Longtime Asher resident Dorothy Mae Birks, 81, died Saturday, Aug. 7, at a McLoud nursing center.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Vista Cemetery in Asher with the Rev. Glen Pence officiating.

Seminole resident Minerva Adelaide (Gilbert) Shaw, 98, died Saturday, Aug. 7 at a nursing home in Seminole.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Edmond with the Rev. Roy Robertson officiating.

Stephen L. Svien
Unionville, Mo., resident Stephen L. Svien, 55, died Sunday, July 29, 2007, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
No service is scheduled at this time.

George "Wayne" Mason
Former longtime Seminole resident George "Wayne" Mason, 66, died Thursday, Aug. 9.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Little Cemetery with Tim Tate officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Cindy Hawkins
Shawnee resident Cindy Hawkins, 43, passed away earlier this week, in Shawnee.
She was born Dec. 4, 1963, to Rex and Linda (Simpson) Hilburn in Hobart.
She attended Bethel schools.
On Dec. 7, 1979, she married Ron Hawkins in Shawnee. They were married for 27 years.
She was the former assistant manager of the Dollar General on Main Street. She was an animal lover, especially dogs.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Berniece and Allen Simpson and Lucille and Woody Hilburn.
Survivors include her parents, Rex and Linda Hilburn; husband and friend, Ron Hawkins; children, Michael Hawkins, Amy and Amber Hawkins, all of Shawnee; brother, Rick Hilburn and wife, Melodee, of Seminole; grandchildren, Cayden and Locke Hawkins of North Carolina; many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews, as well as many other loving relatives and friends.
A Memorial service celebrating Cindy's life will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor James Eustace officiating.
Norma Jean Manning
Longtime Chandler resident Norma Jean Manning, 76, departed this life Wednesday, Aug. 8, in Meeker.
She was born April 2, 1931, to Earl and Helen Viola (Greening) Waters in Shawnee.
On June 19, 1953, she married J.D. Manning in Shawnee.
Norma was a homemaker. She was a member of New Zion Home Extension Club and was of the Baptist faith.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Jess Neal of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Lynn and Lesa Manning of Meeker, Mike and Tracy Manning of Marion, Ind., Gary and Karen Manning of Newalla; one sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and Gene Terrel of Wichita Falls, Texas; eight grandchildren, Lynsey Manning of Shawnee, Lacey and Laney Manning of Meeker, Tobey, Eleana and Rachel Manning of Marion, Ind., Kacey and Kelsey Manning of Newalla; other relatives and many friends.
Service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Chandler, with Pastor Joe Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Chandler.

James McCoy
Chandler resident James McCoy, 85, died Thursday, Aug. 9.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Oak Park Cemetery, Chandler.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Chandler.
Debra Lynn Gould
Seminole resident Debra Lynn Gould, 44, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, at her home after a lengthy illness.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Jimmy L. Brewer
Jimmy L. Brewer, 73, of Shawnee died Wednesday in a Midwest City hospital.
He was born July 31, 1929, in Jenks, the son of Leonard Jennings and Gladys Zell (Dunn) Brewer.
Brewer was a gasoline distributor.
He married Nova M. Branson on April 15, 1950, in Shawnee. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict and came to Shawnee in 1948 and had lived here since then.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Kiwanis Club, the National Quarterhorse Association and the Elks Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Nova, on May 25, 2001.
Survivors include a daughter, Debra Dulude of Al Ain, Abu Dubai, United Arab Emirates; a son, Jimmy Brewer of Shawnee; a granddaughter, Michelle Dulude of Norman; friend, Marcia Green; a great-grandson; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
A service will be 4:30 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Paul Calmes officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
Arrangements are being handled by Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.
Mary Lou Buck
Mary Lou Buck, 74, of Tyrone died Friday.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Marsha Helm of Harrah and Thyria and Mark McGee, of Boulder, Colo.; two sons, Rick Ogletree, of Golden, Colo., and Todd Ogletree, of Tyrone; a brother, Al Lambert, of Montrose, Colo.; two sisters, Helen Strief of Houston, Texas, and Boni Gingras of Parker, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal, Kan. Services are under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service.
Fern Abbie Jane Scott
Midwest City resident Fern Abbie Jane Scott, 92, died Monday, Aug. 9.
She was born Aug. 11, 1911, in Kingfisher to Fred B. DeGroat and Effie B. Jackson.
Fern was a Rosie the Riveter at Douglas Air Craft during World War II and retired from Southwestern Bell as a chief operator.
She was preceded in death by her children, Delores Brand Scott, and Richard L. Brand; her parents; one sister; five brothers; and one son-in-law.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Leo W. Scott, of Midwest City; two daughters, Janice Sturgill-Day of Midwest City, and Barbara Kennemur of Houston, Texas; son, Dennis Scott of Midwest City; sister, Maxine Giles of Shawnee; grandchildren, Robin Steward, Kerri Graham, Christopher Scott, Meredith Gentry, Renee Wootten, Jaci and Paul Kennemur, and Brett Scott; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Nathan Graham, Allison Steward, Madeline Gentry, Trinity Kennemur and Valerie Scott.
Memorials may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
Service will be 10 a.m. today at Country Estates Baptist Church with burial at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Shawnee.
