Johnson

Bill Johnson, 65, passed away Friday night in Hollis. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Hollis.

Bill had been a firefighter for over 20 years, and also served as fire chief. He is also former manager of the Harmon County Co-op. Services will be arraigned by Stewert Funeral Service in Hollis.

Heap

Funeral service for Jerry Bob Heap, 57, of Frederick, will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2003, at the First Christian Church, Frederick, with the Rev. Truman Ferguson, Anadarko First Christian Church minister, and the Rev. Ish Engle, Frederick First Christian Church.

Heap died Friday, Oct., 31, 2003, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Burial will be in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery, Frederick, under the direction of Gray Gish Funeral Home, Frederick.

He was born Saturday, June 22, 1946, in Altus, to Ralph Warren and Edna Lee (Brown) Heap. Jerry grew up and attended Frederick schools, graduating from Frederick High School in 1964. During school, Jerry was active in Boy Scouts of America, where he received the Eagle Scout Award, and Future Farmers of America, where he received the State Farmer Award. He attended the University of Oklahoma, Southwestern Oklahoma State College and Cameron. He was united in marriage to Clydia Lee Cottrell on August 26, 1965, in Frederick. They were married until 1980. He joined his father's car dealership, Frederick Motor Company (Chrysler), as a salesman in 1967, and later became the owner. He also was engaged in farming and ranching. More recently, Jerry traveled throughout the northeastern United States buying and selling auto parts for classic auto restoration. He had been a member of the Frederick Country Club, Frederick Jaycees, where he was a Jaycee of the Year Award recipient, and the First Christian Church, where he had served as a Deacon. Also, Jerry had served as a City of Frederick councilman of Ward 4 from 1979 to 1983.

He is survived by two sons: Chad Heap, of Washington, D.C., and James Heap, and his wife, Bridget, of Frederick; parents, Ralph and Edna Heap, of Frederick; sister, Dianne Allen, and her husband, Bobby, of Benbrook, Texas; brother, Roger Heap and his wife, Nancy, of Frederick; three grandchildren, Justin, Colt, and Sadie; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; his friend and companion, Carol Gauldin, of Vernon, Texas and Lucky.

Memorial contributions can be made to the First Christian Church, 500 N. 15the Street, Frederick, OK 73542, or the American Cancer Society, 1305 W. Gore Blvd., Lawton, OK 73501, in loving memory of Jerry Heap.

Rester

Hazel Rester, 87, of Altus, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral Services are pending with Kincannon Funeral Home.

Handler

Mary Helen Hander, 86, a longtime resident of Wichita Falls, died in Altus on Wednesday, April 21, 2004. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 24, 2004, in Crestview Mausoleum Chapel in Wichita Falls, Texas, with Roger Deerinwater, pastor of First Baptist Church in Archer City officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Hander was born July 19, 1917, to Mac D. and Myrta Owen Bybee in Childress, Texas. She married Dr. Raymond T. Hander on July 19, 1941, in Childress and he preceded her in death in 1988. Mrs. Hander was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a charter member of the Rider Raider's Mothers Club and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Wichita Falls. She was an avid golfer and sports fan and was a devoted follower of the Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Cowboys. Family and friends will always remember Hander for her little caps that she loved to wear.

Hander is survived by four children, Raymonda Almand and husband Lyndon of Brenham, Texas, Jamie (Speedy) Smith and husband Geral of Trinchera, Colo., Richard Hander and Vickie Hall of Little Elm, Texas, and Jyl Woodress and husband Von of Altus; sisters-in-law, Laverne Terrell of Belton, Texas, Juanita H. Roberts of Rusk, Texas, and Juanita Nash Hander of Ryan; brother-in-law, Dr. Fred J. Hander and wife Helen of Fort Smith, Ark., and 10 grandchildren.

Teressa Kelly, Matthew Almand, Mary B. Murphy, David Smith, Jonnalea Tortorelli, Joel Smith, Melissa Smith, Jason Hander, Lex Hander and Bray Woodress; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Texas A&M University Foundation, Dr. Raymond T. Hander Scholarship, Veterinary School, College Station, Texas, 77802 or to First United Methodist Church.

Ray

Blonnie Ray, 85, of Altus, died Thursday, April 22, at Plantation Village Assisted Living. Services are pending with Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Wrabel

Myrna Wrabel, 65, of Altus, died Saturday, April 17, 2004, at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Madison Clinton officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Tributes may be made at www.lowell-tims.com.

Wrabel was born Feb. 20, 1939, to Grady and Beulah (Drury) Parker. She was a lifetime resident of Altus and was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church. She played piano for the church and enjoyed reading.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Rhonda Price; and one brother, Wilton Parker.

She is lovingly survived by her parents, Grady and Beulah Parker of Altus; three sons, Danny Thompson and wife Angela of Altus, Bill Cook and wife Suzanne of Houston, and James Buterbaugh and wife Terri of Arlington, Texas; one daughter, Janet Allen and husband Dave of Austin, Texas; one stepson, David Buterbaugh of Altus; one stepdaughter, Roberta Enright of Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

McElroy

Martha Ann McElroy, 69, died Monday, April 19, 2004, at her home in Fort Worth, Texas. Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the Altus City Cemetery with the Rev. Eugene Foreman officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

McElroy was born Nov. 14, 1934, in Duke to Verble and Salley (Roberts) McElroy. She lived for many years in Duke, where she was a member of the Baptist Church. She loved helping in the kitchen and enjoyed dining out. She liked to watch soaps on television and sit in the yard watching the birds.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mary Flores.

She is lovingly survived by one sister, Veatrice Capps and husband Clyde of Quinlen, Texas; three nephews, Mike Flores and wife Toni of Ft. Worth, Texas, Gary Anderson of Denver, Colo., and Larry Anderson of Strasburg, Colo.; three nieces, Mary Ann Utz and husband Jonathan of Madison, Wis., Judy Capps and Ann Capps; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Chastain

Reola M. Chastain, 77, of Warren, died Monday, April 19, 2004, at her home. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, April 23, 2004 at the Warren Church of Christ with Ardron Hinton officiating. Burial will follow services at the Warren Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

She was born May 2, 1926, in Elmwood to Alvin and Nancy (Fronk) Cates. She graduated from Beaver High School where she was a member of the 4-H Club. She married C.H. Chastain on Dec. 21, 1946, in Liberal, Kan. To this union, five sons were born. They moved to Woodward to raise their family. She worked for the Northwest Electric Coop in Woodward before moving to the Warren homestead in 1986. She worked diligently as a homemaker and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved raising ostriches at the family farm. She enjoyed quilting and traveling with her husband. She was a member of the Warren Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Nancy Cates; a son, Carl Lyn Chastain; and her nephew, Will Cates.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, C.H. Chastain of the home; four sons, Dwan Chastain of Woodward, Rex Chastain and wife Tammie of Arlington, Texas, John Craig Chastain and wife Peggy of Evansville, Ind. and Mark Chastain of Norman; three brothers, Dale Cates and wife, Chick of Beaver, Bob Cates and wife, Jimmy of northeast N.M. and Gary Cates of Elmwood; a granddaughter, Erin Chastain Harris and husband Chris of Sachse, Texas; and host of friends.

In lieu of flowers, the Chastain family suggests memorials be made in Reola's name to the Warren Cemetery Fund.

The Chastain family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday in the Family Gathering Room at Kincannon Funeral Home.

McElroy

Martha Ann McElroy, 69, died Monday, April 19, 2004 at her residence in Texas.

She was born Nov. 14, 1934 to Verbal and Salley (Roberts) McElroy.

Martha Loved helping in the kitchen, loved eating out, watching soap operas and being outside watching the birds.

She is survived by one sister, Veatrice Cupps and husband Clyde of Texas and a nephew, Mike Flores and wife Toni of Fort, Worth, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Altus City Cemetery, under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Naeher

Stephan George Naeher, 90, died Friday, April, 16, 2004 in Tomball, Texas. Funeral Mass is scheduled for Friday, April 23, 2004, at noon at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father Joseph Arledge officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

He was born Jan. 16, 1914 in Oklahoma City to John Andrew Naeher and Laurie Elvie (Brown) Naeher.

He married Pearl Johnston on Jan. 18, 1936 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oklahoma City. She died Jan. 1, 1996.

He worked for HJ Heinz Company as office manager for 42 years, retiring in 1974. Following his retirement he moved to Altus.

He enjoyed golfing, bowling and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Prince of Peace Catholic Church.

He is survived by three sons, John Naeher and wife Clara of Spring, Texas, Michael Naeher and wife Patsy of Oklahoma City and Patrick Naeher of Albuquerque, N.M.; one son-in-law, Jerry Holland of Altus; a sister, Francis Shultz of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Pearl; one daughter, Dottie Holland; two brothers, Thomas John Naeher and John Raymond Naeher.

A prayer Vigil and Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 22, 2004, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church.

Booker

D.L. Booker, 80, of Connell, Wash., died Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake, Wash.

He was born in Jackson County on January 13, 1924 to William R and Lillian Rosa (Richardson) Booker. He was raised and educated in Jackson County.

He left school in 1943 and joined the Army where he served in General Patton's Third Army, 7th Battalion, 8th Armored Division. He was in one of 46 divisions that became entwined in the Battle of the Bulge. He received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for his part in that battle. He was discharged in 1946. He returned to Oklahoma where he drove a milk run until 1950 when he rented some land and grew cotton. That year he met Ina Colleen Churchwell. They were married on January 4, 1951 in Mangum. In 1956, He drew a farm unit near Warden. They moved onto the land the next year and then in 1958 they moved to Mesa. During this time he attended auctioneer school in Fort Smith, Ark. He returned to Mesa and over time worked in the auction business and farmed corn, hay, potatoes and raised livestock.

He enjoyed selling livestock and was known all over the Northwest. In the early 1970s He retired as a Livestock auctioneer to pursue another passion, buying cattle. He bought cattle by orders from all over the Northwest. In 1980, Booker Auction was formed with his sons. He enjoyed just being at the auction, drinking coffee, sharing his knowledge, renewing friendships and talking to anyone who would listen. He was entered into the Auctioneers Hall of Fame in 2002. In later years his favorite time was spent with his grandchildren. He had also wanted to be a pilot, so as a young man he earned his pilot's license and over the next years owned two planes. He will be remembered fondly by many for making his daily rounds of fellowship through Othello. He will also be remembered as a tough, sometimes gruff man of great integrity. His word and a handshake were the best contract that he could make. His generosity was legendary: picking up hitchhikers, feeding them and putting them on a bus home, or writing a check to someone down on their luck, he felt everyone needed a break.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Colleen of Connell, Wash.; four sons and daughters-in-law, Merle and Judy Booker of Connell, Quinton and Angie Booker of Othello, Burl and Kara Booker of Connell and Butch and Jennifer Booker of Colfax; six brothers, Lavon of California, Don R. of Texas, Marlan and Earl of Oklahoma, Kenneth of Missouri and Jimmy of Nevada; a sister Norma Blanton of Arkansas; and 12 grandchildren.

A time for final visitation was held at Stevens Funeral Chapel in Othello from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday March 22, 2004.

A celebration of his life was held at the Othello Church of the Nazarene, Tuesday March 23, 2004 at 11 a.m. with burial at Bess Hampton Memorial Gardens.

Memorials are suggested to the Columbia Basin Jr. Livestock Assoc. in Connell, WA.
