Nita N. Taylor
Former Chandler resident Nita N. Taylor, 89, died Saturday in Cushing.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Don Kindley of Guadalajara, Mexico; two grandchildren, one great-grandson, a sister, Vera Telford of Chandler; special friend, Bennie Reid of Cushing; and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at the memorial chapel of the Davis Funeral Home of Cushing with the Rev. Thom Chappelle officiating. Burial will follow at the Prague Cemetery.

Louis John Newton
Shawnee resident Louis John Newton, 69, died Monday at a local hospital.

Services are pending with Gaskill-Owens Funeral Home.

Evelyn O'Neal
Evelyn O'Neal, 75, of Tecumseh died Saturday in Tecumseh.

She was born Feb. 17, 1927, in Ashland, Okla., to Loyd W. and Velcie (Cagle) Roberts.

O'Neal was a 1945 graduate of Tecumseh High School and was a member of the Tecumseh High School Alumni Association.

She worked for Gibson's in Shawnee for more than 20 years.

She married Jimmie O' Neal on April 14, 1946, in Tecumseh. He preceded her in death on May 18, 2000.

O'Neal grew up on her parents farm in Bethel and lived in Tecumseh since her marriage.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Alene Bowlby.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, John and Vickie O'Neal of Seminole; three grandchildren and their spouses, Kirsten and Kimi Davis of Maui, Hawaii, Kendra and Randy Baird of Houston, Texas, and Fielding O'Neal of Seminole; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Loyd and Helen Roberts, and Leroy and Marilyn Roberts, all of Shawnee; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Pastor Marion Hadsell and Rev. Kirsten Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Bobby O. Wilson
Bobby O. Wilson, 73, of Sulphur died Thursday in Ardmore.

He was born on March 4, 1929, in Oklahoma City to Henry and Mary (Tolson) Wilson.

Wilson was a 1949 graduate of Tecumseh High School and was class president.

He was a manager of the meat departments with various supermarket chains, mainly in California.

Wilson was reared in Tecumseh and lived in California for several years, as well as Midwest City. He had lived in Sulphur for 15 years.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Kenney Russell of Tulsa; one son, David C. Wilson of Lakewood, Wash.; four grandchildren, Jack and Carolyn Whitehead, Christian Russell, Adam Russell and Alexis Page Russell; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be noon today at Black Cemetery in Pottawatomie County with the Rev. Sunny Stuart officiating. Services are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Johnny E. Lee
Johnny E. "Sandy" Lee, 41, of Paden, Okla., died Saturday in Oklahoma City.

Survivors include his wife, Kristina Lee of Paden, Okla.; one son, John Tyler Lee of Paden; two daughters, Tara Dawn Lee of Moore and Felisha Kaye Lee of Paden; his parents, Gene and Adabell Lee of Paden; five brothers, Howard Self of Shawnee, Jackie Lee of Levelland, Texas, Tunney Lee of Okemah, Sherdel Lee of Paden, and Anthony Lee of Paden; six sisters, Vickey Middleton of Prague, Ada Johnson, Kathy Smock, and Clonda Rogers, Mickey White and Shay Lee, all of Paden.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at the Paden Holiness Church with the 1Rev. Keith Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Dale Cemetery in Paden. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague.

Charla Sue Snyder
Former Seminole resident Charla Sue Snyder, 63, of Oklahoma City, died Wednesday, April 14, at an Oklahoma City hospital.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. today at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.

Vinita Richards
Richardson, Texas, resident Vinita Richards, 87, died Wednesday, April 20, at a Texas hospital.

Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Resthaven Funeral Home with Pastor Rene Ross officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Elaine Masingill
Garnett, Kan., resident Elaine Masingill, 77, died Thursday, April 21, at her hime in Garnett.

Service will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Anne Loewe officiating. Visitation will follow the service at United Brethren Church in Garnett.

Virginia L. Benedix
Virginia L. Benedix died Saturday, April 23, in Harrah at the age of 93.

Rosary will be 7 p.m. Monday at St. Teresa's Catholic Church with wake following. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Alan Loth officiating. Burial will be at St. Teresa's Cemetery under the direction of Smith-Parks Funeral Service of Harrah.

James H. Hall
Seminole resident James H. Hall, 85, died Thursday, April 21, at his home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Seminole Church of Christ with Chris Stinnett officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.

Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole is directing arrangements.

Frank A. Kasparek
Konawa resident Frank A. Kasparek, 88, died Thursday, April 21, at a McAlester hospital.

Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Konawa Cemetery with Richard Winters officiating. Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa is directing arrangements.

Selwyn George Goss
Selwyn George Goss of Bethel Acres died Saturday, April 23, in a local hospital. He was 69.

Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Liberty Baptist Church with Bill Matthews and Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Lenna, Okla., Cemetery under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Shawnee.

Max Kenner Schumake
The Rev. Dr. Max Kenner Schumake of Shawnee, 69, died Friday, April 22, at his home.

Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Walker Funeral Chapel, with committal service at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Greenwood Cemetery in Fort Worth, Texas.

Harvey J. Pollock
Oklahoma City resident Harvey J. Pollock, 75, died Saturday, April 23, in Oklahoma City.

Services are pending and will be announced by Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

George W. Hess Jr.
Shawnee resident George W. "Bill" Hess Jr., died Monday, April 23, in an Oklahoma City hospital.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Old Dale High School Gymnasium with Dr. Montie Campbell, the Rev. Doug Parker and the Rev. Lee Witt officiating. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery.

Arrangements under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Rev. Dr. Maxie Kenner Shumake
Shawnee resident the Rev. Dr. Maxie Kenner Shumake, 69, died Friday, April 22, in Shawnee.

He was born Nov. 17, 1935, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Max W. and Fern Marie Shumake.

Shumake graduated from Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth, Texas. He received his bachelor of science degree in business from TCU in Fort Worth. He was a life insurance agent and CEO for Southwest Capital, a business owned by the Shumake family. In 1983 he entered Austin Theological Seminary and earned a masters of divinity in 1985. He earned his doctorate from Dubuque Seminary of Iowa in 1989. Max served the United Presbyterian Church in Shawnee for 11 years before his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1961.

On June 12, 1980, he married Seila Ingram.

He was a member of the Rotary Club and the American Photographic Society. He was an avid photographer. Max competed and won many International Photo Salon competitions and was recognized as Best in Monochrome Photography. Max also was an accomplished jazz musician and played with various bands including the Ray Charles Band,

Shumake is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila; two daughters, Adriana and Michelle; son, Max; four grandchildren, Stephanie Shumake, Cameron Shumake, Andrew Shumake and Brooke.

Service will be 2 p.m. today at the chapel of Walker Funeral Service with the Dr. Rockford Johnson and Elder Carolyn Stephens officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Greenwood Cemetery in Fort Worth, Texas, under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.
