Lela May Parish
Lela May Parish of Shawnee died Tuesday at Unity Health Center. She was 100 years old.

She is survived by her children, Jack and Marie Crowl of Sun City, Calif., and Maxine Turner of Shawnee; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Ashworth officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Katherine Lucy
Katherine Lucy, formerly of Maysville and Ada, died Wednesday, July 23, at Paul's Valley General Hospital at the age of 81.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Debby Lucy of Ada, and her daughter, Jo Ree Lucy of Paul's Valley.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Cummings Cemetery in Maud with the Rev. Buck Jordon officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home, Maud.

Dorothy L. (Palmer) Lumley
Dorothy L. (Palmer) Lumley, formerly of the Shawnee area, died Saturday, July 19, at St. Joseph Hospital in Stockton, Calif. She was 73.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Little Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill Funeral Chapel.

Charlotte Elizabeth Inman
Lifelong Seminole resident Charlotte Elizabeth Inman, 70, Sunday, July 22, in Shawnee.

She was born Oct. 2, 1936, to William J. Melton and Lennie C. (Owens) Melton in Carr City, southwest of Seminole.

On June 30, 1952, she married Keith Inman in Ada.

She worked as a homemaker, mother, grandmother, and wife. She enjoyed her family, cooking, and was part of the Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her husband, Keith Inman of the home in Seminole; three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Sandy Inman of Huntsville, Ala., Roger and Melody Inman of Shawnee, and David and Susan Lawyer of Lindale of Texas; one sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Somer Jones of Seminole; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Larry Sparks officiating.

Family request donations be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Mary Jo Stephens
Former Shawnee resident Mary Jo Stephens died Friday, July 20, in Oklahoma City at the age of 76.

She was born Sept. 21, 1930, in Shawnee to Anton Leo and Hildred Laura Bauman. She was the oldest of six children.

She graduated from Shawnee High School and then attended nurses training at Saint Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City with her twin sister, Nina, from 1948 to 1950.

On Aug. 4, 1951, she married John Kenneth Stephens in Oklahoma City and together they had four children. They were married for more than 47 years until his death April 7, 1999.

Mary Jo worked as a compassionate and caring registered nurse for nearly four decades. She cared for her patients like they were family. She enjoyed gardening, water colors, sewing, the arts and travel. She appreciated other cultures and loved to try new foods. She and Nina enjoyed a long running friendly grudge match of the card game Skip Bo. Depending on which twin you talked to, the other was winning. The two always joked that one of them was an "evil twin" but no one every knew which one it was.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth; daughter, Susan Kincaid; sister, Margaret Bouska; and niece, Regina Bauman.

She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Andrus and her husband, John, of Oklahoma City and Cynthia Pritchett and husband, Geoffrey, of Del City; son, Kenneth Stephens of Oklahoma City. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tony Meinert, Meagan Miller, Helen Small and Tyler Melton; three great-grandchildren; twin sister, Nina Austin; brothers, George Bauman and Frank Bauman; sister, Slvia Coogle; many nieces, nephews and her loving friend, Vernie Tucker.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staffs of Tealridge and Brighton Gardens for their compassionate care.

A gathering of family, friends and well-wishers will be held 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Hahn-Cook Street/Draper Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice or the Alzheimer's Association.

A.W. Jack Chesser
Longtime Seminole County resident Alvin W. "A.W." "Jack" Chesser died Sunday, July 22, in Shawnee at the age of 88.

Service will be 10:30 a.m. today in the Church of Christ at Little, Okla., with Rusty Dawson officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery, located 8 miles north of Seminole on Hwy 377) under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Raymond Moore
Tecumseh resident Raymond Moore died Monday, July 23, in Tecumseh at the age of 84.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John Brooks officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Jacques Jackson
Meeker resident Jacques Jackson died Monday, July 23, at the age of 72.

Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Meeker Assembly of Good, Meeker. Burial will be in Neal Cemetery under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Judy Faye Matthews
Judy Faye Matthews, 60, of Shawnee died Monday.

She was born Sept. 2, 1941, in Fresno, Calif., to Fred and Mary Sanders.

She was a lifelong resident of Shawnee.

She married Johnny Matthews Aug. 10, 1957, in Gainesville, Texas.

She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Dick Walker; a grandson, David Bynum Jr.; and a great-grandson, James Darty.

She is survived by her husband, Johnny Matthews of the home; three daughters, Molly Bynum of Shawnee, Ratheda Black of Oklahoma City and Sherrii Rhodes of Shawnee; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Randy Sanders of Virginia and Fred Sanders of Shawnee; a cousin, Mary Hastings of Shawnee; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside services are 2 p.m. Friday at Neal Cemetery with Don Poe officiating. Services are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Florence L. McVey
Florence L. (Miller) McVey, 80, of Harrah died Tuesday.

She is survived by her husband, John McVey; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Karen and Billy Sparks of Choctaw, Kathryn L. and Herman McFillen of Oklahoma City and Twyla J. Sharp of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Bernice Beatty of Choctaw and Velma Eckert of Harrah; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Harrah Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow at Ferrell Cemetery in Harrah. Services are under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Home.

Ray M. Hollis
Ray M. Hollis Sr., 85, of Shawnee died Wednesday at a local hospital.

Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Further details are pending announcement by Roesch-Walker Funeral Home.

Raymond Moore
Tecumseh resident Raymond Moore, 84, passed away Monday, July 23, in Tecumseh.

He was born Oct. 15, 1922, to John Clifford and Lessie Mae (Stepp) Moore in Tahlequah.

He moved to this area as a child and had resided in Tecumseh since 1962.

On Sept. 5, 1943, he married Erma Lee Parsons in Shawnee.

He operated a dairy and farmed until he retired. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tecumseh.

He was preceded in death by his wife Dec. 7, 2003; parents; one sister, Lucille McFarland; and two great-grandsons, Logan and Tanner Woodall.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Dick and Frances Moore of Tecumseh and Don and Robbie Moore of Tecumseh; daughter and son-in-law, Beth and John Brooks of Gainesville, Texas; sister, Emma Jane Jackson of Tecumseh; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Dick Moore Jr. and Elizabeth and Jeff Barnett, all of Tecumseh, David Moore of Kingfisher, Matt and Deanna Moore of Meeker, Kit and Pete Woodall of Tecumseh, Greg and Kenna Brooks of Marlow, Bonnie and Eddie Rucker and Mark Brooks, all of Gainesville, Texas; and seven great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John Brooks officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.
