Kenneth W. Alexander
Shawnee resident Kenneth W. Alexander, 54, passed away Sunday, Aug. 5, in a McLoud Nursing Home.

He was born July 12, 1953, to Ralph Mason Alexander and Marie (Vandever) Alexander in Shawnee.

He was a high school graduate.

Kenneth was a salesman for an oil filter company in Oklahoma City for 34 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Keri Dawn Alexander.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Christi and Shawn Hout of Lawrence, Kan.; son, Joe Gilmore of Shawnee; granddaughter, Ashley Hout; and two grandsons, Derek and Joshua Hout, all of Lawrence, Kan.; two granddaughters, Kirstie and Kalah Gilmore of Shawnee; two brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Carol Alexander of Shawnee, and Charles and Jody Alexander of Shawnee.

The family will receive guests at the home of Carol and David Alexander, 32701 45th St. Shawnee.

Service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Doug Parker officiating. Burial will follow Dale Cemetery.

Mary Alice Day (Martin)
Shawnee resident Mary Alice Day (Martin), 81, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, in a local nursing home.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Liberty Baptist Church with Bro. Bill Matthews and Bro. Phil Thompson officiating.

Other information is pending and will be announced Thursday. Services are under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Karen Jones
Stroud resident Karen Jones, 57, died Monday, Aug. 6, in Tulsa.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Thursday at Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Stroud.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Kingdom Hall in Bristow with Mark Penn officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Stroud.

Vernon E. Clark
Chandler resident Vernon E. Clark, 88, died Tuesday, Aug. 7.

Service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel, Chandler.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Chandler.

Matilda 'Maxine' Cowan
Longtime Seminole County resident Matilda "Maxine" Cowan, 77, died, Sunday, Aug. 5, in Maud.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Earl Hood and Herschel Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Coker Family Cemetery near Maud.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole..

Dorothy Louise Jellerson
Dorothy Louise 'Tuds' Jellerson, 71, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, Aug. 6, 2007.

She was born July 14, 1936, in Shawnee to Dr. Lewis and Maud Solomon (deceased.)

Dorothy was raised on the campus of Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee where her father was Dean and Registrar until his retirement.

She was married to Selwyn Hackett from Shawnee for nine 9 years and they had two children from that marriage, Karen (Hackett) Beall (Newalla, OK) and Kevin Jellerson (Allen, Texas). She married Joseph Jellerson, (deceased) whom she met while participating with the Woodlawn Sailing Club in San Antonio. Joe was in the Air Force and he soon received orders for Taiwan. They had one daughter, JoDee Kerestes (Boerne, TX) who was born in Taipai during that assignment. Upon their return to the states they settled in San Antonio to be near family.

She worked at Methodist Hospital as a phone operator until complications with Lupus forced her to retire. She later volunteered with the Central Chapter of the Texas Lupus Texas Association. She was a 'people' person and loved helping others.

She is survived by her sister, Phyllis Amend of Boerne, and had just recently lost a sister, Joann 'Jody' Horner from San Antonio. 'Mamaw' had five grandchildren who were precious to her, Jason Beall (deceased,) Callie (Beall) Twelves, Jamie Abraham, Jessie Abraham and Koby Joe Kerestes. She had one great-granddaughter, Maci Twelves; four nieces and five nephews.

The family would like to say 'Thank You' to all who took part in her life, her care, her support and making her time on earth meaningful.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the South Central Chapter of Lupus Association, 5503 Grissom Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78238.

A celebration of her life will be held 11 a.m. today at Vaughan's Funeral Home, 319 E San Antonio Ave, Boerne, Texas.

Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Vaughan's Funeral Home of Boerne.

Gordon Ewing Bunch
Konawa resident Gordon Ewing Bunch, 89, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada.

A private memorial service will be held at the family's home at a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.

Joseph Lee Nice
Former Nicoma Park resident Marine Lance Cpl. Joseph "Joe" Lee Nice, 19, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, while serving his country in Iraq.

Service will be 10 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Choctaw with burial following at Arlington Memory Gardens.

Smith-Parks Funeral Service in Harrah is directing arrangements.

Carol Miller
Carol Miller, 84, of Meeker died Sunday, Aug 8, in an Oklahoma City hospital.

Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Walker Funeral Service in Shawnee. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Walker Funeral Service of Shawnee is directing arrangements.

John O. Lewis
John O. Lewis, 84, Shawnee, died Saturday, Aug. 7, at his home.

He was born Nov. 16, 1919, in Eufaula to Elmer and Isabel (Brown) Lewis.

He married Louise Applegate Jan. 1, 1947, at Red Bank, N.J., and she preceded him in death on Oct. 18, 1997.

He served in the U.S. Army in Europe and was discharged at Fort Dix, N.J. in April 1946. He received the Bronze Star. He worked as a cabinet maker.

He and his wife moved to Shawnee in August 1976.

Surviving are a daughter, Rebecca Dean of New Mexico and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of Walker Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

David Wayne Blackwood
David Wayne Blackwood, 50, died Saturday, Aug. 7, at a hospital in Aurora, Colo.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Vamoosa Cemetery with the Rev. Pam Shirk officiating.

Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa is directing arrangements.

Bettie R. Sollers
Marion, Ohio, resident Bettie R. Sollers, 76, died Friday, Aug. 6, at a nursing home in Marion, Ohio.

She was born Feb 9, 1928, in Shawnee to A.E. Ray and Beulah Johnson.

She married Leo D. Sollers Nov 5, 1952, in Douglas, Wyo. He preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1993.

She worked 22 years for JC Penney as a sales promotion manager. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church and Modern Woodmen of America.

She is survived by her sons, Johnny L. Sollers of Marysville, Ohio, K.C. "Darlene" Sollers of Deer Park, Texas, and Kelly Sollers of Coldwater, Mich.; and grandchildren, Christy "Joey" Lovolette and Kacey Sollers.

Memorial contributions may be made to Quality of Life Hospice.

Service will be 11 a.m. today at Denzer-Farison-Hottinger Funeral Home of Marion, Ohio, with the Rev. Jerry Lewis officiating.

Burial will be at Grand Prairie Cemetery.
