Betty Reed Anderson
Longtime Maud area resident Betty Reed Anderson, 67, passed from this life Friday, Aug. 3, at her home in Maud.

Betty was born Sept. 4, 1939, in Ardmore, Okla.

She married Donnie Elbert "Don" Reed and together they had four children. Don tragically died in an automobile accident in 1982.

Betty later met and married Noel "Junior" Anderson. He preceded her in death in 1994.

Betty worked for Pottawatomie County Commissioners in Shawnee as the road and bridge coordinator until she was recently diagnosed with cancer.

She moved to the Maud area 46 years ago from Tatum, N.M. Betty was a member of First Baptist Church in Maud.

Betty is preceded in death by her two husbands; one sister and brother-in-law, Charlene and Bobbie Franklin, and one brother, Fred Jones.

Betty leaves to cherish her memory two sons and a daughter-in-law, Russ and Sherry Reed of Meeker and Rick Reed of Maud; three daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Scott Gibbs of Holdenville, Elizabeth and Gary Job Barnhart of Wewoka, and Kathy Stacy of Eufaula; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Jerry Jones of Okmulgee and Raymond and Virginia Jones of Ardmore; one sister-in-law, Laveta Reed of Midland, Texas; seven grandchildren, Courtney Lunsford, Charley Nichole Barnhart, Coty Job Barnhart, Taylor Don Reed, Jaden Tyce Gibbs, Lorlie Langston, Faith Flick and Caleb Stacey; and a host of other family and dear friends.

Viewing will be from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. today and Wednesday at Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home.

Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Maud (Located at the corner of Oxford and Young Streets in Maud.) with Greg Goss and the Rev. Bobby Shatton officiating. Burial will be in Cummings Cemetery in Maud.

Leland E. Upton
Tecumseh resident Leland E. Upton, 69, passed away Friday, Aug. 3, in Shawnee.

He was born Sept. 30, 1937, in Tecumseh to Clarence and Clara (Dostal) Upton.

He was a graduate of Tecumseh High School.

Leland was with the 101st Airborne Division during Viet Nam, where he received the Bronze Star for Valor.

Born and raised in Tecumseh, he also lived in Wetumka, where he met his wife.

On Sep. 11, 1975, he married Virginia Tippin in Tecumseh. They then moved back to Tecumseh and have lived here since.

He retired from the U.S. Army, and went to work as an electronics technician for Burns' TV and Electronic.

He was an honorary lifetime member of the Tecumseh Jaycees. He loved gardening and birds, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a focal point in his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, LaWanda Springer.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia of the home; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Patrick and Linda Upton of Oklahoma City, Steven and Lynn Upton of St. Robert, Mo., Jeffery and Daphine Sparks of Wetumka, and Tim Upton of Holdenville; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Delbert Upton of Tecumseh, DeLain and Maggie Upton of San Francisco, Calif., Larry and Lori Upton of Norman, and Gary and Rhonda Upton of Houston; one sister and brother-in-law, LaDonna and Clois King of Tecumseh; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; numerous friends and other family members.

Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Larry Sparks officiating.

Loyd H. Roberts
Dale resident Loyd H. Roberts, 81, passed away Monday, Aug. 6, at his residence.

He was born June 13, 1926, to Ivan and Minnie Roberts in Dale.

He attended Dale High School.

He married Iva Mae Cluck on April 14, 1947, in Gainesville, Texas.

He retired from Tinker Air Force Base after 42 years.

He is a veteran of World War II and the Korean War and received a Purple Heart in World War II.

Loyd was a member of VFW, American Legion, Retired Enlisted Association, United Seniors Association and Charter Member of Air Force Memorial Foundation.

He was a licensed pilot and loved to fly.

Loyd was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Betty Little; three sisters and one brother.

Survivors include four daughters and spouses, Carol and David Alexander of Dale, Barbara and Wesley Little of Dale, Kathy and Terry Wilson of Dale, Lida Wade of Oklahoma City; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Dorthey Clemens; one brother-in-law, Nim Hayes; many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive guests at the home of Carol and David Alexander, 32701 45th St., Shawnee, Okla.

Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Walker Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Doug Parker and the Rev. Leroy Kerbo officiating. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery.

William "Freddy" Collins
Paden resident William "Freddy" Collins, 56, departed this life Saturday, Aug. 4, in Prague.

He was born Sept. 19, 1950, to William Desmond and Edna Marie (Vanhorn) Collins in Prague.

He married Terry Ann Reisch on May 5, 1968.

Freddy worked as a paint and body repair man most of his life. He was of the Baptist faith.

Freddy was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister.

Survivors include his wife of more than 39 years, Terry Collins of the home; daughters and son-in-law, Candi Collins of Prague, and Holly and Billy Archer of Ada; son, Billy Collins of Shawnee; brothers and sister-in-law, Tom and Joy Collins of Shawnee and Gene and Edna Collins of Shawnee; sisters and brother-in-law, Louise Cloud of Texas, and Phyllis and Jim Keeley of Eufaula; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague with Bro. Paul Heard officiating. Burial will follow at a later date.

Evelyn Myers Nadeau
Tecumseh resident Evelyn Myers Nadeau, 86, passed away Monday, Aug. 6, in Tecumseh.

She was born December 8, 1920, to Jim and Minnie (Ray) Harbour in Tecumseh.

She was reared southwest of Tecumseh. She attended Arkansas Flat Grade School and was a 1939 graduate of Tecumseh High School.

On August 15, 1941, she married Verdun Myers in Pauls Valley. Mr. Myers preceded her in death Nov. 3, 1968. On May 1, 1971, she married William A. "Bill" Nadeau in Tecumseh.

Evelyn was a homemaker. She had been a member of the American Legion Hill Huett Post 260 Auxiliary since 1950 and was a member of the American Legion 8 and 40. She was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church in Tecumseh. She was also active in Home Demonstration.

Evelyn enjoyed cooking and served as a cook at New Hope School for seven years. She retired from Tinker Air Force Base.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Nella Mae Milner.

Survivors include husband, William A. "Bill" Nadeau of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Sharon Myers of Tulsa, and Skip and Ronda Myers of Tecumseh; one daughter and son-in-law, Verdonna and Johnny Spann of Altus; sister, Ellen Thompson of Tecumseh; six grandchildren and spouses, Kara and Greg Snider of Broken Arrow, Jon and Amanda Myers of Noble, Amy and Lance Hoggatt of Perkins, Jesse and Shanda Myers of Norman, Mindi and J.T. Walker of Bethel Acres, and Ashley Spann of Altus; eight great-grandchildren; two step-daughters, Janene Graber of Overton, Nev.; and Elaine Williams and her husband Wesly of Oklahoma City; step-son, Bryan W. Nadeau of San Francisco, Calif.; seven step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tracy Schumpert officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery.

The casket will remain open until service time and not be re-opened following the service.

Tommie Juanita (Thomas) Anderson Hord
Tommie Juanita (Thomas) Anderson Hord passed away Tuesday, Aug. 7, at her residence in Konawa after a short but well fought battle with cancer.

She was born on Dec. 3, 1942, to Jack and Juanita (Sexton) Thomas in Konawa.

She attended Konawa High School and had lived all her life in the Konawa, Maud and St. Louis area.

Tommie was a Home Health Aid at Central Oklahoma Family Medical Clinic in Konawa for 10 years.

She attended Grace Community Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Thomas; husband, Raymond Anderson; daughter, Raylena Carol Anderson; brother, Dennis Thomas and a great-granddaughter, Jacey East.

She is survived by her husband, Ric Hord of the home; her mother, Juanita Thomas of Konawa; four daughters, Debra Lehman and her husband, David, of Tecumseh, Dianna Mullins and her husband, Roland, of Sasakwa, Sharlet Sandlin of Oklahoma City and Barbara Goodman of Altus; two brothers, Bob Thomas of Konawa and Randy Thomas and his wife, Pat, of Darby, Mont.; two sisters, Connie Prewitt and her husband, Roy, of Konawa and Tinya Thomas and her husband, Mike Murray, of Konawa; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Konawa with the Rev. Roy Robertson officiating.

Serving as honorary bearers will be her nephews.
