middletwon, Iowa. They enjoyed many years of marriage. Mullins had lived in Mangum for one year after moving from Lodi, Calif. She was a member of the Non-Denominational Church and a collector of commemorative plates and dolls.

She especially enjoyed collecting objects with a native american theme. Mullins also had a gift for working with children. After raising her own family, she spent much of her time and energy working with handicapped children.

Mullins was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents; five brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her children, Sherry D. Mitchell and husband, Ed, of Seaside, Calif., Richard Mullins and wife, Linda, of Fountain Hills, Ariz., Sonja K. Lindsey and husband, Clinton, of Mangum, Janis D. Belmodis and husband, Abe, of Mangum; sisters Thelma "Jean" Graham of Iowa, Mary Decker and husband, Richard, of Memphis, Mo.; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Rester

Hazel Rester, 87, Altus died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003 in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with John Lingle officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Hazel was born July 18, 1916 in Dunn, La. to Augusta and Nora (White) Best. She attended school in Baskin, La. She married Emanual O'Con Rester in April of 1935 in Dunn, La.

Ms. Rester worked as a seamstress with the Kelwood Company until her retirement. In her retirement years, Hazel enjoyed sewing, cooking, music, reading, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Altus.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emanual; a son, Ronald O'Con Rester; her parents, and a brother, James Best.

Hazel is survived by her children Betty Katherine Allen and husband Arvis and Stanley Bruce Rester and wife Kathy, all of Altus; a brother, Henry Best of West Monroe, La.; six grandchildren, Johnette Wheeler, Diana Litton, John Whitten Jr., Kenneth Hammett, Matthew Rester, and Holly Rester Becerra; eight great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Kincannon Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Roberts

Wanda (Weber) Roberts, 71, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2003 at her home in Altus. A celebration service is set for 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in Altus with Dr. Jeff Moore and Brother Keith Wiginton officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery.

Roberts was born April 7, 1932 to J P. and Lena Mae Weber in Crandall, Ga. The Webers moved to Olustee in 1936 where they established their family farm and Wanda learned about hard work, humility and her love for God.

Roberts worked at Altus United Supermarkets in the 1960s and later was a loan officer for Red River Credit Union. She and Jack Roberts were married in 1971. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she and husband Jack taught Sunday School together for many years.

In her retirement years, Roberts' passion was her work as a volunteer Christian counselor where she was allowed to help many people in need. She also loved gardening, writing and spending time with her family.

Her parents and two brothers Gene Weber and Kenneth Weber preceded Wanda in death.

She is survived by her husband, Jack; daughter, Beverly Jackson and husband, Mike, of Edmond; son Keith Kirby and wife, Patty, of Altus; stepson Lowell Roberts; sister Gerry Thompson and husband, Joe, of Altus; brother Larry Weber and wife, Yulonda, of McAlester; brother Bruce Weber and Sharon of Olustee; grandchildren, Kevin Kirby and wife, Kerri, Jennifer Pickett and husband, Brad, Buckey Hunter, Brad Kirby, Nikki Robbins and husband, Mark, and Shelby Jackson; and five great-grandchildren. Also, special friends Gail Allen, Bernice Barela and Sue Howland who made it possible for Wanda and Jack to live in their home during her lengthy illness.

Friends, who wish to make memorials in Roberts' name in lieu of flowers, may donate to First Baptist Church Women's Ministries or a charity of their choice.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at Kincannon Funeral Home.
