Charles Henry Smith
Shawnee resident Charles "Chuck" Henry Smith died Thursday, April 12, in Shawnee at the age of 75.

He was born Oct. 26, 1931, in Woburn, Mass., to Francis Henry and Mildred Linnea Smith.

Chuck attended North Quincy High School, Quincy, Mass.

He married Rhoda Loudella Smith, who preceded him in death, and later married Dee Smith.

He retired as Chief Petty Officer from the U. S. Navy after serving 22 years. He was a meteorologist from 1949 to 1971. In 1996 he retired from Worthington Pump as a buyer.

Chuck was a Mason and a Shriner. The highlights of his life were his grandkids, gardening, fishing and he was an active weather enthusiast.

Also preceding him in death was a grandchild, Zachary,

Survivors include his wife, Dee Smith; daughters, Linda Billmeier and her husband, Rudy, and Shirley Conrad; sons, Darrell Smith and his wife, Angela Smith, and Clifford Smith and his wife, Tracy; step-son, Wes Beck and his wife, Terre; step-daughters, Delinda Curtis and her husband, Burky, Karen Ware and her husband, Tom, and Annette Woods and her husband, Brian; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with Kris Steele officiating. Burial will be in Quincy, Mass.

Thelma Irene Clement
Tecumseh resident Thelma Irene Clement, 94, died Wednesday, April 11, at Sunset Estates.

Irene was born Oct. 15, 1912, to Eligah Martin and Ida Mae (Ward) Wright in Tribbey Okla. She was the third of 12 children to be born.

On Sept. 28, 1930, she married Churchill Monroe Clement in Macomb. They moved to California in 1942 where she worked in the shipyards as a welder in Richmond. She also worked in farming cotton, potatoes, grapes and peaches. Irene loved to garden, and she loved her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Churchill Monroe Clement in March of 1972; four brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include her children, Harold Dean Clement and wife, Martha, of Mounds, Carol Bonicelli and husband, Pete, of Shawnee; siblings, Grant Wright of Oklahoma City, Bernice Menser of Livermore, Calif., Wanda Reed of New Sharon, Iowa, Gloria Jean Newell of Port Archer, Wash; 11 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, other family members and friends.

Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the excellent staff and numerous friends at Sunset Estates, as well as the caring staff of Angelic Hospice.

Laura Frieda Anna Kirch Zito
Laura Frieda Anna Krich Zito, 96, of Wildwood Place, Frankfort, Ky., died Monday, April 9, at the Hospice Care Center in Lexington, Ky.

She was born Feb. 2, 1911, to the late Annie M. and Herman Kirch in Harrah.

Her husband, John Zito, preceded her in death in 2003. In the later years of her life, she was cared for by nieces Connie Farugia, and Donna Cragun. Mrs. Zito had lived in Frankfort with her niece Carol Saenger since 2004.

Laura was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ogden, Utah, and had attended First United Methodist Church in Frankfort. She also was a former member and officer of the Union Pacific Rail Road Women's Auxiliary. There are many people who knew her as "Aunt Laura", including nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, family and friends in Utah, Oklahoma, and Kentucky. Mrs. Zito retired after many years of faithful service from Sears in Ogden, Utah.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Kirch and Herbert Kirch.

Survivors include one sister, Dora Blanken of Frankfort; one brother, Robert Kirch of Ogden; nieces, Carol Saenger of Frankfort and Connie Farugia of Tucson, Ariz.

Memorial services and burial will be at conducted at a later date in Roy, Utah. There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are under the direction of LeCompte-Johnson-Taylor Funeral Home, 1725 Louisville Road, Frankfort, KY 40601.

John Edward Gormley
Claremore resident John Edward Gormley died Wednesday, April 11, at the age of 82.

Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Parks Brothers Chapel.

Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Chandler, is directing arrangements.

Robert Howard Jones
Konawa area resident Robert Howard Jones died Tuesday, April 10, at VA Medical Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 64.

Graveside service with full military honors will be 10 a.m. today at Vamoosa Cemetery, outside of Konawa, with Pastor Pam Shirk officiating.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.

Hannah Neely
Shawnee resident Hannah Neely, 91, died Friday, April 13, at her residence.

Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Resthaven Funeral Home.

Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Chapel of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Ernest Marion Bartosh
Ernest Marion Bartosh of Prague died Monday in Fletcher at the age of 67.

He was born Nov. 8, 1935, in Prague to Ernest and Marie (Obsivac) Bartosh and lived in the Prague area his entire life. He graduated from Prague High School and attended college at St. Gregory's in Shawnee and also in Chicago, Ill.

He was a farmer and rancher and was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Prague.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 until 1961.

His father, Ernest Bartosh, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his mother, Marie Bartosh of Prague; sons and daughters-in-law, Ernest and Maureen Bartosh, Fredericksburg, Va., and Keith and Dawn Bartosh, Oklahoma City; daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Terry Carroll, Fletcher; granddaughters, Spencer Grace Keady, Molly Renee Bartosh, Madison Marie Bartosh, Cortney Nicole Carroll and Kylie Lynn Carroll; brothers, David D. Bartosh and Lee Roy Bartosh, both of Prague, and Carl Leon Bartosh, Royal Oak, Mich.; and sisters, Maria Cecilia King, Kansas City, Mo., and Marguerita Ann Warren, Prague.

A prayer service will be 6 p.m. Wednesday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with the Rev. Adrian Vorderlandwehr, O.S.B., officiating. Burial will be at Catholic Cemetery in Prague.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society for Pancreatic Cancer Research, American Cancer Society Heartland Division, 8400 Silver Crossing, Oklahoma City OK 73132.

Doris Aliene Edgin
Doris Aliene (Kellogg) Edgin, 83, of Tecumseh died Monday.

She was born Feb. 15, 1920, in Tecumseh to Louie and Gillie (Cole) Kellogg.

She was a 1939 graduate of Tecumseh High School.

Along with her husband, she had lived in Norway, Scotland, Italy, England, Germany and South America. While in the Oklahoma drilling industry, they had also lived in Shawnee, Marietta, Wilburton and Pottawatomie County.

Edgin had been a resident of Tecumseh since 1982.

On Jan. 5, 1946, she married Max Krouch Edgin in Tecumseh. He preceded her in death on Oct. 14, 1994.

She was a homemaker

Edgin was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Sorosis Study Club and the Tecumseh High School Alumni Association.

She also was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include one son, James Edgin of Tecumseh; one sister, Dorothy Lee Crumrine of Fort Worth, Texas; one brother, L. E. Kellogg Jr. of Detroit; two grandchildren, Max Edgin of Los Angeles, and Tara and Brandon Johnson of Shawnee; and many other family and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tracy Schumpert officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Zelta Marie Hightower
Longtime Davenport resident Zelta Marie Hightower, 83, died Wednesday, April 13, in Oklahoma City.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church, Davenport, with the Rev. Mike Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Davenport Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.

Elmer Fred Ferguson
Seminole resident Elmer Fred Ferguson, 95, died Wednesday, April 13, at Maple Lawn Manor in Hydro.

Service will be 4 p.m. today at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Roy Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Wolf Cemetery in Seminole County under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
