James Edgar "ED" Clouse
Shawnee resident James Edgar "ED" Clouse, 83, died Wednesday, June 6, at Golden Rule Nursing Home.

He was born Aug. 6, 1923, in Garber, Okla., to James "Jack" Haskall Clouse and Theo Rebecca Reno.

Ed was married Aug. 1, 1943, to Oniece Clouse.

He served in the U.S. Army and was part of the D-Day invasion on Normandy beach. He enjoyed being a caretaker of his family and friends, wood working, and building.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Oniece Clouse; four brothers and one sister.

Survivors include his children, Sandy Sadler of Garden Grove, Calif., and Jim Clouse of Shawnee; grandchildren, Michael Crider, Brian Crider, Christina Clouse, and Analicia Ticer; great-grandchildren, Mason Crider, Gracie Ticer and Hallie Yim-Crider; and many other family members.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Service will be 9 a.m. Monday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Mike McCauley officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Special Thanks to the staff of Angelic Hospice and Golden Rule Nursing Home for taking wonderful care of our Father.

Billy Guy Loftis
Shawnee resident Billy Guy Loftis, 59, passed away Wednesday, June 6, at home on.

He was born July 21, 1947, in Shawnee to Guy T. and Norman Jean (O'Bright) Loftis.

Billy was a 1965 graduate of Shawnee High School. He served with the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base. Billy's hobbies included enjoying the outdoors and making knives.

Billy was preceded in death by his mother, his grandparents, and aunts and uncles.

Survivors include his son, Steven Loftis of Shawnee; daughters, Virginia Ann Musselwhite of Mounteverde, Fla., and Carrie Renee Mulcahy of Rochester, Mich.; nine grandchildren; his father and step-mother, Guy and Jean Loftis; brothers and sister-in-law, Darrell and Fonda Loftis and Ronnie Loftis of Shawnee; sisters and brothers-in-law Rocky and Wynona Richardson and DeAnn and Rick Fogle of Shawnee; aunts, Joy Farley of Oklahoma City, Edna Loftis and Mildred Uhl both of Shawnee; nieces, Paula Lyon and Lori Loftis both of Shawnee; nephew Dustin Loftis, of Oklahoma City; great-nieces and a great-nephew; and numerous cousins.

A memorial service celebrating Billy's life will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Memorial Park.

In Lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made in Billy's name to the Disabled American Veterans.

Lou Ella Bergsten
Norman resident Lou Ella Bergsten, 71, died June 6, at her home in Norman.

She was born Jan. 8, 1936, in Shawnee to Clarence and Daisy Buckmaster.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother, one grandson and one great-grandson.

Survivors include her twin daughters: Sharon Slattery and her husband, Sam, and Karen Wells and her husband, Art, all of Shawnee; son Gary Powers of Oklahoma City; five sisters and their spouses, Mary and Glenn Powers of Noble, Kathy and Dean Schmidt of Arcadia, Lucille and Cliff Bickford of Hema, Calif., Betty Looper of Arcadia, and Ivy Craft of Noble; two brothers, Leroy Buckmaster and his wife, Diane, of Beaver, Okla., and Clarence Buckmaster of Phoenix, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; special grandson, J. J.; and several nieces and nephews.

Service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Larry Sparks officiating.

Charles Ray Freeman Jr.
Tecumseh resident Charles Ray Freeman Jr., 21 months, died Thursday, June 7, at OU Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 19, 2005, in Shawnee to Charles Ray Sr. and Tiffany Freeman.

His family is associated with Trinity Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Charles W. Freeman Sr.; great-grandmother, Judy Lane; and great-great-grandmother, Gracie Sanders.

Survivors include his parents, Charles Ray Sr. and Tiffany Freeman; one sibling, Ivory Dawn Patricia Dye; grandparents, Charles W. Jr. and Teri Freeman, Preston and Teresa Tally and Doug Shelledy; great-grandparents, Audrey Hollingsworth, Daniel Lane, Marian Moore; and many aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Graveside Dale Cemetery with the Rev. Kay Smith officiating.

Luke Andrew Simon
Former Shawnee resident Luke Andrew Simon, 55, died Thursday, June 7, in Omaha, Neb.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Little Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Rex W. Lowry
Lifelong Konawa resident Rex W. Lowry, 75, died Saturday, June 9, at his home.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Konawa Cemetery with Mark Streetman, First Baptist Church of Konawa, officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.

Mary Jean Garner
Shawnee resident Mary Jean Garner, 73, died Wednesday, June 6, in Shawnee

She was born Oct. 10, 1933, in Ponca City to W.N. (Bill) and Mary (Sullivant) Lee.

She attended and graduated from Ponca City High School with the class of 1951. She was the co-recipient of the initial Conoco College Scholarship.

Mrs. Garner attended Monticello College, the University of Colorado, where she was a member of the synchronized swim team, and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a B.A. in languages.

She was married June 22, 1956, in Ponca City to Steven T. Garner. Mr. and Mrs. Garner were married for 50 years and were best friends for 55 years.

After living in Colorado, Texas and Kansas they settled in Shawnee in 1965. It was in Shawnee where they raised their family and established an accounting practice.

Mrs. Garner belonged to the Pi Beta Phi Sorority and was a Unit Leader in Camp Fire and Boy Scouts. She served on the Camp Fire Board for several years. Mrs. Garner was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

She loved her bridge club and many faithful friends. Traveling was enjoyed by Mrs. Garner. She had many enjoyable lake outings with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons, Lee Garner and Woody Garner of Shawnee; one daughter, Melanie and her husband, Jeff Defehr, of Weatherford; one brother, Frank Lee of Oklahoma City; one niece, Kara Lee of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren, William and Jeanie Garner, San Diego, Calif., Will, Ross, and Zoie DeFehr of Weatherford.

Service was held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with Jody Defehr officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Unity Health Center Foundation and American Cancer Society.

William Joseph Birney
Shawnee resident William Joseph Birney died Monday, June 11, at his residence at the age of 81.

Rosary service will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of Walker Funeral Service. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Benedict Caatholic Church with Father Joachim Spexarth officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or Loving Care Hospice, 1940 N. Harrison, Shawnee, OK.

Other information is pending with Walker Funeral Service.

Loretta Goodman Henley
Longtime resident Loretta Goodman Henley, 91, passed from this life Sunday, June 10, at Unity North Hospital in Shawnee.

She was born July 20, 1915, to Clarence and Mary Ethel (Maynard) Goodman in Massey, Okla.

Loretta married Clinton Henley on April 8, 1939, in Wewoka, he preceded her in death March 17, 1990.

Loretta was a member of the Park and Seminole Church of Christ in Seminole where she worshiped for 68 years. She was a member of the Highland Church of Christ in Tecumseh from 1997 to the present.

Loretta worked as a LPN in Seminole for 34 years. She attended nursing school at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa and completed her training at Seminole Junior College. She worked at the Pace - Chambers Clinic and later at the Seminole Hospital Clinic for Doctors Claude Chambers, Julian Wood, Jack Wood and George Davis until she retired in 1992.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one daughter, Rebecca Jane Henley who died in 1945.

Survivors include her one daughter and son-in-law, Cherie and Bob Trousdale of Tecumseh; three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Trellys Henley of Santa Rosa, Calif., David Henley of Tecumseh, Joe and Deidra Henley of Oklahoma City; one brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Margie Goodman of Prue, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and dear friends.

Viewing will be 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. today and until noon on Wednesday. Swearingen Funeral Home - 100 West Strothers Ave. - Seminole, 74868 /// 405-382-3456

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Seminole Church of Christ with Kevin Rayner officiating the service assisted by Bob Anderson.(Located on Hwy 377 across from Seminole Airport). Burial at Maple Grove Cemetery (Located at the corner of Boren and Strothers Ave. in Seminole)
