Lorene C. (Criswell) Beattie
Former Seminole resident, Lorene C. (Criswell) Beattie, 91 , died Thursday, July 12, in Tulsa.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka with Father Basil M. Keenan, O.S.B., officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Opal "June" Price
Wewoka resident Opal "June" Price died Tuesday, July 10, at the age 77.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole with the Rev. Wesley Martin officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

John W. Hancock
Longtime Seminole resident John W. Hancock, 75, died Wednesday, in Shawnee.

Service is planned for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with the Rev. Carl Whitfield and the Rev. Steve Cline officiating. Burial at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Richard (Rick) Eugene Shelton
Enid resident formerly of Shawnee Richard (Rick) Eugene Shelton, 58, passed away Sunday, July 8, in Enid, he had been ill for some months.

He was born Aug. 30, 1948, to Jack and Freda Shelton in Shawnee. He was the grandson of John Shelton.

Rick grew up in Shawnee and was a diesel mechanic for years in Enid for 25 years at Ryder Trucks. Rick then worked in Oklahoma City for seven years at US Express and at the time of his death he was employed in Enid at Roberts Truck Center.

He was a member of Living Word Fellowship Church.

Rick graduated from Shawnee High School. In 1968 he served one tour of duty in Vietnam with the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Tina of the home; son, Ricky Shelton of Victoria, Texas; daughter, April Peltier of Victoria, Texas; parents, Jack Shelton of Catonsville, Md., and Freda Shelton of Rush Springs; sister, Nelda Jolly of El Reno; several grandchildren; numerous family and friends.

Memorial service and burial was held Wednesday, July 11, under the direction of Henninger-Allen Funeral Home in Enid.

Richard Lee Harris
Prague resident Richard Lee Harris departed this life Friday, July 13, in Prague at the age of 73.

He was born on August 11, 1933, to Ollie and Lena (Pratt) Harris in Pottawatomie County.

He married Margie Dawson on Oct. 29, 1954.

Richard served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base where he worked as an inspector. He was then able to spend more time in his outdoor activities and became a therapeutic foster parent.

He was preceded in death by his father and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Margie Harris of the home; mother, Lena Harris of Prague; son, Richard Keith "Cheyenne" Harris of Prague; daughters and son-in-law, Ollie Jean and Larry Carpenter of Prague and Vickie Morris of Prague; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tommy Harris of Prague, Freddy and Lovene Harris of Shawnee and Jay and Renee Harris of Prague; sisters and brother-in-law, Shirley Jean Guffey of New Castle and Kay and Donny Walters of Edmond; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.

Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Prague with Bro. Tim Emmons officiating. Burial will follow at Keokuk Cemetery in Prague.

Lela Irene Woods
Longtime Shawnee resident Lela Irene Woods, 89, died Thursday, July 12, in Midwest City.

She was born Feb. 27, 1918, to Leeford L. White and Nellie (Moore) White in Shawnee.

She attended Shawnee High School.

She married Earl M. Woods Jr. on July 13, 1940, in McLoud.

Lela was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, was a former President of the (WMV), taught bible class and was the family seamstress, sewed for all the kids.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Earl M. Woods Jr., daughter, Merrilyn Tully and two sisters.

Survivors include her children and spouses, Don Woods and Mary Ellen and Linda Davenport and Louis; two sisters, Dorothy Gilmore and Lola Deberry; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Home.

Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Richard Gay officiating.

Marcella Burrows
Shawnee resident Marcella Burrows, 62, died Friday, July 13, at a local hospital.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Dale Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Derrick officiating. Arrangements under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Norman S. Barnes
McLoud resident Norman S. Barnes, 83, died Friday, July 13, at a Midwest City Hospital.

Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at McLoud Church of Christ with Wayne Price officiating. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Mabel Adair Johnson (Saunders)
Tecumseh resident Mabel Adair Johnson (Saunders), 76, passed away Thursday, July 12.

She was born May 31, 1931, to Hester A. and Annie M. (Saunders) in San Marcos, Texas.

She married Arley Eugene Johnson May 31, 1955.

She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and matron of the family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hester A. Saunders Sr. and Annie Mabel (Haddox) Saunders; sister, Annie L. West and brother, Bobby G. Saunders.

Survivors include her husband, Arley Eugene Johnson of Tecumseh; sister, Virginia Harcus; brother, Hester A. Saunders Jr.; two daughters, JeanAnn Sanders, Susan H. Wisdom and husband, David; six grandchildren, Billy J. Sanders and wife, Charity, Mikki A. Hargus and wife, Krystal, Patience A. Crabb and husband, Ryan, ReBecca A. Kozicki and husband, Zac, Rikki A. Belshe, Ashley P. Roller and husband, Jon; seven great-grandchildren, Tyler, Dylan W. Dylan K. Alanna, Jacob, Dimitry and Daisey; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Home. Graveside service will 10 a.m. Monday at Resthaven Memorial Park (Trinity Chapel).

She has stated "As you can see I have lived a full life and just would like to have lived a little longer."

Billy J. Brownen
Shawnee resident Billy J. Brownen, 65, died Monday in Oklahoma City.

Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Kevin and Krystle Brownen and Chuck Brownen, all of Shawnee; and a sister.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Park under the direction of Primrose Funeral Service. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday at Primrose Funeral Home.

Jewell D. Burt
Jewell D. Burt, 93, of Duncan died Monday at a local hospital.

She was born Sept. 13, 1908, in Earlsboro to L.D. Helm and Mattie (Rippy) Helm.

Burt grew up and attended school in Earlsboro. She attended college briefly at Oklahoma Baptist University.

She was a retired post office supervisor at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City.

She married Joe N. Burt May 1, 1926, in Shawnee.

Burt was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and Liberty Baptist Church of Shawnee.

She also was a member of Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one son, Bill Burt.

She is survived by a nephew and his wife, Don and Jan Cannon of Duncan; two sisters-in-law, Mary Helm of San Diego, Calif., and Gladys Burt of Shawnee; three grandsons, Jody Ray Yort of Texas, Jerry Yort of Oklahoma City and Brad Burt of Phoenix, Ariz.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Matthews officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Services are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Memorial donations may be made to Liberty Baptist Church.
