Robert Michael "Mike" Kahanek
Robert Michael "Mike" Kahanek, 56, died Thursday, April 14, in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Mike was born July 17, 1948 in Prague to Cye Al and Mary Pat (Teape) Kahanek.

He graduated from Prague High School in 1966. He attended the University of Central Oklahoma and graduated from the University of Oklahoma.

On Oct. 6, 1987, he married Carol Foster in Hanalei, Hawaii. They made their home in Scottsdale. He was employed by Pearson Education.

He is survived by his wife, Carol, of Scottsdale; and his parents, Cye and Mary Pat Kahanek of Prague.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Dr. Warren Danskin officiating. Burial will follow at Prague Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service.

Edward Hugh Bordelon
Bowlegs resident Edward Hugh "Ed" Bordelon, 59, died Saturday, April 16, at Oklahoma Veterans Hospital, Talihina.

Service will be 10:30 a.m. today at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John May officiating. Burial will follow at Wolf Cemetery.

Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole is directing arrangements.

Ethel Sexton Turner
Former Shawnee resident Ethel Sexton Turner, 88, died Sunday, April 17, at her home in Round Rock, Texas.

Ethel was born Aug. 6, 1916, to Jess L. Danyeur and O. Beatrice (Cambell) Danyeur in Wewoka.

On Dec. 4, 1934, she married Ariel Sexton in Shawnee. She lived most of her life in Shawnee until she moved to Round Rock, Texas, in 1983. The were happily united until his passing on August 21, 1985.

Ethel was a member of the Round Rock Church of Christ. She was a very family oriented lady who loved her grandchildren, brothers and sister.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Walter Danyeur of Meeker.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Russ Meyer of Round Rock, Texas; three brothers, Leroy Welch and his wife, Pat, of Shawnee, Clifford Welch and his wife, Natalia, of Washington, Ind., and Troy Welch and his wife, Norma of Bowlegs; one sister, Viola Hopkins and her husband, Ivan, of Shawnee; two grandsons, Chas Meyer and his wife, Adrienne, of Abilene, Texas, and Nicholas Meyer of Round Rock, Texas; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation, 6465 S. Yale, Suite 206, Tulsa, OK 74136-7804.

Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Clifford Welch officiating.

Resthaven Funeral Home of Shawnee is directing arrangements.

Jerry Wayne Orr
Lifelong Edmond resident Jerry Wayne Orr, 58, died Sunday, April 17.

Orr was born Sept. 26, 1946, in Edmond to Everette Orr and Elsie (Keels) Orr.

He was reared and educated in Edmond. On Jan. 29, 1966, he married Barbara Baptiste.

Orr had worked as a construction foreman for Daurizio Acoustics. He enjoyed canoeing, fishing and doing silversmith work in his spare time.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Billy Orr.

Orr is survived by his wife, Barbara, of the home; son, D'Wayne Orr of Edmond; daughter, Misty Dawn McConnico of Shawnee; five grandchildren, Samantha Masquat, Jessica Haddock, Jordan Haddock, Josh Mathis and Rebecca Conteras; and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home.

Jimmie Yerby
Jimmie Yerby, 103, died Sunday, April 17, at Unity Health Center in Shawnee.

He was born Jan. 10, 1902, in Alvord, Texas, to John L. Yerby and Janie (Porter) Yerby.

He moved to Petrolia, Texas, in 1920 and moved to Oklahoma in 1929.

He was married to Perl Waters and later married Shorty Thompson in 1975.

Yerby was a member of the Oklahoma Centenarian Club and Northwest Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one wife, Pearl; one son, Glendel Yerby; two brothers, B.B. Yerby and Leslie Yerby; one sister, Ethel Mae Zimmerman; and one step-son, Floyd Thompson.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Northwest Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Ed Fox officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Gaskill Funeral Home of Shawnee.

Billy Joe Fisher
Shawnee resident Billy Joe Fisher, 68, died Monday, April 18, in Tecumseh.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Tecumseh Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Matthews and the Rev. Phil Thompson officiating.

Viewing will begin 9 a.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Frederick A. Kraeer
McLoud resident Frederick A. Kraeer, 79, died Saturday, April 16.

Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Asa Smith Memorial Chapel in Harrah.

Smith~Parks Funeral Service is directing arrangements.

Cathryn L. Waller
Spencer resident Cathryn L. Waller, 73, died Saturday, April 16, at Baptist Medical Center.

Memorial service will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the Good Shepard Lutheran Church at 700 N. Air Depot in Midwest City under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home of Oklahoma City.

Donna Lea (Doss) Wilson
Yukon resident Donna Lea (Doss) Wilson, 68, went to be with her lord and savior Friday, April 15.

Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at in the Church of Christ-South Yukon. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Oklahoma City under the direction of Yanda and Son Funeral Home in Yukon.

Edgar (Ed) N. Smalley
Stroud resident Edgar (Ed) N. Smalley, 80, died Saturday, April 16, in Oklahoma City.

Visitation will be today. Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Stroud with the Rev. Burl Mackey officiating. Burial will follow at Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service.

Kenneth G. Knox
Ken Knox, 80, survived World War II and the Korean War as an Air Force Staff Sergeant, but lost his fight for life at Shawnee Solara Hospital on Tuesday, April 17.

Ken, a Shawnee resident since 1981, was born in Oklahoma City on May 24, 1926. He was the son of Opal Eva Kelley Knox and Arrol Grady Knox of Goldsby, Okla., and Hartshorne, Okla.

A chance encounter at a Rainbow Girl's Pie Supper led to a 46-year marriage to Avonne Timblin Knox until her death in 1996.

After enlisting, using a little white lie at the age of 17, and being stationed in the Philippines, Japan and Korea, Ken returned to Oklahoma City as a decorated soldier. He went on to work for OG&E and retired as a Regional Electric Supervisor after 40 years of service. Ken loved people and the pranks he pulled on them, to tell funny stories, to laugh, Saturday trips to the park with a car full of kids that loved him, to attend his grandsons' sporting events, OU football and horseracing.

Ken was a member of Lions, Kiwanis, International Assoc. of Electricians, OG&E Pioneer Club, and the Draper Park Christian Church. His belief can best be described with a quote from his favorite poem "...Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there; I did not die."

Ken is survived by his daughters, Timmi Merritt and her husband, Rex, of Tulsa, Kellie Hobby and her husband, Richard, of Edmond; brother, Bruce Knox and his wife, Ann, of Oklahoma City; grandsons, Kyle Klein and his wife Leslie, Dr. Eric Klein, T.J. Hobby and his wife Pamela; great-grandchildren, Katy, Eli and Emma Klein; long-term caregiver, Silvia DeRemer; and his beloved fianc of nearly ten years, Ruth Reese of Shawnee.

Services to celebrate Ken's life will be held 2 p.m. Friday, at Vondel Smith Mortuary's South Colonial Chapel with burial following at Memorial Park Cem. Services are under the direction of Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary, 6934 S Western Ave, OKC.

Mildred Townsend Keller
Comfort, Texas, resident Mildred Townsend Keller, 90, died Monday, April 16, in Comfort.

She was born July 24, 1916, in Konawa to Irving Harrison and Ethel Rella (Bates) Townsend.

She attended Shawnee High School and college in Shawnee.

Mildred married Frank Dudley Keller Jr., who preceded her in death in 1970.

She worked as a homemaker and was a Methodist church member. She lived in Shawnee until 1941 and then moved to Crystal City, Texas.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Frank Dudley Keller Jr.

Survivors include her husband, Bill, of Comfort, Texas; daughter, Karen Busbee of Comfort, Texas; grandchildren, Richard Busbee and wife, Laurie, of Boerne, Texas, Amanda Busbee of San Antonio, Texas, and Melissa Busbee of New Braunfels of Texas; two sisters-in-law and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Fairview Cemetery with Dr. Bob Searl officiating.
